• Coastal Carolina made its second consecutive and ninth overall NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011. The Chanticleer earned an at-large berth after compiling a 17-3 regular season record. • The Chanticleers hosted and defeated Southern Conference champion Elon, 3-2, in front of 582 fans at the CCU Soccer Field. • The Chanticleers took top-seeded and eventual national champion North Carolina to the brink of elimination in the second round, but ultimately fell 3-2. Coastal scored first in the match and twice held a one goal lead as Ashton Bennett and TeeJay East recorded goals.

2011 Big South Regular Season Champions • Coastal earned its 10th Big South regular season championship in 2011 after tallying a perfect 9-0 conference mark.

National Scoring Champions • Coastal Carolina finished the season with the NCAA’s most lethal attack. The Chanticleers ranked tops in the nation in both scoring offense (3.0 goals per game) and total goals (66 total goals). • Individually, Ashton Bennett ranked first in the NCAA with 23 total goals, first in total points (53.0) and first in points per game (2.41). Bennett finished the season ranked second in goals per game with 1.05.

Nationally Respected • Coastal Carolina garnered national attention in 2011 for its impressive play on the field. The Chanticleers ranked as high as ninth in numerous national polls during the season before finishing the season ranked 16th in the final NSCAA poll, the official poll recognized by the NCAA. • Ashton Bennett earned first team NSCAA All-American honors as Pedro Ribeiro garnered third team plaudits. Cyprian Hedrick was named to the 2011 NSCAA Men’s Collegiate Scholar All-American first team

The Big South’s Finest • Not only has Coastal Carolina been the Big South’s most successful program (10 regular season titles/10 Tournament titles), but the Chants 4-3 victory over Elon in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship was the first win for a Big South member institution since the 2003 squad defeated North Carolina (3-0) before ultimately falling to Santa Clara 2-3 in the third round of the tournament.

2-1 vs. Ranked Opponents • Coastal Carolina finished the regular season with two wins over top 25 programs at home. After falling to then No. 23 UNC Charlotte in its season opener, Coastal outlasted No. 16 VCU 2-1 in double overtime and dismantled No. 21 Ohio State, 2-0, on back-to-back Sunday’s in September.
