competition within the creative group I run for all previous course attendees and mentee students. It is to encourage interaction in the group and to offer a reason to share or make photos in reaction to a prompt. From mid-July to early December, a new challenge subject will be set in the group. It may be interpreted however an individual wishes, but the ICM technique must be the overriding element in the image. I have chosen an outside judge for each challenge to offer a wide variety of feedback and varying outlooks on ICM photography. This is a cumulative competition: Points 1-10 are awarded for the top 10 placings each challenge. (1st place gaining 10 and 10th place 1) A point is awarded to every entrant to say thank you for submitting. A bonus 5 points are awarded to each of Charlie’s top 5 each challenge. In December there will be an online awards evening, with some small prizes, and to celebrate everyone’s achievements. So, the green challenge is complete, and once again a brilliant turnout from all of you who submitted. A few out of the box images, and lots of green trees! Lovely to see all the creativity and ICM movements used. Many thanks to Morag Patterson from the UK for judging this challenge. I have been a follower of Morag’s work for some time, and really enjoyed a webinar that she gave earlier this year. Her photography ethos is wonderful and the creativity and concepts behind her projects are really thought provoking. Morag creates beautiful ICM and non ICM images. I have worked with Morag in the ICM photomag FB admin team for a while and was delighted when she agreed to judge this challenge. It would be lovely if you showed you appreciation for her time and effort by visiting her website https://www.leemingpaterson.com/ And her Instagram pages https://www.instagram.com/leemingpaterson/?hl=en and Ihttps://www.instagram.com/mog_pat/?hl=encreatedthisICMchallenge,toofferafriendly

Many congratulations to the winner of the green challenge. Morag said she loved the winner because of the way it uses light and negative space to really highlight the green area at the top. It’s also quite unconventional and has a sense of mystery which always appeals to me.
Without further ado – I would like to introduce you to your winners. Congratulations to the top 10. Sue Woodbridge

Birgitta Larsson Morgag said this image speaks to me of summer and positivity. I think the combination of sift elements contrasting with the sharper areas and use of complimentary colours to bring out the green. The sense of movement is also nice in this image.
3rd Place Camilla Rutayisire Gore Morag said the light and shadow in the 3rd image is great, and the way the green area isn’t overstated but is central to the subject matter. The use of playful highlights works well in this image.

Now if you were looking for your image in there and it was missing, there is a reason – You are in this section. I really appreciated Morag judging the green challenge for me, but in addition to his placing I also wanted to award my own top 5. Some you will see appear chosen by us both, but a couple were completely different choices – and that reflects how we each enjoy and perceive art in different ways.
Congratulations to Birgitta and Valerie for making top 10 and top 5. Congratulations to Joy, Amber and Jaana for their top 5 placing here. My top 5 are not in any specific order – so all these images have been awarded a bonus 5 points.
