BY MOLLY SUN, FORMER ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF
The most memorable CH-CH memory for Harson was taking Mr. Cooke’s rock climbing co-curricular class and zip-lining every spring. “I loved hanging out with my best friend, Shuaiqi “David” Huang ‘20, and couldn’t wait for spring to start,” said DuringLiu.his
four years, Harson received a lot of personal care from his teachers, supporting his academic and personal growth. He credits the support and encouragement he received from Math Department chair Mike Daniels as the reason for choosing Business as his major. “He was my senior presentation advisor and math teacher,” said Liu, “and he helped me decide to combine economics and math for my college major.”
Ms. Lacoste, CH-CH’s Theatre Director, helped Harson learn to express himself and come out of his shell. “I was shy and introverted when I first came to the CH-CH,” says Liu. “Ms. Lacoste inspired me to try theatre, and I ended up acting on stage!”
In his early years, living in China and studying in a very traditional education system, Harson did not understand the meaning of giving or charitable donations. After he came to CH-CH, he was learning drama and theater performance in the previous Barn theater. In his senior year, however, he was lucky enough to take his drama class in the brand new Mankiw Theater of the Visual & Performing Arts Center. “I
noticed so many improvements: a bigger stage, a seating area, a new lighting system, and so much more,” said Liu. “I really got to see the impact that the support from all of the CH-CH families and community made on my experience.”
Harson was so touched by the improve ments and would love to continue to give back to the community to make the School a better place for future students.
He is currently studying at Babson College, and spending a semester abroad at The London School of Economics. He would like to thank Ms. Fincke who knew him very well and helped him with the decision to go to Babson College. He is happy that Babson is such a good fit for him. really got to see

Rita RossWiles’72 CH-CH: COMMUNITY&WELCOMINGAAFFIRMING
BY LESLIE JACOBSON KAYE P’20, CHIEF ADVANCEMENT OFFICER
“When I think back to the merger and my experience at Chapel HillChauncy Hall, I marvel at how international the community was, including myself, a daughter of a Liberian diplomat in England. As the President of our Senior Class, I was proud of how our 1972 class joined together with a feeling that the big tent included everyone and that your aspirations and desire to achieve were encouraged and undergirded.”
“For today’s students, continue the tradition of being a welcoming and affirming community. Thank you to my former faculty: Sharon Quarles, Louise Schulze, Beatrice Smith, Paul Economides, Lee Colby Wilson, Margaret Fitzgerald, and Roy Hatt (Head of School).”
Rita feels fortunate that she was able to keep building on the solid foundation Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall provided during her high school career. She went on to Tufts and graduated in 1976, followed by Boston College Law School where she graduated in 1980. After completing a one-year judicial clerkship with the judges
on the Massachusetts Superior Court, she represented the Commonwealth as an attorney with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services, prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases in New Bedford, MA. From there, she joined the Legal Division of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 1983 until 2013, when she concluded her legal career spanning 30 years of public service as a banking/financial services lawyer.
Rita has made reconnecting/re-engaging and donating to Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall a priority. Her desire comes from a place of deep gratitude to her teachers from 1970
to 1972, the current faculty, and to honor and affirm the outstanding CH-CH teachers of the future.
She strongly believes that it’s important that in addition to being grateful to one’s parents, teachers, mentors, and those that have helped you and shaped you along the way, you need to “grab the brass ring and run with it! Carpe diem! When a fabulous opportunity like the Chapel HillChauncy Hall experience is offered to you, recognize the gift you’ve been given. Own it, and enjoy the journey.”
