Arlana Miller committed suicide
Arlana Miller; 19 posted her final words on Instagram and was found deceased May 4, 2022, in a Mississippi river. Arlana was from Dallas Texas and currently a student and cheerleader at Southern University and A&M college, her study; agriculture. Arlanas death has brought tears and heavy hearts to the world. Even though Arlana left a message for us, we're still left asking Why? Her father Arthur Miller spoke to KNOE News saying, “ I mean she was the most loving little girl I could have ever asked for,” He continued to say, “ She texted me the night before she walked into the water, and she said, please pray for me,” Miller goes on to say he didn’t know what was wrong he called her twice and after no answer, left a prayer on her voicemail. Janice Miller, Arlanas Mother is now running her daughter's social media accounts according to dailymail.co.uk and leaves messages to her daughter expressing her pain and guilt. One post reads: “ R.I.P To My Daughter Arlana Miller As A Mother This Is Hurting Me Soo Much Maybe I Should Of Checked On My Daughter Mental Health I Feel Like Everything My Fault….” Dr. Irvin, a licensed psychologist and the director of the counseling center at SU says: “ The three top concerns college students present to their counseling centers are anxiety, depression and stress.” She went on to say to WAFB channel 9 that the pandemic and social media has compounded these problems. Dr. Irvin continued adding “ Especially among young women I work with, the comparison they put themselves through because of what they see in the media , which is probably half truth, but they don’t think it’s half the truth.”
