SCORING HUGE WINS Eckrich and its Smithfield Foods parent company hosted the Eckrich Million Dollar Challenge during the Allstate Championship Tailgate, just hours before the national championship game. The football throw challenge gives fans the opportunity to collectively win up to $1 million if they hit the target just 20 yards away. In the months leading up to championship weekend, the sausage and deli meat maker upped the ante, offering another $1 million to the CFP Foundation and its Extra Yard for Teachers platform if ESPN analyst, and former college quarterback, Kirk Herbstreit nailed the target, too. Herbstreit scored a huge win for teachers on his second attempt and Eckrich donated $500,000 to the CFP Foundation to support its Extra Yard for Teachers platform.
