PRESIDENT | CEO How do I get involved with the Chandler Chamber? We are more than halfway through the year and you may be wondering how to get involved with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. Joining the Chandler Chamber of Commerce has long been a useful business strategy for small businesses. 1. Attend Chamber Events We know how time-consuming it can be to run a business but make it a priority to attend Chamber events when possible. This is your Chamber, and your participation contributes not only to the success of these events but also to the business community. 2. Communicate With Members Don’t hesitate to bring your ideas, questions, and concerns to me and Chamber Team. Your input is appreciated! Not only does it make for a stronger organization, but we also communicate regularly with our government officials and can help your voice be heard in your community. 3. Promote Members’ Businesses Chamber members share contracts and opportunities by accessing and recommending each other’s business. The more you recommend other members, the more likely they are to do the same for you. This is a team effort! 4. Join A Chamber Committee The Chandler Chamber has various boards and committees that allow you to work directly with community leaders, as well as be a leader yourself. These committees always welcome new members and are a great way to network. Service on Chamber committees and boards can help you build stature in your community. The Chandler Chamber provides you many tools to help you make your business grow; all you have to do is dedicate a little time. Get involved in your Chamber and take ownership! To learn more about making the most of your membership, explore our website at www.chandlerchamber.com or follow us on Social Media.
Business & Relocation Guide
The Chandler Chamber of Commerce has partnered again with E&M Consulting, Inc. to produce our Business & Relocation Guide. The publication will be available in both print and digital formats. E&M will be contacting all members about the advertising opportunities available. The publication will be mailed to every member – a great opportunity to promote and give your company additional exposure. If you have any questions or would like to advertise, please contact an E&M sales associate at 800-572-0011 ext.8005 or advertising@eandmsales.com. As always, your support is greatly appreciated!

Rick Heumann CMA
BOARD CHAIR
Every fall the Chamber board begins its process of interviewing and appointing new board members. The committee is traditionally led by the past board chair and reviews applications, conducts interviews, then presents their recommendations to the Executive Board for vote and the full Chamber Board after that. The term begins in January with a swearing-in ceremony at the first meeting of the new year. Joining the Chandler Chamber board is an excellent opportunity to deepen your Chamber network, hone your leadership skills, and offer your voice to the conversation as we determine the direction of the Chamber. We are looking for board members who are willing to be engaged and active. It’s a three-year commitment of attending a 2-hour monthly meeting in addition to a mandatory half-day retreat. That is just the basics.
Even more importantly, we need representation from ALL of our Chamber membership, whether they are small business owners or CEOs of our largest employers. The Chamber has long been a voice for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, which needs to be reflected in our board leadership. That includes a diversity of thought, so we need members who are open to sharing their ideas, even when they seem to go against the majority. We hope you’ll be inspired to apply. If you aren’t quite ready yet, please consider joining or leading one of the many committees available at the Chamber. Those committees are a great entryway into board leadership, which in turn offers an experience as valuable to you, as your generous gift of time is to the Chamber. Looking forward to seeing a new slate of board members and seeing where they will lead us!
CHAMBER NON-PROFITSPOTLIGHT Rotary Club of Sun Lakes continues to lead Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (Chartered April 22, 1986) is a leadership organization made up of men and women from local businesses, professional, education, civic and emerging leaders. The Rotary Club meets regularly, get to know each other, form friendships, and through that we’re able to get things done in our greater Sun Lakes community. Come join us at Wake Up Chandler and learn about our passion for community service and friendship.

FROM THE MAYOR Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke
Chandler Higher Education
Students from kindergarten to college will be back in class this year to continue their education journeys. Chandler is home to some of the best schools in the state. It’s also a place where residents have access to a variety of higher learning options,
something that can be a key selling point when attracting new businesses. Here are a few examples. Earlier this year, ChandlerGilbert Community College (CGCC) launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) incubator lab that is now accessible to students. It’s also home to the Chandler Early College High School Program, which places highly motivated younger students in a setting to earn college credits early. The University of Arizona Global Campus, which is the online arm of UofA, recently opened a campus in Chandler. Additionally, we celebrated the first graduating
class of The University of Arizona Eller College of Management, which launched a new Professional MBA program in June 2020. The course focused on topics such as data visualization, artificial intelligence, interpreting data and decision-making. More than 44% of Chandler residents have bachelor’s degree or higher – this is 14% above the statewide average. It’s important for our City to continue offering this unique blend of higher learning opportunities. They feed our talented pool of residents, which ultimately leads to more new businesses.

• 48,160 ounces of icing • 31,488 ounces of a combination of water, sugar, yeast, fats, and eggs • 19,200 ounces of flour • 5,400 lbs. of iced doughnuts • 660 bakery sheet pans • 45 rolls of butcher paper Congratulations to this Chandler staple on this huge milestone and amazing accomplishment. This is one for the record books (literally)! www.bashas.com

CCCF LEADERSHIP
INSTITUTE
The Chandler Chamber Community Foundation Leadership Institute Class 38 completed another successful issue day! July’s issue day highlighted the Healthcare industry within the Chandler area. The focus of this issue day was to learn about the healthcare options in our community and discover what is in store for the future. The class had the opportunity to tour Chandler Regional Medical Center as well as hear from hospital representatives including COO Jeff McBee. They received an informative hard hat tour of the new Women
Healthcare Issue Day and Children’s Pavilion at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. On top of hearing from multiple MGMC representatives, Class 38 learned about the Pet Therapy program and how it positively impacts patients. To wrap up the day, Class 38 received updates and insight from Banner Ocotillo Medical Center Sr. Director of Finance, Nicole Wright. In addition, Class 38 also learned about how the Healthcare sector plays a key role in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion through their monthly DE&I discussion with Tyler Conaway, Chandler Chamber DE&I Committee Co-Chair.
