1. ACADEMIC PROJECT

BACK WATER

NTNU, Spring 2017

Orkdal, Norway

DOCK

A four-week project with the intention of designing a simple timber structure in the bay of the Orkla river to be used by the residents of the area.

The building proposed serves as a lookout, rest area and dock for kayaks by using a floating bay. Adapting to the changing tides, seasons and activities.

1. ACADEMIC PROJECT

NOVEMBER HOUSE

NTNU, Autum 2016

Cokatoo island, Sidney, Australia

STUDENT RESIDENCY

Pavilion-residence for artists and craftspeoople on the ruins of an old prison. An attempt is made to create a space that allows the private residence, the workshop and the exhibition space to be combined.

A large linear corridor connects the different homes/studios as well as serving as a showcase and meeting point. Each dwelling is defined by the needs of the artist and is connected by a series of walkways over the central space.

1. ACADEMIC PROJECT

MALMÖN QUARRY

NTNU, Autumn 2016

Malmön, Suecia

LANDSCAPE INTERVENTION

Promenade around one of the most important quarries in Europe in the 19th century.

In a simple, cheap and ephemeral way, a scaffolding structure is generated that recalls the industrial past of the area. This steel snake climbs, crawls, crosses and frames the most unique points in the area. It leaves the rock as the main character on a journey through the industrial past of the Malmön Island.

TERMINAL LUXOR

ETSAM, Spring 2018

Luxor, Egypt

FABRICATION

CENTRE

Ephemeral center for the production of facsimiles and museum, based on the use of pneumatic structures.

The structures seeks to generate an efficient space, of simple construction that adapts to the conditions of the environment; but that at the same time allows two phases of use, one during the copying and production of the tombs, inflated, and another during their opening for the visit of the general public, sealed.

NEITHER ARCHITECTS,

NEITHER MASONS, NEITHER LATIN

ETSAM, Autumn 2018

RESEARCH PROJECT

Final Degree Project in Fundamentals of Architecture.

Research work comparing and analysing the development of two eco-village projects. One of them in the Swiss Alps, Vrin, and the other in the Merindades of Burgos, Valmayor.

The research is developed as a field notebook during several visits to both projects, participating in some of their interventions and collecting information through drawings and interviews.

1. ACADEMIC PROJECT

RENATURALIZATION OF SALOBREÑA´S VEGA

ETSAG, Primavera 2020 Granada, Spain

LAND MANAGEMENT

Final project for the Master of Architecture.

The project consists of a restructuring and protection plan for the Vega de Salobreña, promoting its agricultural and natural values. A series of renaturalization strips are proposed; agricultural fruit trees, agricultural vegetables, wetlands, coastal ecosystem, meadows of marine vegetation and artificial reefs. All consolidated through the renovation of the road and agricultural structure as well as a series of modular pavilions according to the needs of each point.

2. ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION

A TEMPLE FOR HILMA Combo Competitions

Autumn 2016 Stockholm, Sweden.

MUSEUM

The goal of this competition is to create a museum for the work of Hilma A. F. Klint, an artist and mystic whose paintings are among the earliest in abstract art.

The project aims to imitate the creative method, mind and inspirations of the artist. A journey through her psyche.

2. ARCHITECTURE

ABOUT A WALL.

Spring 2017

Tanaff, Senegal

MOSQUE

Design of a sustainable mosque in the punished Tanaff Valley.

A social and religious meeting point that helps revitalise the area both during the construction process and its use.

The “qibla”, sacred wall facing Meca, becomes the center of the project. A conversation about walls that close spaces but open the spirit, create privacy but help socialise.

2. ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION

IN MEMORIAM

Beti Jai

Spring 2018

Madrid

SPORT CENTRE

Design of a roof and services pavilion for the emblematic Beti Jai, a reference space for “Pelota vasca”, the traditional vasque sport.

The inspiration for the project is based on the Frontón Recoletos by the famous Spanish engineer, Eduardo Torroja.

A simple gesture of corrugated steel that flies over the space creating the necessary shelter from the sun and the rain. Touching the existing structure as lightly as possible, respecting its modernist past and adding a contemporary twist.

2. ARCHITECTURE

BLACK IS THE NEW ORANGE

Universidad Carlos III Spring 2018 Getafe, Madrid

RESEARCH CENTRE

Design of a building for research and teaching on biomedical sciences for the Getafe campus of the Carlos III University of Madrid.

The skin of the building opens and closes depending on the energy needs of the building. Like the scales of a fish the panels allow the light in, stops the solar gains and help ventilate.

2. ARCHITECTURE

COMPETITION

HAVEN HILL

EUROPAN 16

Summer 2021

Beizama, Vasque country.

SOCIAL HOUSING

Design of a series of house/ workshop spaces to attract young population to the isolated village of Beizama.

The intervention consists of two phases:

First, an urban intervention to connect and naturalise; and a second architectural intervention to generate productive housing.

This is achieved through terracing the plot, generating the necessary horizontality for the construction of the houses and at the same time generating a series of paths and spaces for public use.

EXHIBITION SPACE

Design and construction of the exhibition Industrial Obelisks by Brian Rosa for the MUHBA Oliva Artes.

CHANGE OBSERVATORY

NTNU, Spring 2017

Orkdal, Norway

VIEWPOINT/TOWER

Design and construction of a bird and tide observatory in the Orkdal estuary.

Prefabricated wooden construction in the NTNU workshop and assembled on site.

TIMBER PAVILIONS

Design, production and management of a series of timber pavilions for the Barcelona city council in the Mobile world congress 2023.

The different structures showcase the different ways industrialised timber can be used (Glulam, CLT, etc.) and improved using parametric techniques.

At the same time, these pavilions reference symbolic elements of the city of Barcelona like Montjuic ot the Besos Towers.

Mobile World Congress 23

Parametric reinterpretation of the Montjuic mountain in Barcelona .

All the pieces were produced with a CNC machine and then conected with metal plates.

3. BUILT WORK

Mobile World Congress 23 IAAC

The pavilion for 4Y4N tries to showcase the power of new technologies.

In this case the whole structure was built on site by a KUKA robotic arm that would select the wood pieces, cut them, drill them and assemble them.

The design solution is based on incorporating thin pieces, as well as several diverse typologies of joints and triangulations, implemented through digital computation. The fabrication is done with a robotic arm, allowing to automate the assembly process as well as reducing any manual workload.

Mobile World Congress 23 IAAC

The stage for Beat Barcelona imitates the coast line of the city of Barcelona with all its landmarks such as Montjuic, the marina, the beach front, the Ciutadella park and Besos.

Each of these spaces is recreated with a different pavilion creating a mini urban landscape for the attendees to relax and enjoy what Barcelona has to offer.
