Transform leadership to transform education ecosystems that transform the lives of all students
We are an independent, non-partisan, and global organization, dedicated to inspiring, training and supporting educational leaders in Brazil and in the Global South, as well as promoting applied research that subsidizes transparent and e cient decision-making processes, based on data, evidence and e ective solutions.
We were idealized by the Lemann Foundation and are inspired by the outstanding case of Sobral (Brazil), a city with low socioeconomic status which, from 2000 to 2004, went from 49% to 92% of students learning how to read and write at the right age and, since then, has been ranked 1st place in the national Basic Education Development Index.
We are part of a global network of Lemann Centers, the rst and only in the Global South!

‘‘From day 1 to day 6 each hour was crafted to perfection for a mind-heart-soul stirring impact bonding, with extraordinary care and hospitality. We have no words to match our thoughts as we fused in new entities within and across countries, as humans in search of humanity, sustained by the passion to learn and make ‘learning’ come together as the core of our ‘transformative reforms agenda’.’
Baela Jamil, CEO Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi, Pakistan
“(...) I will not land back in Nairobi before I say: It was all kindness, a conspiracy of kindness…
…Cheeky greeting from happy children, all kindness
Inspiration by the headteachers of Sobral, all kindness
Hammock swings at Lemann Centre, all kindness
Protocol-less session with reformist politicians, all kindness
Dancing our hearts out over dinner, all kindness
Receiving gifts and hugs in closed circle, all kindness
Bidding goodbye to newfound friends, all kindness (...)”

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM:
Brazil has over 188,000 school leaders spread across the country. Studies suggest that strong school leadership is critical for shaping productive learning environments and in uencing students outcomes.
That is why we promote large scale programs aimed at training leaders nationwide and strengthening their commitment and capacity to deliver education with quality and equity in their districts and schools.
Initial numbers: 3,000 educational leaders from 66 Brazilian municipalities trained since 2022
“I have already put into practice much of what I learned from the Program: working with transparency, trusting the management team, keeping the goals of the education network, engaging the school community.”
Vandete de Lima Neves, Brazilian principal
In our rst year of implementation, survey showed a 94% approval rate among participants!
Other results:
91% of participants identi ed a positive impact on their personal and professional development;
85% of participants noticed positive changes in their leadership practices;
93 municipalities expressed interest in participating in our second Edition.
APPLIED RESEARCH PROGRAM: Conducts cutting-edge studies that show evidence and o er e ective solutions to empower educational leaders and reduce educational inequalities in school systems.
Collaborations with 130 seniors researchers from 45 institutions in Brazil and abroad;
70 junior researchers engaged in training programs and supporting municipalities to collect and analyse their educational data.
By 2031, we aim at reaching 2/3 of Brazilian educational leaders and at creating and boosting means for Global South education leaders to connect, exchange knowledge and expand their individual and collective capacity to advance cross-sectoral coalitions and foster educational reforms in their countries.
Our goals are to:
Strength educational leadership in a sustainable way; Improve educational leaders’ practices; Promote real impact in educational outcomes with equity.
