You’re in for a real treat! Thank you for joining countless others hosting an at home “watch party” of this year’s Dancing with Mississauga Stars “NO-GALA” event. Whether you’re with a small group in your sparkly best, or relaxing in more casual attire, we know you will be sure to enjoy the line up of entertainment and special guests in store for you this evening!

When it comes to celebration, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Tonight’s DWMS 2020 NO-GALA Production, and the Community Foundation of Mississauga’s first-ever virtual Gala, is proof that a pandemic is not going to stop a party. Especially one for a good cause.

We pay tribute to this year’s Event Sponsors, Event Partners, and our Corporate Partners who are integral to our success. As well, it is an honour and a privilege to have such a wonderful group of volunteers and staff who worked so hard to make tonight’s Virtual Gala a success. It is through their shared support and dedication that we advance our vision of building a strong and vital community that has the resources it needs to ensure quality of life for everyone.

Dancing with Mississauga Stars is our cornerstone event,

and supports the work of the Community Foundation of Mississauga. This year all funds raised will contribute to our Annual Impact Fund and the Mississauga Emergency Relief Fund (MERF), established in April 2020. Our role as a key grant maker has never been more important. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted charities as they continue to provide essential programs and services for our community’s most vulnerable citizens, and our focus has been to support our community when they need it the most. We are grateful and pleased to share this evening, the efforts and financial support of many, making a difference in this year of crisis.

Jake Dheer is Senior Manager with OMNI Television at Rogers Media Inc. Jake has been honoured with numerous awards and recognition in the broadcast industry and for his volunteer community engagement and humanitarian work including being named Mississauga’s 2005 Citizen Of The Year. In 2013, he was named one of Mississauga’s Top 30 Most Influential people by Mississauga News. Jake was recently recognised by The Senate of Canada with The Senate Sesquicentennial Medal for outstanding service to Canada and in 2017 he was listed in the transformation Canada’s coffee-table book as one of 150 Extraordinary Canadians as visionaries who inspire the next generation.

Jake’s enthusiastic stage presence has led him to emcee several high profile functions in the GTA and he has often been asked to be the Keynote Speaker at numerous events around the region. Jake has been a Judge at the Dancing with Mississauga Stars Event for the past several years and we are most pleased to have him join us this year as Co-Emcee.

Jake is married to Geeta and they have two children, Sonia and Arjun.

Lisa is president of the Toronto Area for Arthur Murray Franchised Dance Studios, owning and operating some of the most successful schools in the country. She is a former American Smooth competitor and a certified examiner for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. She is also co-organizer of the CanAm Dancesport Gala, one of the most prestigious Ballroom Dance competitions in Canada.
