Where neighbors create legacies

LET’S TALK We can get more done together than we can do alone. That’s why The Community Foundation works to be more than just a funder in Muncie and Delaware County. We are a convener, an advisor, a connector, and a collaborator. We work with donors to help them meet their charitable goals. We work with organizations to help them find the resources they need to meet their missions. We work with the community to understand big goals and move the needle through our grantmaking on issues that enhance the quality of life across Delaware County. In this issue of Legacy, we share several stories of partnership. Read about the partnership between YMCA of Muncie and Ball State University to create a one-of-a-kind learning environment for preschoolers. Learn about an organization who calls Muncie home for just one week a year but is actively working with local organizations to extend their reach in the community. Find out how The Community Foundation can bring administrative and investment expertise to a partnership for funds like scholarships and other endowments. In this issue we also celebrate scholarship recipients, award winners, and some positive investment news. We are glad you are our partner as we invest in our community today, tomorrow, and always.

YMCA AND BSU COLLABORATION LEADS TO ONE OF A KIND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Preschoolers learn while playing at the Mitchell Early Childhood and Family Center.

he YMCA of Muncie and Ball State University have partnered to T provide a one of a kind opportunity in early childhood education. The newly reimagined Mitchell Early Childhood and Family Center will provide

care and education for the youngest citizens in our community. Through this unique partnership, the reinvigorated facility, a former abandoned elementary school, has received a facelift, new equipment made possible through Foundation support, and the chance to once again be an asset. Mitchell will provide care to almost 200 children while expanding academic and research opportunities for Ball State teachers and teachers - in - training. Using a Reggio inspired style of teaching and learning, a classroom equipped with items to motivate STEM activities and self - led learning allows the children served to learn, grow and thrive.
