A community of professional advisors helping clients realize their charitable giving goals
YOU ARE INVITED
You are invited to join the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro’s (CFGG) Professional Advisors Network, a collection of expert professional advisors who are partnering with us to provide insight and advice on how to help philanthropists make an impact in Greensboro.
The Network’s members are asked to stay informed about CFGG initiatives and to share information that will assist their peers in effectively identifying and carrying out their clients’ charitable planning needs.
There is no cost associated with this membership.

• Provided with a philanthropic advisors’ toolkit to use in conversations with their clients;

The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro was founded in 1983 and shapes the landscape, culture, and economic health of our community. Our goal is to help donors make a difference in ways that matter to them. We make it easy and meaningful to give back to Greensboro.
Each of our 723 funds has a donor behind it with a story that informs how we distribute every grant into the community.
$330 MILLION IN ASSETS
At CFGG, we manage $330 million in assets and we live by the phrase Donor Intent.
Donors may choose to create their own fund or give to an existing one. Regardless, we help donors create impactful gifts that make a difference.
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Professional Advisors partner with CFGG to strengthen client relationships and education about charitable giving opportunities. CFGG serves as a specialist in philanthropic guidance by keeping your clients’ financial, personal, business and philanthropic objectives in mind.
Advisors are welcome to work with us behind the scenes or in any capacity that helps you best deliver true value and expertise to those you serve.
Professional Advisors Network members learn more about CFGG’s vehicles for giving back to Greensboro which range from Community Endowments and Nonprofit Endowments to Donor Advised Funds and Legacy Giving.
Community Endowments provide permanent annual funding to address the evolving needs of Greensboro. Donors choose for their fund to be used wherever the need is greatest—within a general field of interest (like education or workforce development) or for a specific cause like affordable housing for seniors.
Donor Advised Funds make philanthropy simple and provide significant tax benefits. Donors get an immediate tax benefit and they can then make grants as they like to the charities they care about at their own pace.
Nonprofit Endowments ensure permanent annual funding for a specific nonprofit, either for general operating expenses or a certain purpose or program. These can be set up by a donor or a nonprofit organization.
Legacy Gifts to the Community Foundation can be made to support the organizations and causes that are important to a donor in their lifetime.
CFGG accepts a variety of assets as charitable contributions including: cash, securities, bequests, beneficiary designation, life insurance, retirement plan assets, IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions, Real Estate, and Personal property
The IRA Charitable Rollover provision allows individuals who have reached age 70 ½ to donate up to $108,000 per taxpayer a year to charitable orgs directly from their IRAs without treating the distribution as taxable income. Gifts from IRAs can be given to many of the funds at CFGG including our endowment funds, scholarships, organizational endowments and field of interest funds.

DIRECT ASSET MANAGER PORTFOLIOS
These represent a pool(s) of charitable assets managed by local investment advisors in order to enhance client relationships and facilitate charitable giving to the Community Foundation. The minimum balance for a Direct Asset Manager portfolio is $500,000, and total fees are typically comparable to the Community Foundation’s Main Pool. Direct Asset Manager accounts may not confer any financial benefit to the donor or related party. The CFGG Investment Committee maintains fiduciary responsibilities for the approval of these Manager relationships, along with the oversight of asset allocation and adherence to approved investment policies.
The Professional Advisors Network is led and supported by the Professional Advisors Committee, a Standing Committee of the CFGG Board. The Professional Advisors Committee’s mission is to encourage more charitable giving by individuals, families and organizations to the causes most important to them and to heighten awareness of the benefits of giving through CFGG within the professional community of advisors.
