Dear Friends,

What is community, and what role does it play in our lives? How we answer this – for ourselves and for our children – defines the type of life we want to live and the kind of world we want to live in.

A community brings people together and encourages relationships in which people join and share in common needs. It is a place of connectivity – to our families, to one another, to our heritage, to our inner selves.

Like a family, a community is there for every single individual without differentiation, caring and providing for their physical, social, educational, and spiritual needs.

Since its launch in 1998, the Chabad Jewish Center has unceasingly strived to be such a place: “A Home for Every Jew” where everyone is warmly and lovingly welcomed. It’s a place that provides opportunities to connect, experience, belong, grow, and find meaning. Here, we can be ourselves and everyone is accepted regardless of beliefs, spiritual inclination, knowledge or observance, finances or affiliation. A place where everyone is at home.

With passion and determination, the Chabad Jewish Center has succeeded in inspiring and touching countless lives every single day. Notably, this success has come despite the tremendous challenge of having no fixed facility to serve as a 24/7 community hub and house our programs. The Jewish Center started out in our home, before moving on to hotel, industrial space, and camp site rentals. Using creative methods for finding space and maximizing facilities, a full host of programs have successfully served hundreds of people. But we’re full beyond capacity, the current facilities have reached their limit, and the time has come to fill the need for a proper community space.

Please join us as we build a space that will comfortably house all of our existing programs and services under one roof, and also allow for the growth and diversification of programs that our community demands. The new CJC will enable us to continue in the spirit of providing the connectivity that binds us with each other, our shared history, and our common destiny. We look forward to building it together.

EDUCATION

Our children are the guarantors

of our future as a people.

Just as in every family, a primary focus of the CJC community’s time and resources

are invested in our children. In addition to giving our children

an eternal gift that connects them to the heritage of their grandparents,

our children’s programs will help their body grow strong with an indoor

gymnasium and outside athletic fields, nurture their soul and teach

IMPACT! Since its inception, the Chabad Jewish Center of Martin and S. Lucie has been an open, inviting, community-based, independently funded organization with no membership or any mandatory fees or any preconditions to participate.

This “Home for Every Jew” is an environment that provides opportunities to connect, experience, belong, grow and find meaning, regardless of beliefs, spiritual inclination, knowledge or observance, finances or affiliation.

Through out the years Rabbi Shlomo and Daniella Uminer maximized resources and space.

Generous community members stepped up along the way, giving with extraordinary generosity so the community could be served and every Jew could have a home. The community and its programs have grown to such an extent that community participation is no longer able to be accommodated adequately, making the need for a new center crucial for the present and future.

As we embark with G-d’s help on this exciting next chapter for our community, we invite you to partner with us to make this dream come true, and help us strengthen the Jewish community in Martin and S. Lucie counties.
