About Me

I am a recent graduate seeking full time employment, who has just achieved a First Class Honours in BA(Hons) Architecture from the University of Brighton. I love physical crafts, I sketch every day, I love to model make and I produce my own furniture. This has been something that inspired me to pursue architecture. I have a keen interest in designing based of the study of peoples routines and habits and wrote my dissertation on the study of public space through photography. Housing is a particular interest to me as I am able to bring together these interests.

The brief for this project was to research and create a series of interventions for the Mursell Council Estate in London. The interventions must be commercial and community focused improving the quality of life for residents.

*Existing Residential Flats*

View not obstructed by roof

The proposed structure in red shows how a glu-lam structure will be bolted to the existing concrete columns. The installation extends the sheltered under-croft area creating a more habitable space.

Market Pods for Inside Shelter

MODEL ITERATIONS

Simple market stall form, can be flat packed and slotted between the columns of the under-croft.

Enclosed structure can be slid into the shelter, open-able shelters at front and back allow for more interesting entrance.

Fabric testing to stretch between a vernacular frame.

Collapsible design to allow for taller structures to move inside the shelter.

Foldable roof allows structure to slide under shelter.

Raisable roof allows for a taller structure, capturing more light. This design is placed on wheels that allow it to be easily rolled around.

The Market Pod Structure

The Market Pod structure is kept simple with a bolted timber frame that can be disassembled and adapted by residents to best suit their needs. The wheels also allow the pods to be moved around site.

Tarner Park Renovation

This Project involved creating a new community centre for Tarner Park, Brighton. The project concept renovates the existing temporary structure and creates new facilities for the surrounding community.

Third Year Undergraduate Project, 10 /01/ 24

My Proposal adds a Nursery, Cafe, Growing Garden, Greenhouse and multi-function rooms for community use. The building creates a central courtyard that outlines the previous building. There are three openings creating pathways that lead people further into the park.

Courtyard Routes

Housing in the Lanes

This was a housing project located in central Brighton within the Lanes. I was tasked with designing a residential building with between 10 and 25 units. The site was a car park wedged between buildings in the dense lanes which made designing the layout difficult.

Second Year Undergraduate Project, 10 /01/ 23

My proposal sits within a densely populated area of Brighton with little open green space, this made it important not to over populate the site. I designed three courtyards that reduce in size as you travel into the site, this creates a sense of intimacy between the residents as the landscape brings them closer together.
