CFAW consist of 2,000+ local financial professionals, united in the shared pursuit of professional excellence for investment management.
Founded in 1953 as the Washington Society of Investment Analysts, today’s society consists of over 2,000 financial professionals in a variety of positions including portfolio managers, analysts, trust officers, and consultants, as well as pension, endowment and foundation fund executives.
Reflecting the diverse nature of the investment professions in the Washington, DC area, members are employed by major corporations, associations, unions, national, state and local government agencies, financial regulators, academic institutions, investment managers, insurance companies, broker/dealers and consulting groups, among others.
CFAW links its members with each other, those interested in joining the profession, and the community through many activities including professional development and networking events.
In the diverse and growing Washington investment community, the society plays a vital role — from advocating the highest ethical practices to promoting career opportunities for members.

The ultimate volunteer commitment is serving on CFAW’s Board of Directors. Board elections are held annually and all Regular members in good standing are encouraged to apply. Most Board terms are two years in length.

As part of CFAW’s continual effort to bring members the latest news, trends, and innovations in investment management, CFAW hosts an education series focused on the latest innovation in investment management.
