“Lift Every Voice and Sing”
Lift every voice and sing Till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty; Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith That the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope That the present has brought us, Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod, Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come over a way
That with tears have been watered, We have come, treading our path Through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou who has brought us thus far on the way; Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, Our God, where we met Thee; Lest, our hearts drunk
With the wine of the world, we forget Thee; Shadowed beneath Thy hand, May we forever stand.
True to our GOD, True to our native land.

Dear FSU Alumni & Friends:
I am honored to bring greetings on behalf of Fayetteville State University to the distinguished alumni and guests gathered this evening to celebrate the Sampson County Alumni Chapter of Fayetteville State University, June 14, 2025.
What a privilege it is to acknowledge this Chapter for its extraordinary fundraising efforts that provide meaningful scholarships to FSU students. This single act of giving has been the hallmark of this institution and is the very reason why we call ourselves a family. Each day, alumni like you reach back and pay it forward. Your generosity not only builds upon our rich tradition, but it also literally gives life to our students as they navigate their academic journey
Dr. Coretta Scott King once wrote, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” As we navigate these challenging times in higher education, I am even more inspired by our students, who despite difficulties, demonstrate how determined they are to achieve their goals. With supporters like the Sampson County alumni, I have no doubt that our students will succeed.
This event allows the Bronco family to mark time and celebrate. I continue to be in awe of your contributions to FSU and want you to know that it is your acts of kindness and support that make me even more proud and honored to serve as the 12th Chancellor of Fayetteville State University. You have left a significant mark on this university’s legacy and for that I humbly say thank you.
While I cannot be there in person, I am with you in spirit. I pray that we continue to demonstrate our university’s motto: Res Non Verba. Deeds not words. Enjoy your celebration.
Bronco Pride,
Darrell T. Allison, J.D. Chancellor

Dear Chapter Members, Supporters, and Friends,
Tonight, as we gather under the stars to celebrate our Inaugural Gala, I want to pause and say Congratulations.
What we are witnessing tonight is more than just an elegant evening. It is the result of unwavering faithfulness, steadfast commitment, and a deep loyalty to the mission and vision of the Fayetteville State University National Alumni Association (FSUNAA) and this local chapter.
Reorganizing the Sampson County Alumni Chapter was not without its challenges. There were moments that tested our resolve, our resources, and our unity. But we did not waiver. We remained focused. We remained faithful. And tonight, we celebrate the fruit of that labor together.
To each of you who gave your time, your voice, your resources, and your heart thank you. Your belief in our mission and your dedication to preserving the Bronco legacy in Sampson County has made this evening possible.
Let this night be a reminder that with faith and unity, there is nothing we cannot achieve. I look forward to the future of our chapter and all that we will continue to build together.
With Bronco Pride and Gratitude,

In Loving Memory of James and Bettye Morrisey
FROM
Your children “HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER”
(which is the first commandment with a promise) Ephesians 6: 2
James and Bettye Morrisey, better known as “Pooter and Bett” have gone from labor to reward. We mourn your abscence from us, but rejoice in your presence with our Living Lord in eternity
You wished for four children. God blessed you with eight. We stand upon your shoulders because of the legacy you have left us. We did not have much materially, but the spiritual qualities you instilled in us continue to redound in glory to God.
A wise man stated, “God did not call us to be perfect parents, but to be faithful.”
We still remember the spankings (thank you), but much deeper in our hearts we recall the authority of God’s Word, the words of admonition, the prayers at the kitchen table.
Even more we remember the petitions in the midnight hours on bended knees, mingled with hot tears shed because of a love for us and countless others. These were rooted in Christ and born by the Holy Spirit into the presence of The Almighty.
So sleep on now and take your rest We love you dearly, but God loves you best We look forward with great anticipation to the day when we will rejoin you with all God’s children in eternal praise and adoration to the One who translated us from kingdom darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son!
HALLEJUAH FOREVER!
