On August 31st, a 3 days training were conducted by AL_Mesalla case managers with support of UNFPA, for developing capacity of social workers, case management and space managers of AL_Mesalla and other local partners of UNFPA ( Zhyan, Islamic relief, GiSO and Warvin), about GBV core concepts and GBV case management, the training took place in Erbil with participation of 27 social workers and space managers. Various method were used in teaching such as brain storming, role plying, group discussion, participants reaction was very positive their opinion enriched the training. On the first day training was about GBV core concept, were the trainer viewed participants perspective about sex and gender and what make women to face more violence is that related to the biological differences or the gender differences and what community has defined as role of men and women and how it’s possible to change the idea and perspective of community, and then types of GBV, causes and results of violence were explained with many different scenarios and case studies.


During second and third day of the training, main principle of case management(respect, confidentiality, security) were explained in detail, how the social worker can be part of problem solving and how some time unintentionally she may become part of the problem, social workers were trained on how to store case form in confidential manner.

After that all 6 steps of case management was explained with role play of participants in each steps, comments and question of participants were answered


and explained the miss concepts about case management, participants were taught how to make the safety plan with the case and how to keep the client at center of all the work and including the case in decision making and action planning process, and then practical implementation of the action plan, and process of fallow up including fallow-up after referral and fallow-up for the case after implementing the action plan, and then participants were taught how to close a case and when to close is, they were introduced to case closure format, and how long the case form should be stored.

Great input and comments were made by participants, the pre and post tease indicate the high level of participants benefiting from the training in the end of the third day certification of participation were given to all participants.
