Alumni Notes Bruce Conlin ’55 is now in his 25th year as a volunteer in the fight against AIDS. For eight years he has been a hospital visitor, support group moderator, member, secretary and vice chairman of the PBC HIV Council, as well as a testing counselor for Compass. Edmond J. Mohring ’57 and his wife Marilyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2012. Twenty family members joined them in Orlando, FL, at the Disney and Universal Theme Parks. Michael Beck ’60 gave a poster presentation at the 23rd Annual IACAPAP Conference in Paris, France, in July, 2012. The topic was ADHD Anger. Ernest T. Bartol ’63 was installed as President of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of the NY Chapter, on October 1, 2012, for a one-year term. He is the managing parter of Murphy, Bartol & O’Brien, LLP, a general practice law firm specializing in commercial litigation, estate, wills and trust planning and litigation, located in Mineola, NY. Francis Doherty ’63 retired on November 18, 2012, as a senior flight instruction and check captain, based in Seoul, Korea, since 2006. He began flying in 1967. After graduating from the Univesity of San Francisco, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army, attended flight school and served as a reconnaissance pilot in Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 23 Air Medals, two Bronze Stars and two Army Commendation Medals. Before leaving the Army he obtained an MS in psychology from

Troy State University. He resigned from the military as a captain in 1972 and started flying for Western Airlines, which merged into Delta Airlines in 1986. In 2001 he transferred to JFK as a senior international captain. He retired from Delta on December 1, 2004, and was hired by JetBlue, instructing for 16 months before going to work in Seoul. He lives in W. Norwalk, CT, with his wife Catherine Grace. William Murphy ’71 was promoted to the rank of deputy inspector and is assigned as the commanding officer of the Suffolk County Police Academy in Brentwood, NY. Glen Smith ’72 has written and performed A Visit with St. Paul for churches, schools and conferences in five states and twice on mission to China. For more information, visit www.visitwithstpaul.com Sergio Segarra ’76 is vice-chief of Emergency Medicine at Baptist Hospital in Miami, FL. He and his wife Kimberly reside in Naples, FL. Christopher Keating ’78 is the Capitol Bureau Chief of The Hartford Courant. Joseph Pennino ’79 joined Paragon Solutions as the Director of Financial Services and Insurance Sales in April. Paragon is an advisory consulting and systems integration firm that specializes in enterprise information management to help clients achieve business results. John Marks ’80 joined NetApp as a Senior Finance Manager for the Northeast Region in July, 2012. NetApp is a leading vendor

of innovative storage and data management technology solutions. John is based in New York City, and the company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA. Brian Falvey ’83, an environmental engineer, is working in the petroleum bulk storage unit for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in New York City. Joseph Castrigno ’86 has relocated to Tampa, FL. He is working as a Software Release Engineer for Wellcare Health Plans. Peter Monteferrante ’88 completed the Ironman challenge in Lake Placid, NY, in July, 2012. Robert T. Miller ’88 is a professor of law and the F. Arnold Daum Fellow in Corporate Law at the University of Iowa College of Law. His published works and working papers are accessible at http://ssrn.com/author=518229. Douglas Egbert ’89 was recently promoted within the New York State Department of Transportation to Regional Local Programs Construction Monitor. He acts as oversight on behalf of the Federal Highway Administration in tracking construction projects throughout the Long Island region that receive federal funding from the design phase to project completion. Christopher Lawson ’96 is an interventional cardiologist at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH. Frank McCaughey ’98 is teaching ninthgrade history and is the history department
