Mat er i al Ma s ter I n for i alm s atio Inf PLASTIC STRAW WASTE A plastic straw has become a huge problem since it is a short-time use product which will become trash.

Resolving trash problem will effectively benefit environment. Also, consumers are involved with this problem according to their desire for convenience. As a result, people cause the increase of trash which mostly ends ep either in the ocean or underground.

The root of a plastic straw and its issues.

When plastic straws are disposed, they actually interrupt a recycling process as plastic straw are made of the same type of plastic which to make film. Therefore, it is necessary to have specific process to recycle plastic straws. Another problem is that plastic straw are not separate from any other waste during recycling process due to the high cost of recycling machine. Consequently, it can be overpriced to invest on machines that can only be used to recycling plastic straws.

Materials Information The survey indicated that plastic straws in Thailand has been wasted approximately 100 million pieces a day, or approximately 322 million tons a year (approx.292,113,486,280 kilograms a year).

This waste takes around 400-450 years to be completely decomposed.

That’s explain why there are a large number of waste nowadays.
