Registered Apprenticeship programs provide unique opportunities to customize work-based training to meet your needs, using one of the following options: • Time-Based: Complete a number of hours of on-the-job-training learning and related instruction, 144+ additional hours of related instruction recommended. • Competency-Based: Apprentices progress at their own pace and demonstrate competency through skills and knowledge Complete a number of hours of on-the-job-training learning and related instruction, 144+ additional hours of related instruction recommended. • Hybrid: Through this time-based and competency-based model, apprentices have a minimum and maximum range of hours.

Consider your organization’s overall goals, then choose one of the program models that are best for you: • Pre-Apprenticeship to Registered Apprenticeship: Pre-apprenticeships prepare youth or adult workers with the basic skills training and foundational skills that allow them to succeed in a registered apprenticeship program. • Traditional Apprenticeship: Apprentices receive related technical instruction and on-the-job learning concurrently throughout the program. • Front-Loaded Apprenticeship: Apprentices complete some or all of the related instruction before on-the-job learning with an employer or partner. • Segmented Apprenticeship: Apprentices alternate between related instruction and on-the-job learning until competency is reached.

As a state, we’ve invested more than $33 million in expanding apprenticeships through: • CAPE: Additional funding may be available through the Florida Career and Professional Education Act. See if you are eligible here. • Grants: Utilize state grants such as the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grants and Apprenticeship State Expansion Mini-Grants.
