The 32nd Annual Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival was a huge success!

After two years away, we were proud to bring back this monumental event for not one, but two weekends in 2022! I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all the volunteers that came out and worked this year’s event.

It is through your support that we are able to produce such an event for the Chandler community. The Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival featured national music entertainment including The Band Perry, Uncle Kraker, Walker Hayes, Flo Rida, The Spazmatics, The Beach Boys, Nelly, The Four Tops, and The Temptations. It broke previous attendance records and we can’t wait to continue this success for years to come!

On April 27 is the Chandler Chamber of Commerce’s 110th Anniversary! 110 years ago, even before the City of Chandler was incorporated, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce was advocating for modern roads, utilities, and workforce all with business and community in mind. Today, the Chandler Chamber continues to be at the forefront of innovation, technology, and diversity, leading Chandler’s business community to a wondrous tomorrow. ow! What an amazing month of March with the Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival in the books. After two years with no event, this will go down as one of the top events ever for us.

To our staff, Terri, Molly, Lauren, Barbara, Ashley, and DJ, great job! The number of hours they put in and the ability to keep the office running is amazing. To the Ostrich Festival Committee, Ralph, Michael, Delaney, Sally, Jerry, Angie, Robert, and Kathleen, thanks for leading this amazing event. To Hermalinda and all the staff from the city who assisted and facilitated this, thank you. To Chief Duggan, Mike Collins, and all the amazing men and women of our Chandler Police Department, thanks for keeping our event a safe one. To Chief Dwiggins and his incredible team, thanks for keeping people taken care of and safe. To all the hundreds of volunteers, a massive thank

you because we couldn’t do this without you. To our promoter Steve LeVine with SLE, thanks for bringing us an awesome lineup of talent.

As we look toward the future, we have a lot of great education and other events coming up over the next few months. One of the events will be our community awards which is always a fun event. Check out our website or our newsletters for this and other events, and come join us.

The Chandler Chamber has always been a leader in public policy, and Terri and Ashley are monitoring many bills that are being worked through the legislative process. We also will have a candidate forum for our City Council and Mayoral candidates. This is scheduled for May 3 and will be held in the City Council Chambers.

We are a very active Chamber and I encourage you to come out and be a bigger part of the Chamber!

CHAMBER NON-PROFITSPOTLIGHT Chandler Young Life Connecting Youth Chandler Young Life is a non-profit faith-based Christian organization working with middle school and high school students in the Chandler community. Our volunteer leaders and staff provide fun, adventurous, life-changing, and skill building experiences. We place a high priority to help students process and make important decisions as it relates to their personal relationships, school, and future decisions. Our foundation is based on what we believe is most important in life – the truth about God and His love for us. FROM THE MAYOR Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke

Access to local higher education is a key part of Chandler’s economic vitality. Residents are building upon the great foundation provided through Chandler schools to obtain degrees,

certifications and training through higher education and vocational programs. As a result, Chandler residents are positioned to fill important roles within many local industries and companies.

With that background, I’m excited to share news of one program growing in Chandler. The University of Arizona’s presence in Downtown Chandler now marks 10 years. Their regional location offers access to degree programs in business, education, law, science and technology, which align with Chandler’s many science and technology-based industries and needs for professional talent in

business, education and law.

The University of Arizona aims to serve more students by expanding in the coming year to a larger downtown space at The Jonathan, 55 N. Arizona Place. The University of Arizona also will expand promotion of its programs to Chandler residents and participate in the annual Chandler Innovation Fair to introduce students to its locally offered, science and technology-based programs. I congratulate the University of Arizona on their expansion that will support our residents’ higher educational pursuits.

Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Barbara has been recognized nationally year after year as one of the top ten business development professionals in the nation through the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. In 2020, Barbara was promoted to Director of Business Development and Services. She has worked diligently to create a top notch business development team at the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.

Conversations on Criminal Justice is an event bringing together Arizona’s most influential leaders and legislators working in the criminal justice space. to establish their own ordinances protecting their LGBTQ+ residents. The Chamber continues to advocate for the establishment of a Non-Discrimination Ordinance in Chandler which is the only major city in the Valley to hold off on the adoption of an ordinance.

Arizonans are first in the nation to add driver licenses to Apple Wallet ADOT MVD gives Arizona residents ability to add IDs to Apple Wallet and present their identity at TSA airport security checkpoints.

The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division embraces the motto, “Out of the line and safely on the road.” This is a nod to MVD’s commitment to putting Arizonans first by reducing in-office wait times and offering customers a growing number of digital options.

Today, ADOT MVD is aiming higher 16

– literally – and that motto could easily be revised to “out of the line and safely in the sky.”

That’s because Arizona is the first state in the nation whose residents can add their MVD-issued driver license or state ID card to Apple Wallet on an iPhone or Apple Watch and securely present it as a valid ID at select TSA airport security checkpoints at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

At this time, an Arizona driver license or state ID in Apple

Wallet can be used to present a resident’s ID only at select TSA airport security checkpoints. This is a new technology and its use case will grow over time. Arizona residents should continue to carry their physical, plastic driver license or state ID card to use in other situations, including with law enforcement. Read more here

Previously the Branch Manager, Ben led the Phoenix branch in loan and deposit growth and has taken an active role in mentoring new lenders and lending staff.

Ben Danner joined First International Bank & Trust in February 2019 but has spent more than 40 years in the banking industry. He has worked in many areas of banking, but the bulk of his career has been in Commercial Lending and leading teams of lenders. Ben is active in the Phoenix community and has been particularly involved with youth sports and the Arizona Special Olympics. A 30+ year Chandler resident, Jana has spent most of her career in Financial Services. As a Senior Advisor and Certified Financial Planner at Juncture Wealth Strategies, she and her team offer financial planning, investment management, legacy planning, tax planning, and retirement planning to families, professionals, and business owners. Jana enjoys mentoring and is also the Co-Chair of the Chandler Chamber Women in Leadership committee. She is an Ohio native, where she graduated from Miami University and later received a Certificate in Executive Financial Planning from The Ohio State University. She is a sports fan and loves spending time outdoors with family and friends.
