Why it is Important to Know Pupillary Distance Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the center of each pupil. This is necessary as it is used to determine where you look through the lens of your glasses. Optometrists may use various tools and techniques and eye exams in the Bronx to measure PD and get other details about your eyes. If the PD is wrong or out of tolerance, you won’t be able to focus your eyes together properly. Hence it is important to ensure that your PD is as accurate as possible.
