ministry has kept a sincere interest in the affairs of our brethren wherever they may serve. We continue that vision. In that time we have supported national and missionary efforts in a plethora of countries around the world where we have attempted to make a difference both from the eternal benefit of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and from those areas where we can affect this world socially, economically, educationally or vocationally."

The Gospel of Jesus Christ and ICOF Global (part 2) By Bernie L. Wade, Thd.

This is our 13th issue of THE NEXT WAVE (formerly Perspectives from ICOF). As we leave the 80th year of this ministry and move into our 81st, we have just finished historic conferences in Nigeria, Zambia, Pakistan and several other countries.

I continued, "We are committed far beyond the traditional role of missionary efforts where some American or other Westerner oversees the interest of his/her denomination in that area. We feel the strategy of continuing to send additional missionaries to countries that have a strong national effort wreaks of nationalism, authoritarianism, and colonization; rather than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a pattern that we have chosen not to repeat in our ministry. Thus, we have thrown the full force of our efforts into identifying, encouraging, raising up and supporting national efforts."

After 80 years the mission is not nearly complete. In many ways it seems that it has only begun. As we celebrate our King Jesus Christ and rejoice at the impact of the Holy Spirit through our ministry on so many lives we realize that there is still so much work to do. There are so many who do not know Jesus Christ and so many that have not been buried in baptism with Him and filled with His Spirit. The need for the call to REPENTANCE has never been greater. In our last issue we printed the 2012 ICOF STATE OF THE UNION. In that address I wrote, "For over 80 years our 3

these various countries. These national efforts are self supporting and directed, by effective and capable, qualified men and women of God who are accountable to each other and to the ICOF International Congress. The process of raising up these leaders takes time, patience, and a commitment to quality over quantity. As well as leadership that have a vision and are committed to the long term outcome in these nations. It would be much easier like other efforts to merely throw money at the challenge and hope it will go away. However, experience shows us that the way we have done things in the past has created systems and expectations that are sometimes counter-productive. The concept of merely throwing money at the challenges has given an increased expectation for more of the same.

With this effort comes many challenges and responsibilities. Many countries have been taught to expect someone from the Western world to give them a handout or pay them to do Gospel work. However, that is NOT the model of the New Testament Church nor the one that ICOF has developed. Instead we have developed a large network of volunteers who give selflessly of their time, talent and treasure to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Nations.

ICOF's approach is to reproduce the same model as the New Testament Church by raising up and training qualified fivefold ministers. We are committed to identifying, God called ministers of the Gospel who are set aside for the service of Jesus Christ and sent out by His Church. We must have qualified fivefold ministers who are not dependent on a handout or begging in

This effort is far more difficult than the way this type of effort has been conducted by past and current administrations in other movements. We admit it is easier to get people to give money rather than to make a lifelong personal commitment. However, it is hard to get those with their hands out to understand that receiving money is not the pattern of the New Testament church. We have embarked on a course to raise up and strengthen national efforts in 4

order to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, but rather are qualified and committed.

am even more indebted to those men and women who faithfully serve their fellow man in ASIA. Together we are committed to the ICOF mantra, 'Jesus in the heart of EVERY man, woman and child'. ASIA is a place like other continents where personal sacrifice is rare, where integrity has often been traded for tokens and where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is sold for mammon to the unsuspecting. This is a place where the pulpit is pimped and prostituted. Yet, here in such a place we have capable, committed leadership that understand that they have already been "bought with a price" and there is no higher calling than being 'called to be a saint' in the body of Christ. Here, God has called men and women who like in the New Testament have been set aside (consecrated) and then sent out for service to our God.

It is my expectation, "that the resources (human and natural) needed to bring real and lasting change to these nations are already there". Our role is to bring leadership, direction, help and encouragement. Too many come to ICOF with their hand out looking for a quick reward for little or no contribution and when it is not forthcoming they go somewhere else. Others come for a title or position somehow equating the things of God with temporal things. Unfortunately, these are not the sort of people with which one can build a strong and lasting foundation. Fortunately, through prayer, time, lots of trial and error we have slowly connected with key people who are really committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and are not here for personal gain, fame, fortune or popularity.

As I pointed out in last year's State of the Union our forefathers who began our ministry in 1932 left with us an expectation to take the body of Christ to higher heights and deeper depths of the Spirit of Christ. Those founders were Christocentric in their approach to the Gospel; realizing that all power in

heaven and in the earth is in the name of Jesus Christ.

I have a greater sense than ever before that we need each other. These are perilous times that we live in. These are times that even the very elect is under terrible siege. Don’t be caught all alone.

Over the last three years we have turned our focus to The Next Wave. We have benefited from the work of our forefathers and have received an excellent inheritance. However, now is not the time to simply appreciate their sacrifice. Real appreciation would be to take what they have given us to another generation with fervor and commitment. Now is the time to make a sacrifice of our own. There is a whole world out that is crying out for something that will satisfy. We have that ‘something that will satisfy’ in the treasure of the Holy Spirit and it is the ONLY answer for the world today.

Again I say to you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 18:19).

For more than 80 years this ministry has focused on the unity of the body of Christ in general and the unity of the fivefold ministry in particular. As a fivefold oriented and committed ministry we recognize that we must work together. It was the plan of God for His Bride. It was never his plan for his people to be isolated and have to act alone. Circumstances have forced us to situations where we acquired the ‘Elijah Syndrome’ (where we thought we were the only one left). However, we are not the only ones. There are thousands of your compatriots in arms ready to stand with you. I have a strong word from the Lord, “Now is not the time to go into battle alone.”

To the strength of our numbers and the plethora of committed leadership we have continued to add through training and interaction committed, diverse and accomplished leadership. We remain committed to our goal of fulfilling the prayer that Jesus prayed for His Church that we would ALL be one. The mantra of International Circle of Faith is "Jesus in the heart of every man, woman and child". To this goal we have mutually pledged our lives, our fortune and our sacred honor. There

can be no higher purpose or calling than to be called to be a saint of Jesus Christ. The expectation of those who adhere to this calling is that we would take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation under heaven. This is a universal call that includes every tribe, every kindred and ever race under heaven. It is the same call for the Zambian as the American, the same for the black man as the white. The great Apostle Paul summed it up this way, "in Christ there is neither male nor female, Jew nor Greek, bond nor free." The great Apostle John wrote it this way:

First, ICOF has Jesus! We are not trying to be anything except His ambassadors, accomplishing His will in the earth. Not my will but Thy will be done. Second, we have people. ICOF is a huge network of volunteers. We have people that are working every day giving of their time, talents and treasure to make a difference in the lives of others. Let me pause and say, "I am honored to be numbered among them".

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. Third. ICOF is committed to bringing quality , affordable, Biblical education to the global community that we are privileged to serve. For too long people

Is the Church this picture paints. The Apostle, Prophet and Evangelist meet With the Teacher and Pastor at the Masters feet. But not to rule like a king on high, But to serve the Priesthood and this is why: To equip them for His great plans To teach us we must learn to stand. And as we learn to stand as one We become like His Son. Together we stand, but not alone For unity brings us to the Throne. No longer children tossed to and fro But grounded solid as we grow. We see that as we all learn our part That the Five Fold was a work of art For as the gifts were spread to you and me Through the Holy Spirit we too see. Now part of the Body so tightly knit He uses us as He sees fit. For some He gave Apostles there For others He gave the Prophet fair. Equally given was the remaining gift The Pastor, Teacher and Evangelist. And so now as the Body grows His Name is carried so everyone knows. Then their chains can be set free And grow and learn so others see.

THE FIVE FOLD No longer bound in chains I dwell Once imprisoned by a living hell But by His grace I’ve been set free Forever bound for eternity. Some may stop at this and think That to only believe is the missing link. And yes, it’s true you need only believe In the One who died for you and me; But in the Word we must look beyond, For He asked us to carry on. To go out and seek the nations where His Name is silent and not spoken there. To do this we all must know now But how can one go, unless we learn how. Jesus walked and taught a few While on this earth some seeds He threw, Out among His people there But some they didn’t seem to care. Before He left he asked the few If you carry on, I’ll remember you. To those to who sought with fertile ground, Began to branch out and fruit abound. He gave a gift of this we’re told To equip others came the Five Fold. Not to Lord over the flock But to teach others how to walk And how to be a servant too So they may go to equip me and you. The Royal priesthood – yes – the saints,

There are already more than 30 girls living in Raja´s house - and all of them have similar stories. Some were orphaned when their parents died, but many were abandoned because they live in a culture that devalues females. Two of the girls were found alive in trash bins when they were infants.

"HOW a LITTLE GIRL from INDIA ROCKED MY WORLD"

by J. Lee Grady

The Lord often provides me with a big, fat dose of reality when I travel overseas. It happened this week in India when I looked into the frightened face of Divya, a frail 4-year-old girl. Just a few days ago her poor parents abandoned her in Tanuku, in eastern Andhra Pradesh, because they already had three daughters. They wanted a son. Raja has also found a few dead baby girls in roadside trash piles. Pigs had eaten parts of their bodies. This week I spent time with Raja, his wife, Padma, and the girls, and I toured the threeroom house in Tanuku where they all live. More than 10 girls share each room. They sleep on mats. They have access to two toilets (but no hot water for baths), and they all have lice.

So they dumped their child on the side of a road. When I met little Divya she would not smile no matter how much I coaxed her. She was traumatized. My friend Raja, who found her and took her to the girls´ home he runs with his wife, said Divya had not spoken in four days. "She usually cries herself to sleep at night," Raja said. "She doesn't understand what is happening."

Raja and Padma have two young children of their own, but they manage to feed the orphaned girls rice and vegetables every day. They serve meat only once a week, in very small portions. They trust God to provide for the girls´ school fees. They also teach them the Bible and take them to their Pentecostal church on Sundays. Last Sunday afternoon after church, we took all the girls to a water park in Tanuku. The admission to the park was $2 U.S., but that is 12

too much for most poor children in India. These girls had never even seen a swimming pool.

unreached areas but they are also showing Jesus´ love to orphans, widows, lepers, prostitutes and people of the lowest social caste.

They giggled nervously before dipping their toes in the water. Some were frightened of the slides. But before the afternoon was over most of the children were splashing each other and playing games in the pool.

Every time I come to India I get a much-needed shock treatment. I realize how spoiled I am. I repent for whining and complaining about stupid material things that don´t matter. After only a day here, I suddenly sense a new gratitude for running water, flush toilets, hot showers, a comfortable bed, reliable electricity and paved roads. And even after this attitude adjustment, I still am haunted by my encounter with Divya. She totally messed me up. I can´t just go back to my comfortable suburban bubble knowing that little girls like her are being left on roadsides. Her pitiful cry was my wake-up call.

Everyone but Divya, the girl who had been abandoned a few days ago. "She was very scared, and she even tried to run out of the water park," Raja told me. "But when we brought her back, she just sat alone." But because there is so much love and security in Divya´s new home, she finally cracked her first smile the day before I left Tanuku-and she joined in singing a song about Jesus with the other girls. Her wounded heart is already being healed thanks to Raja and Padma´s compassion.

I believe God is calling all of us to renounce our self-absorbed American prosperity religion so we can hear the cries around us. Let´s stop whining and be thankful. And let´s open our hearts to receive His compassion for the millions of Divya´s who need our love.. is saying with His tone of voice.

Divya´s story reflects what is happening in India today. Even though women and girls suffer unimaginable cruelty and rejection, and even though millions still suffer in indescribable poverty, the gospel is spreading at an accelerated pace. India´s new believers are not only planting churches and evangelizing 13

something unusual. The place was crowded to the door and tense, reverent attention sat on every face. The people knelt for prayer, silent at first, but soon one here and another there began to pray aloud. The voices grew and gathered volume and blended into a great wave of united supplication that swelled until it was almost a roar. Now I understood why the floor was so wet - the very air was electric and strange thrills coursed up and down one's body." When Mr. Goforth preached, "The cross burned like a living fire in the heart of every address." It was the person of Jesus Christ who was exalted throughout the entire revival as a King and Savior who must be reckoned with. In the midst of this great revival Jonathan Goforth clearly saw that all of his previous sweating and striving had reaped only frustration. He came to the firm conviction that revival is only born through humility, faith, prayer and the power of the Holy Ghost. Goforth writes, "If revival is being withheld from us it is because some idol remains still enthroned; because we still insist in placing our reliance in human schemes; because we still refuse to face the unchangeable truth that 'It is not by might, but by My Spirit.'"

Although I am a trained social anthropologist who is supposed to make sense of such things, I must confess that I am baffled on this front. How can two extreme movements, heading in opposite directions, be so perilously close to an unprecedented collision?

THE COLLISION OF TWO RUN AWAY TRAINS by Michael Youssef

I am currently on an around-the-globe trip, going from the West Coast, to Down Under, Singapore, London, and then home again. From the vantage point of this journey, the one striking and overwhelming image I get is of two runaway trains moving in opposite directions. And yet, in some strange way, they are about to cause a global collision.

The one thing that both runaway trains have in common, however, is their hatred of Christians. To both, Christians represent a threatalthough different types of threats.

To Islamists, the threat is theological. Christians believe that God became man, died on a cross to redeem the world, and rose again to justify everyone who would believe in Him. Every day, Muslims are turning their back on Islam and embracing the redemption that only Jesus offers. Through those conversions, the biggest fear of Islamists has come upon them.

Let me explain. On one train, Islamists are violently demanding that the West bow to them as they seek to take the world back to the Arabian dark ages of the 7th century. On the other, humanists, atheists, greens, and extreme liberals are pushing the West to abandon its historic morals and Judeo-Christian ethics. They demand that the West embrace a world of homosexual marriages, nature worship, environmental extremism, and godlessness.

To atheists, humanists, and environmental zealots, the threat is to their own consciences. They were created in God's own image, and Christians represent a "photograph" of the life they were meant to lead. The 16

TRANSITION FROM THE CHURCH TO THE KINGDOM

liberal extremists cannot escape that image, and it burdens their inner guilt. Thankfully, where social anthropology fails me, the Bible never does! It is only biblical knowledge that can make sense of the apparently senseless.

by David Tait

The Bible tells us that when sin increases, grace also abounds. Although I can't promise Christians an easy time in life, based on Scripture, I can certainly assure them that God's grace and light will shine brighter through them as the darkness increases.

(Reprinted from TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) a weekly publication from International Circle of Faith and Editor in Chief - David Tait). A new series, looking at the some of the changes we need to make to move from a 'church' to a 'kingdom' mindset.

Many of my friends would explain the current events in the world as the great "falling away" that will occur before the return of Christ. Certainly they have every reason to believe that. But I am in the business of reminding them that, regardless of this turmoil, our call is to lift up Jesus to all. And through lifting Him up, some may come to believe and be redeemed.

INTRODUCTION

Not only is our God in control of history, He is the author and finisher of history. Therefore, He will have the last word. So, my friends, get busy lifting up Jesus. Take courage and look up. For the day of your redemption draws nigh.

The more I grow in Jesus, the more I study history, and the more revelation the Lord gives me, the more I see the differences between where we are as 'the church' and where we should be as integral members of 'the kingdom' of God. Surely the two are the same? Yes, they are meant to be. But the reality is that they are not. For over the 2000 odd years since Jesus, the church has become an 'institution', with a life of its own, rather than being an 'instrument' to build God's kingdom. Please don't get me wrong! The church does many good things. It has spread the Good News of Jesus around most of the earth. It is the leading supplier of social services worldwide. It has influenced society and history over the last

17

2000 years more than any other institution. One third of the world's population is Christian, or nominally so. So considerable milestones have been achieved.

TESTIMONY When the Lord started speaking to me about the church, approaching 20 years ago now, people were generally not interested in what He was saying to me. It was like hitting your head against a brick wall!

Yet, is the church today truly ushering in the kingdom of God? Do we really mean, or believe it, when we pray.....

But over the past 10 years there has been a lot more interest and understanding of what the Lord is saying and requiring of us, His people, in these end days. All round the world He is giving a similar kingdom or apostolic message and vision to individuals and groups of people. None has it all, or gets it all right, for there is a huge change in mindset required for the messengers as well as the people. Yes, we are nearly all imbued in church ways! As well, all are human, able to make mistakes in hearing from God, adding in bits from our own minds and experience. No-one is perfect, least of all, me!

10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10) Sadly, the reality is, in much of the church, God's kingdom has become man's kingdom, where the protection and promotion of the individual church, denomination or grouping, has become more important in men's minds than building the kingdom of God. We have moved from a single church kingdom in the 1st century to over 30,000 church kingdoms now!

But, in spite of this, there is gradually arising a body of people who are becoming increasingly sold out to Jesus, ones whose desire it is to put His kingdom ahead of their own, both as individuals and as a church, ones whose whole desire is to be in the bride for whom Jesus is returning..... 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) (Revelation 19:7-8)

From the death of the Apostle John round AD100, we saw the gradual erosion of the Apostolic foundations of the church. With the conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine, the church became a human based institution furthering the ends of the state, or the clergy, or both. The Reformation brought some of the foundational truths back into the church which have been built upon over the centuries since. However churches, whether of traditional, evangelical, charismatic or Pentecostal hues have created further division, instead of unity, within the body of Christ.

Come Jesus, come. To receive the rest of these teachings join our mailing list:

'Why is this?' and 'What are we to do about it?' are at the heart of what we will look at over the weeks ahead.

Marijuana is the second leading cause of traffic fatalities and sends over 200,000 Americans to the emergency room every year. 40% of individuals arrested for crimes test positive for marijuana and most of us have seen first-hand the physical and mental health effects marijuana takes on friends and family.

LEGALIZED DRUGS IN THE UNITED STATES

Earlier this month, Colorado and Washington put the futures of youth across America in jeopardy with misguided decisions to legalize marijuana

We stand united in opposition to marijuana legalization

for recreational use. Marijuana remains designated a Schedule 1 controlled substance under Federal law – a designation imposed for its high potential for abuse and absence of any beneficial properties.

When marijuana legalization was proposed in California, the respected nonpartisan RAND corporation estimated consumption would rise by up to 50% if legalization passed, further compounding the devastating effects of marijuana on our communities.

The underserved community has been particularly hard hit by drug dealers pedaling marijuana, profiting while destroying the futures of too many young people. 19

The International Faith Based Coalition will not be silent in the face of this disturbing development in Colorado and Washington. We are currently working with our collaborative partners to call on President Obama to enforce Federal drug laws and put a stop to marijuana legalization plans.

We will be asking you both to sign this petition and to share it with your friends and family so we can overcome the legalizers and show massive opposition to drugs and support for the idea that young people deserve better than drugs. Friend, thank you for your support of the International Faith Based Coalition. Together we can stand against the devastating harm drugs have on our communities. Yours truly, Bishop Dr. Ron Allen President and CEO International Faith Based Coalition http://ifbc.us/ ICOF Vice President

Powerful pro-drug forces have already presented the President with 25,000 petitions in support of marijuana legalization. We will soon be joining with our partners in asking all people who care about drug free communities to sign a petition to the President urging him to enforce the law.

EDITORS NOTE: ICOF works hand in hand with Bishop Ron Allen and the IFBC. In our ongoing pledge to bring unity to the body of Christ we also want to eliminate unnecessary duplication of effort and resources. When it comes to the subject of substance abuse and it's effect on our culture we could find no one more qualified that Bishop Ron Allen and his capable team. They are a voice for all of us.

Let me illustrate by using three interesting generations of Biblical history. The lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob can be fittingly compared to the brief history of the Pentecostal church. Abraham --The First Generation Abraham prayed for everything he received. His walk with God was a lifetime of communion with his Maker. He was the predominant man of prayer in the Old Testament. Abraham built seven altars during his lifetime. An altar always speaks of sacrifice and selflessness. At an altar personality differences and conflicts are forgotten as men seek God. At an altar the Blood of cleansing is applied, and men are clean and free and new.

(Reprinted from the March 1968 issue of The Pentecostal Herald. From a sermon preached by Robert W. Taitinger, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the Eighth Pentecostal World Conference, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). If this was appropriate over 40 years ago, where are we now?

Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. So monumental was the character of this man that Paul painted his portrait in Galatians and declared that by faith we too are the sons of Abraham. Because Abraham was first and foremost a man of prayer, he became a great man of God.

There are some alarming tendencies in the Pentecostal church. It has happened to every church before it. If we are to survive the vicious ordeal, it will be because each generation realizes that victory and continuance must come by each individual having a personal encounter with God and receiving a personal Pentecost, being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. According to statistical surveys, a generation is 25 years. The Pentecostal church has thus produced its third generation. Our teen-agers represent a most decisive generation of this Pentecostal revival.

21

Over six decades ago God visited the earth with Pentecostal revival. In an old mansion used as a Bible school in Topeka, Kansas, a class studying the Book of Acts concluded that the Early Church received its dynamic power through the baptism in the Holy Ghost when they were visited by the phenomenon of speaking with other tongues. In a sovereign and salutary manner God began to pour out of His Spirit on hungry, seeking hearts-with revival bursting forth in every comer of the earth.

food they ate. They had to pray for clothing to wear and for courage to 'survive the criticism and contempt leveled at them because of their newfound experience. And they prayed men through to the baptism in the Holy Spirit. If there is anything that has made the fellowship of Pentecostal believers what it is today, it is prayer. It was born at an altar of prayer where the Holy Ghost came upon men and filled them with a burning desire to serve Christ. At those altars men were endued with power from on high. The Word of God was like a fire burning in their bones, as they preached and the Lord worked with them, confirming His Word with signs and wonders. The first generation of Pentecostal believers set before us an enviable example of Spirit-filled, victorious living. They gave birth to an organization that has circled the globe and now claims over 10 million members. As Abraham prayed for everything he received, so that first generation of praying Pentecostal leaders brought forth a church that has become perhaps the greatest force in the religious world today. Isaac --The Second Generation

Whether in Sweden or England, the USA or Brazil, the Orient, or the islands of the sea, the most predominant feature of these early meetings was the emphasis on prayer. The fathers of the Pentecostal fellowship were men who knew how to pray. They had to know how to pray. They prayed for most everything they had. They prayed for rent money, for fuel for the fire, for the 22

Many of us were born as secondgeneration Pentecostals, knowing little or nothing of the real worth of the spiritual blessing we had inherited. We never had a drunkard and a brawler for a father, and we knew not what it means to have a socialite for a mother.

Isaac inherited what he received. In Genesis 25:5 we read: "And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac." One who inherits a thing cannot appreciate it like the one who has earned it. The boy who inherits the home his father built with his own hands can never know its real worth. He knows nothing of the late hours of toil and of doing without that made the house a reality. No stress or strain, no amount of sacrifice is required to inherit something. Isaac was fortunate to be the son of a great man of God. He knew the things his father stood for. But being born the son of Abraham had not made him a spiritual character. Isaac had inherited a spiritual atmosphere and many privileges, yet in his life there lingered no memory of a personal encounter with God.

As children we were taken regularly to church where gospel choruses and personal testimonies .were an integral part of the service. We were never shocked when we heard someone speak in tongues; our parents had done it for years. They attributed their constancy and fervency to the fire of the Spirit that they received as they fasted and prayed and met God at an old fashioned altar of prayer. Then came the day when some of us discovered that although we had inherited much, we could not claim to be Pentecostal for we had never been to the Cross or to the Upper Room. I was one of them. I learned a solemn truth. You can teach a child the Bible. You can encourage him to memorize the Scriptures. You can take him to Sunday school. You can give him the rich heritage of a Christian home. But you cannot transmit or transfer a religious experience. The child has to dig his own spiritual well. He has to make his own personal contact with God. Only then will he burn with such an intense glow that men will recognize he has been with Jesus.

Later Isaac traversed the very places where his father Abraham had dug wells of water many years previously. He found the wells were stopped up, so he dug the wells of Abraham again. He removed the debris that had quenched the flow of life-giving water. He drank from the wells of his own digging. There he had his own experience.

23

that had motivated his forefathers. Sending his wives and belongings ahead, he remained alone to seek the God he had met at Bethel so many years before. During the long hours of the night he battled in prayer and tears, and was visited by a heavenly messenger who wrestled with him. The visitor struggled to escape. In desperation Jacob cried, "I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." In that victorious moment he received a new name, Israel, "prince with God." The thirdgeneration schemer had a personal encounter with the only One who could make him like his father and his grandfather. It had to come.

Jacob--The Third Generation Abraham prayed for everything he received. Isaac inherited most of what he received. Jacob schemed for much that he received. The third is often a perilous generation. Church history reveals it is usually a generation of nonconformists and rebels. Jacob was no exception. His life was marked by deceit. With goats' skins on his arms and neck he stepped into the presence of his aged father and deceitfully accepted the blessing that was not rightfully his.

I am afraid that too often the third Pentecostal generation is far removed from the praying men of faith and power that shepherded the formation of the church as we know it today.

He fled from the wrath of his father and his brother Esau. At Bethel he drove a hard bargain with God. He said, "If You will bless me, I will pay You a tithe of all I possess." He was a schemer. In Syria Jacob schemed for his cattle and there he became rich. He took two wives, reared a family, and became a prosperous man. Church history informs us there are certain hazards to the survival of a spiritual organism. The first generation of any religious movement is generally one of inspiration and revival. The second includes periods of building and numerical advances. But with the third generation there is the inevitable drift to social acceptance, materialism, and

Then one day God told him to go home. Now the picture became different. He thought about Esau. He recognized that his easy way to fame and fortune was catching up with him. So, realizing the shallowness of his life, he began to see how destitute he was of the noble characteristics and spiritual experiences 24

dependence upon human means. This generation knows little of the calloused hands, the ridicule, the blinding tears of travail, the price it cost to bring the church into being.

This third generation of Pentecostals must be the Church. When like Jacob he cries, "I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me," then God will come and revolutionize his life as He did the lives of our pioneers.

Like Jacob, our third generation must meet God for themselves. There is no shortcut to Pentecostal blessing. It has to come in the same way it came to Abraham and Isaac, to your father and mine. In the final analysis, it's not what you know, it's whom you know --God. It's not what you possess but what you really are that counts. All the modern inventions, all the religious entertainment, all the beautiful facilities money can provide can never take the place of .the Pentecostal power that fostered the church.

In the third generation we see some alarming tendencies. The spirit of this distinctive group is to depart from the traditional paths. But let me say that we also have great cause to be encouraged. We have seen Pentecostal teen-agers and young adults rise with a determination to serve God with a burning passion, to know Him and make Him known. They have prostrated themselves at the altars of our camp meetings and wept tears of commitment in the prayer rooms of our churches. They have taken a hold on Pentecostal truth. Like Jacob they have cried for a revelation of that truth in their own hearts.

It isn't enough for a teen-ager to hear his father pray. He must learn to pray for himself. It isn't enough to hear his mother speak in tongues. He must have a personal Pentecost. It isn't enough to go to church.

The future is as bright as the promises of God. We rejoice in the prospect of a victorious Church that will move on like a mighty army until the Lord Jesus returns. It is "not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord."

“Five-Fold Roundtables.” The premise behind the Five-Fold Roundtable is simple: establish local and state-level roundtable groups, consisting of (at minimum) at least one individual from each ministry gift outlined in Ephesians 4:11-13 (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teacher).

ICOF NORTH AMERICA

The roundtable approach ensures no one individual sits at the “head of the table,” rather, each individual is regarded as a peer, as were the Apostles in the Book of Acts. The establishment of these roundtable groups will ensure that all participating ministries and ministers have access to all ministry gifts, for the edification and maturing of the Body of Christ.

Bishop Derrick Day ICOF Secretary General for North America

Since being appointed to the office of Secretary General by the ICOF Fivefold Roundtable, I have been working with the Global ICOF leadership to help expand the Five-Fold leadership vision of the Presiding Bishop, Dr. Bernie Wade. This, at first blush, appears to be a daunting task. However, we are blessed with extraordinary leadership possessed with a singular vision. The Office of the Secretary General has taken the responsibility to expand the membership of ICOF in North America. The approach to growth will be aggressive in terms of marketing, but conservative regarding vetting and confirmation. While we realize growth is key to sustainability, we must ensure we know who labors among us (1 Thessalonians 5:12).

The Office of the Secretary General is reaching out to members across North America, canvassing them to find out if any are interested in serving as state- or provincial-level coordinators – or if they know anyone who is. State coordinators will be carefully screened before being nominated. Once confirmed and installed they will be given limited autonomy to carry out their duties within the framework of the Global vision. The state coordinators are responsible for scheduling and facilitating statelevel Five-Fold roundtable meetings and membership drives.

One means of accomplishing this will be the use of prayer breakfasts and luncheons. These events will serve as a vehicle for getting to know prospective members and allowing them to get to know ICOF. The Office of the Secretary General is also working to establish and empower what we call 26

Finally, the Office of Secretary General will communicate and work with the Secretaries General of Africa, Asia, South America, Australia, and Europe to develop best-practices for growth and sustainability and the integrity of ICOF Global.

ICOF Secretary General (North America)

In Nigeria, there is an abundance of billboards and posters extending invitations to this church or that, with the faces of the pastors prominently displayed on all of them. It seems many African ministries take their cues from the worst of their American counterparts.

I am both humbled and honored to serve the Kingdom of God in this capacity. I look forward to seeing strong growth and assisting ICOF in becoming a key organization in – and attaining significant impact for – the Kingdom of God.

If you have an event you're promoting that includes guest speakers, facial recognition is a great marketing tool. However, if its a general advertisement for the church or ministry, it is likely an ego trip on the part of leadership and promotion of a cult of personality.

By Dr. Robert Straube, Apostle Assistant Presiding Bishop

Dear State Director Candidate,

An Invitation: ICOF North America hopes that the material presented on these pages will help develop plans for their state members and ministries. These guidelines may also prove helpful for leaders of other ICOF programs that serve the organization with training for other ICOF ministry members. The ICOF Executive Committee desires to serve the North American synod by being a resource for offering a list of specific programs that are being used, and in helping to address the needs of ICOF members according to the “qualification guidelines” that have been specified. Toward that end, we welcome questions, suggestions and evaluations from those who are ICOF members. We pledge to maintain a current list of ideas that are benefiting the membership.

Like the apostles of the New Testament, I am a diligent student of the Word and have an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each day 28

I am learning more what Paul meant when he said, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier" (II Timothy 2:4).

Our Kingdom Building Values: The Holy Spirit's work will involve and necessitate the following paradigm changes:

I have nothing to gain from sharing these precious truths with you; in fact, even after preaching the Word with boldness and sincerity I sometimes receive ridicule in return from those who hold fast the traditions of men and do not have ears to hear. My and ICOF’s aim is not to repackage dead theological traditions and head knowledge but to present pure, life-giving truths from God's Word that have literally changed our lives. Remember: A change in allegiance — Jesus Christ is the King of His Kingdom (John 18:37), so He becomes our Lord and Master when we are transferred under His kingly rule. In ICOF we no longer serve ourselves and live after the desires of our flesh. As our King, Jesus now receives our loyalty, honor, and obedience. The Bible says that the Father "hath delivered us from the power of darkness [Satan], and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son" (Colossians 1:13).

"For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus" (I Timothy 3:13). According to Jesus and Paul, this is what qualifies us to teach and preach the Word. Remember, God doesn't call somebody because they are qualified; but He qualifies those He calls!

A change in priorities — As citizens of God’s Kingdom, we do not need to be anxious about our lives; even basic necessities are secondary to seeking first the priorities of the Kingdom. Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Paul told Timothy, "Godliness with 29

contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content" (I Timothy 6:68).

come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). We are called to live as strangers and pilgrims in this present world (I Peter 2:11), not living for temporal, momentary pleasures but rather seeking a heavenly inheritance with Christ in God's eternal Kingdom. Policies and Procedures: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES In the capacity as state director, you are responsible for: • fulfilling the purpose of ICOF of North America • executing and accomplishing the plans and objectives of the ICOF Executive Board • overseeing all ICOF ministry, charities, and objectives within the state

A change in values — The standards and principles of God's Kingdom are very different from those of the kingdom of darkness (see Matthew 23:1-12). Instead of esteeming worldly prosperity, self-image, education, success, and independence, we now value what matters to the King: heavenly treasures, a pure heart, the wisdom of God, servant hood, and total dependence upon the Holy Spirit. "As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, 'Be ye holy; for I am holy'" (I Peter 1:14-16).

SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES The state director should demonstrate a balanced approach to Christian living in: • a daily walk with God • family • local church • ministry

A change in purpose — Some people are driven to achieve their own goals while others live aimlessly with no direction. But Jesus' disciples are to live with divine purpose and make decisions based upon God's direction. Our prayer should be, "Thy kingdom 30

slaves of sin were brought to repentance and totally set free. Wherever he preached, church after church seemed to be effected in the same way.

JOHN WESLEY REDFIELD and THE POWER of PRAYER

On one occasion Mr. Redfield entered the pulpit with an especially intense and heavy burden pressing upon his heart. Without hesitation he began his message by clearly describing all those who had lived in the church for years without true saving grace; who had sat under the most searching gospel ministry; who had seen the truth lived out before them and yet rejected it all. With passion he warned all those who had shunned the narrow path of repentance and the cross of Christ. As Mr. Redfield spoke the Holy Spirit brought a shaking conviction of sin upon the entire congregation. Some cried out, some fell prostrate before they could get to the altar, and others fell at the altar. The slain lay in some places totally helpless, one upon another until the aisles were closed for hours. At this exact same time, people miles away also fell under the power of God in the seclusion of their own homes.

by David Smithers

The following from the pen of Catherine Booth should shake all who are lukewarm and indifferent. She writes, "Many do not recognize the fact as they ought, that Satan has got men fast asleep in sin and that it is his great device to keep them so. He does not care what we do if he can do that. We may sing songs about the sweet by and by, preach sermons and say prayers until doomsday, and he will never concern himself about us, if we don't wake anybody up. But if we awake the sleeping sinner he will gnash on us with his teeth. This is our work - to wake people up." John Wesley Redfield was a man who awakened both the sleeping sinner and careless Christian. When Mr. Redfield prayed or preached men and women were touched by Jesus and went home different than when they came. Under the influence of Mr. Redfield's ministry, the

John Wesley Redfield said of himself, "God has made me a rough man and given me a rough gospel for rough hearts." He preached holiness forcibly everywhere he went. This sometimes aroused great opposition, but it also brought 33

great results. Dead churches were revived, new ones were built and the sick were often healed. Mr. Redfield's doctrine and anointing were not borrowed from books, but born in prayer. "Frequently he would groan as if in the throes of death as he wrestled in prayer; then the victory would come. People shouted, prayed and confessed, many lost their strength and did not regain it until they promised obedience to God." Such manifestations of God's power frequently followed his ministry. Under Redfield's preaching in New York, people would run out the back doors of the meeting house trying to avoid the conviction of the Holy Spirit. They would then fall helpless in the streets under the power of God. When found later, they were assumed to be drunk and taken to jail. The first night this occurred the officers marveled, as one after another the once rebellious sinners, recovered, repentant and praising God.

The key to John Wesley Redfield's success was his total and unrelenting dependence upon Jesus Christ. Through many trials he had learned that he could truly do nothing apart from Jesus. Is it not true, that much of our failure to bring forth lasting change lies at the feet of our own self-dependence and pride? We must recover our simplicity and joy of devotion to Jesus. We must repent and put away our methods and programs of selfreliance and once again embrace the "better part" of sitting at the feet of Jesus in humility and prayer. (Luke 10:38-42)

Matthew 10:32-33 reminds us that denying Him before men will result in Jesus doing the same to us. The Word without the Spirit of God is a formula for dead religion.

Unapologetically Spiritual

Without faith, it is impossible to please Him. What is faith if it is controllable? Faith requires humility and humility recognizes the smallness of man. We cannot control God. Now is the time to embrace the power and giftings of His Spirit, therefore producing the fruit he longs to see in us.

Mark 17:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Some Christians purposely refrain from inviting friends or loved ones to their church from fear that the Spirit of God might show up and something uncontrollable happen. Many churches have operated so long without the Spirit of God that it’s become the acceptable way to do church. However, gathering in His name without His Holy Spirit is not gathering for Him at all. The passage of scripture above should not be a part of the Word of God that we overlook, ignore or feel ashamed of. The Spirit of God that allows us to do these things is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead and is the power of God within us. He (the Holy Spirit) is our seal and guarantee of Jesus’ return.

United States. 2007 - HOUSING CRISIS - Start of the worst (by far) housing crash in US history. Millions lose their homes across the nation.

IS AMERICA Under JUDGMENT? by Andrew Strom

2008 - FINANCIAL PANIC - The beginning of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. (-Still ongoing). 2011 - TORNADO OUTBREAK - The largest outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded. (Also the costliest and most devastating). 2012 - DROUGHT - The worst US drought in more than half a century. 2012 - SUPER-STORM - A 1000-mile-wide hurricane that slams into New York and the East Coast harder than any ever recorded.

Our heart certainly goes out to the people caught up in recent disasters. I have been involved in disaster relief myself, and know how heart-rending it can be. But still, this question needs to be asked. Last week's "Super-storm" - the worst ever recorded on the East Coast and the financial center of the USA - was just one in a long line of "historic" catastrophes to hit the United States in the last 11 years. It follows right on the heels of one of the worst droughts ever recorded in America which occurred this summer - the most severe in more than half a century.

QUESTION - Is God allowing this terrible shaking in order to wake the nation from its deadly spiritual slumber? There was a time when America spread righteousness in the earth. But today the USA is the # 1 exporter of porn, youth rebellion and homosexuality to the whole world. Does this have anything to do with what is happening?

In the past I have asked readers to ponder whether the Lord has lifted His hand of protection off the USA more and more, beginning with 9-11. Below is an astonishing list of major disasters that have occurred one after the other in America since 2001:

America is the "leader" in so many things. Are there other reasons why she might be under judgment? (It is not that the USA is "worse" than many other nations - but rather that she is a 'leader' - influencing the whole earth with these things. It is this place of "leadership" that makes America a unique case).

2001 - TWIN TOWERS - The worst ever attack on American soil. The most devastating event in living memory. 2005 - HURRICANE KATRINA - The most destructive hurricane in US history. 2007 - MASSACRE AT VIRGINIA TECH - The worst school shooting in the history of the 37

Choosing a church to attend is no longer a matter of finding where the Word of God is taught and where people are striving to live in a manner that pleases God. It is now a matter of finding a church that has the best programs, preferred music, and activities.

A CULTURE ADDICTED to "SELF" by 'Pastor Dave' (From the ICOF FORUM)

Yesterday, I read a report about an Ohio State University study involving 900 adults ranging in age from 18 to 90 which claimed that young Americans place such a high value on their sense of self-worth that they crave praise and compliments more than food, friendship, and sex! The study also observed that this craving is akin to an addiction. It is insatiable. The participants in the study are not all narcissists, of course, but they're kissin' cousins.

American Christians have become consumers rather than practitioners. We look for the most enjoyable services, the most convenient schedules, the most engaging presentations, and the programs that fulfill our desires to the greatest degree. We seem drawn to the churches that are most like the world. Our primary concern about church is not how we can serve the church body, but how the church body can serve us.

The professor who conducted the study identified the 1969 book The Psychology of Self-Esteem as the launching point for a generation of Americans obsessed with self-esteem. He concluded that the obsession is only going to get worse -- "as each new generation enters a culture that puts a premium on self-worth, younger Americans spend more time craving and searching for self-esteem boosts--and less time thinking about others. All that time spent thinking about yourself not only contributes to depression, but it makes society a less kind and gentle place."

Churches that are preaching that Christians are deserving of and entitled to good things, happiness, blessings, and personal fulfillment are bursting at the seams. Churches that preach poorness in spirit, mournfulness for sin, meekness, purity in heart, and a hunger for righteousness, are struggling to find people willing to listen. Are we witnessing the fulfillment of Paul's warning to Timothy, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."

The seismic shift that began in 1969 has resulted in the tsunamis of Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, reality TV shows and life enhancement church services. Americans just can't seem to get enough of being true to self, expressing self, fulfilling self, improving self and advancing self. This addiction has had an enormous impact on the Christian community.

We can't be hungry for righteousness and addicted to self at the same time.

gave him His Spirit! O' Happy Day. Bobby Sutton would go on to marry, have children and serve as a missionary for a number of years until finally settling into the pastorate of a US congregation. Life was fairly good for Bobby Sutton. However, Satan had a plan. Like Joseph in the bible, there was a woman who wanted to spend some intimate time with Pastor Sutton. Unfortunately, this woman was not his wife. Unlike Joseph who resisted and then fled from the charms of his temptress, Bobby Sutton could not overcome her temptation in time.

country lawfully and that this was a ploy to separate us from our money. After about thirty minutes of haranguing (and without paying anything, glory to God) we were on our way.

Africa Report by Bishop Derrick Day

We were met by Reverend Mike and his driver, who took us to a hotel to stay the night before flying to Uyo the next day. Reverend Mike is a godly man, who pastors a church in Lagos WITH NO ROOF! He operates in Kingdom revelation and is as bold about the Gospel of the Kingdom as he is humble in every other way.

I just returned from spending three weeks in Nigeria, and it was both a revelation and a study in contrasts.

The following day, we were off to the airport to fly to Uyo. We hit a snag, though, when we “discovered” our luggage was “overweight” and had to pay a fee (more on that, later). Once this was squared away, we were on our way. Landing in Uyo was my first study in contrasts. Whereas Lagos had a sense of busy-ness, Uyo was serene by comparison. We were picked up from the airport by Dr. Regina Ubon-Abassi, the wife of Bishop Daniel and his aide and driver, Deacon Ini Amah, who drove us to the office of Bishop Daniel.

First of all, I want to thank my traveling companion and dear Brother, Dr. Barney Phillips and our host, Bishop Daniel Joseph UbonAbassi. Without Barney, I would not have had the invitation to visit Nigeria. And Bishop Daniel was the “host-with-the-most,” as he provided all the logistics and provision for the trip.

From the word, “go,” I knew we met the “real deal” in Bishop Daniel! Of course, Barney and he had already met, but he treated me like a long-lost brother. We immediately dived into the work at hand, planning for our first trip – to Port Harcourt. The first interesting thing about this trip is Bishop Daniel was adamant about traveling

Our first stop was Lagos, the termination of our non-stop flight from Atlanta. We cruised quickly through immigration then had about an hour delay in retrieving our luggage. Once we obtained our luggage, we were met with our first “scam,” where a young man insisted we have “yellow cards,” or vaccination certification. Barney and I were insistent that, as this was not required for our visas, that we were in the 45

during daylight hours, as the road between Uyo and Port Harcourt is known for bandits. However, as a precaution, he arranged for Nigerian State Police escorts, replete with requisite AK-47s.

women. Dr. Regina really has a heart for women in distressed situations. She and a Sister (an Apostle whose name I do not recall) took care packages, including clothing, shoes, and food to the church and blessed over fifty women.

Our time in Port Harcourt was very productive. We were hosted by Bishop Chris Ebata of His Grace International Ministries. Between Barney and myself, we preached several times over three days, each time opening up the altar for prayer, healing, and impartation. Barney also conducted a workshop on ICOF and the ICOF Global chaplaincy. Of course, this good time was interrupted by some harsh realities. Much of the wealth of Nigeria is concentrated in oil, and most of this oil is transported by truck over the nation's highways. But Port Harcourt is an environmental disaster area, with smog thick enough to cut with a knife, fumes from local refineries fill the air, and the roads are pitted with craters large enough to hide a small car in.

We then took a Sunday to rest and relax, then Monday, we hit the ground running. Bishop Daniel asked us to review, evaluate, and critique several business plans intended to garner funding for a variety of projects running the gamut of agricultural, industrial, residential, and educational. Most of the proposals were frightfully thin and lacking detail. What began as an exercise in evaluation quickly morphed into a full-blown training program on how to write effective proposals. I was able to utilize my skills as a consultant to help develop a trainthe-trainer scenario. This was very effective, as

brothers Udoh and Prince Monday took what I taught them, refined it, and personalized it when they delivered the training. In my opinion, they were better trainers than myself.

promoting this church or that church. Very few churches seem to work together and there is a great deal of fiefdom building instead of Kingdom building. One of the areas where ICOF may be effective is in the promotion of Church unity. On the other hand, there are men such as Bishop Daniel, who are working with multiple pastors and churches to change the spiritual AND economic climate of Nigeria. The last leg of my journey took us to Anambra state. Here, we commissioned the ICOF Women of Faith, as well as the ICOF Global chaplaincy. During this trip, Barney preached one evening service on the theme, “Forget It and Drive On (FIDO), and preached the paint off the walls! Of course, we had an altar call and a time of impartation. We also met the pastor of the host church, Pastor Tony, a man clothed in humility. He was content to sit in the shadows but I had to call him out and cite him for both his hospitality and his humility.

The next weekend, we were invited to preach at the church of a Pastor, who took over and grew the church her late husband planted. I was blessed to preach on the Authority of the Believer. After the message, we opened the altar for salvation, healing, and impartation. There were nearly a hundred adults who came expecting to receive something but, more importantly, there were an equal number of children. It was truly a blessing being able to minister to the children. One of the problems with Nigeria, as far as the Church is concerned, is that denominational factions run rampant. Every major city, and even the side roads, in every place traveled in Nigeria is covered with posters and billboards

Bishop Daniel Joseph Ubonabasi with Bishop Derrick Day

The trip to and from Anambra had us traveling roads that made the roads in Port Harcourt look like white-concrete paved superhighways. Most of the roads we traveled were dirt-roads that were paved and graded purely in the most abstract manner. 47

Ultimately, all good things must come to an end. After three weeks of preaching, teaching, and ministering, it was time to return home to my wife, my children, and my ministry. All in all, I think we accomplished a great deal. Moreover, in meeting Bishop Daniel and his family, I have expanded my own family. One of the sad legacies of slavery in America was the stripping of name, language, and cultural identity. Bishop Daniel adopted me into his family and began teaching me his language and cultural customs. I asked him what did his surname, Ubon-Abassi, mean? He replied, the tribe or people of the Most High God. I then asked him, how do I say, “I am Ubon-Abassi? He told me, and with this I will close:

Now, let me interrupt my own writing to say something really important. I have cited some things that are really bad, however, there is a sense of hope among Nigeria's people. Many have a faith in the power of God that many in America would be envious of. I've had the opportunity to speak with children, and the things they want to be when they grow up are astonishing: doctors, attorneys, soldiers, and even astronauts! Also, where many would see simply abject poverty and substandard living conditions, I am in covenant agreement with my Brothers, Bishop Daniel and Dr. Phillips, that I see opportunity. There is tremendous opportunity to spread the true Gospel of the Kingdom. When I was blessed with the opportunity to preach it, I actually saw lives prepare for change. Additionally, I see tremendous economic opportunity that will bless the people of Nigeria, the rest of the continent of Africa, and even the world!

Ime nkere Ubon-Abassi! (pronounced, eye-may en-ker-ay oo-bon-a-bassee)

LIFE IN THE DEEP, DARK PIT A man fell into a pit and couldn't get himself out. A subjective person came along and said, "I feel for you down there." An objective person walked by and said, "It's logical that someone would fall down there." A Pharisee said, "Only bad people fall into pits." A mathematician calculated how deep the pit was.

HELL IS FULL!

A news reporter wanted the exclusive story on the pit.

A college drama group presented a play in which one character would stand on a trapdoor and announce, "I descend into hell!" A stagehand below would then pull a rope, the trapdoor would open, and the character would plunge through.

An IRS agent asked if he was paying taxes on the pit. A self-pitying person said, "You haven't seen anything until you've seen my pit."

The play was well received.

A fire-and-brimstone preacher said, "You deserve your pit."

When the actor playing the part became ill, another actor who was quite overweight took his place. When the new actor announced, "I descend into hell!" the stagehand pulled the rope, and the actor began his plunge, but became hopelessly stuck.

A Christian Scientist observed, "The pit is just in your mind." A psychologist noted, "Your mother and father are to blame for your being in that pit." A self-esteem therapist said, "Believe in yourself and you can get out of that pit."

No amount of tugging on the rope could make him descend. One student in the balcony jumped up and yelled: "Hallelujah! Hell is full!"

An optimist said, "Things could be worse." A pessimist claimed, "Things will get worse." "Jesus, seeing the man, took him by the hand and lifted him out of the pit." Submitted by David Tait

Dr. Daniel Joseph Ubonabasi Chairman of the ICOF African Roundtable leading a business meeting. ICOF WOMEN FOR CHRIST MEETING

Dr. Wade, Praise the Lord Jesus! The Lord is steadily uniting the Fivefold here in Africa. My present concern is agreeing on a specific date and time for our ICOF African Fivefold Meetings. For now, one of our major difficulty is internet connection - especially now with the very heavy rains (we had rain fall here in Buea, non-stop for 4 good days, until today that we have seen some sunshine!), thus causing Skype to become fairly ineffective.

In an effort to share the work that ICOF members around the world are doing for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ we share this overview from our members, friends and partners:

AFRICA ICOF NIGERIA

Well, the future is very promising! International Business is helping to bring into Africa modern and quality communication gadgets - Mobiles, Ipods, etc. I see the Lord also blessing His people! It is well! Please, have a blessed day! Love you all!
