THE BIG PICTURE
ELECTRIC LINE OPERATION
We have the in-house capability to self-perform the installation, repair, maintenance, and relocation of overhead and underground conductors and equipment.
• Excavate and set poles in remote areas
• Electric system hardening to reduce wildfire risks
• Complex cable replacement projects
DESIGN
Charge’s team of in-house engineers specialize in designing for utility infrastructure. The plans we create come from decades of experience in trenching, boring and constructing.
• Mobile home park upgrade project design
• EV charging infrastructure
• Joint trench, gas and electric distribution design
UTILITY CONSTRUCTION
Charge specializes in design and construction of gas and power utility infrastructure.
• Gas distribution/transmission
• Electric infrastructure
• Joint trench installations
• Water pipelines
DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
Our roots exist in horizontal directional drilling and we retain that expertise today, using boring equipment to minimize our construction footprint and impose less risk on adjacent utilities.
• Capability for most distribution and transmission pipe installation scenarios
• Constructability review and pre-engineering support
• Regulatory and closeout documentation development

LOCAL RESOURCES
Strategically distributed throughout the West Coast, Charge teams solve complex utility issues, build critical gas and power infrastructure, and respond when natural disasters strike to help keep utilities running smoothly. PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
We share your commitment to build sustainable relationships with diverse suppliers. This stems from co-founder Mike Robirds and the experience he gained in the military and through community service. It has helped shape a mentality of being a diverse company that wants to help other diverse companies develop into sustainable businesses with solid management practices. Charge companies are Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DBVE) certified and we make every effort to support diverse businesses when procuring partners and subcontractors.
FLEXIBILITY
West Coast utilities face unprecedented challenges coupled with an increased demand on an aging infrastructure. Charge companies are built to rise to the challenge with flexible resources and complementary service offerings. From small projects to large-scale EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) portfolios, Charge can help you meet the infrastructure needs of today and far into the future.
SAFETY
As builders of the grid, we understand the importance of safe and scalable energy distribution to the communities in which we live. Our name is a nod to our military background, our forward-thinking approach and mission-oriented team dynamic, and the utilities that charge our lives. As you continue to grow and prepare for a sustainable future, our shared values of integrity, safety, quality, and community are in natural alignment.
OUR STRENGTH COMES FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OUR TEAM
One of the inspirations for the name, Charge, came from the notion of being charged with doing what’s right when no one is looking. As we take on the responsibility of building the “last mile” for utility companies like yours, our entire team takes pride in doing the job with utmost safety and professionalism. Not only are we building the grid, we’re protecting each other and serving the communities in which we live.

BUTTE COUNTY REBUILD
Paradise, California
With efforts underway to rebuild the city of Paradise, VPC was one of three contractors selected for an EPC model portfolio (Engineer, Procure, Construct) to provide gas and electric infrastructure to residential spaces. Through these efforts more residents are able to move back into the community while also being provided with new, safe and reliable energy sources. As part of this work, VPC connected service to 419 new mobile home spaces in seven parks. Additionally, Charge companies are working to rebuild gas and power infrastructure as part of the Community Rebuild and Resiliency Program.

SYSTEM HARDENING
Napa County, California
VPI completed a 3.6-mile project along Pope Valley Road in Napa County as part of a larger award to underground 39 circuit miles of power lines, strengthening electric system reliability against wildfire threat. For this project, VPI helped negotiate revised restoration standards with the county, which kept the project on a tight schedule while saving our client nearly a half-million dollars in restoration costs.
