As a federally funded institution, CWU abides by federal law, which classifies marijuana as an illegal substance. Marijuana may not be possessed on any property owned or controlled by CWU.

TWO CARS

Only two cars per student are allowed for move-in. We welcome additional family and friends, however with space so limited, they need to park in the parking lots away from the residence hall.

LABEL BOXES

Please label all boxes with name, residence hall, and room number to assist Movers and Shakers in delivering your personal belongings to your room (Friday move-in only).

No PETS

Please leave pets at home. All members of the family like to send off students at move-in, but with all of the foot traffic and activity, move-in day can be a dangerous place for dogs and other pets. The weather can also be prohibitively hot for leaving an animal in the car while moving in. Other than fish and documented service animals, pets are not allowed in the residence halls.

6

Arriving on campus Each residence hall has a scheduled move in time (see included map). Arriving outside of your schedule time could delay your move-in as traffic will not be routed towards your hall. Traffic is routed one-way through campus. Be sure to check the directions and map to your residence hall to ensure you can unload as close as possible. Please unload your personal belongings and remove your vehicle within 15 minutes of arriving at the residence hall. If you are planning to go to other places on campus, please move your car to a parking area away from the halls to allow others the same courtesy to move in.

7

RVs, moving trucks, and trailers are not permitted to drive up to the residence halls as there is not enough space to accommodate vehicles of this size. Students are allowed to drive up to the residence hall once. If you leave and go shopping, you will need to carry your things from the parking lot. Please do not drive on the grass unless it is designated as a space to do so. Parking on the lawn is permitted ONLY on opening day. Movers and Shakers for first-year student move-in will be available to assist in the move-in process only during the designated arrival time.

Shipping boxes and Packages

Students can ship boxes and packages ahead to CWU as long as packages arrive no sooner than the date of the student’s check-in. Students should check their CWU email for package delivery notice. Packages are available for pick up from September 11, 2017 through September 15, 2017 at the Residence Life Office between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm. Regular hours for package pick up begin September 18, 2017 from 2 pm to 8 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Package Pick-Up Door on the East side of the Residence Life Office.

Parking Parking permits are required to park your vehicle in campus parking lots. Free lots are located on the corners of 18th Ave and Wildcat Way/D Street, and 18th Ave and Alder. Lot X-12, located at Walnut and 18th Ave, is offered at a discounted parking rate. Many students elect not to have vehicles in this first year. For additional information and on-line applications, please look on the parking web site at www.cwu.edu/parking.

Dining

Dining Services, in conjunction with Wildcat Welcome Weekend for first year and running start students, will begin serving you with lunch on Friday, September 15, 2017. First year and Running Start students are required to participate in Wildcat Welcome Weekend activities as part of their academic requirements.

Classes will begin on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Dining dollars roll forward fall and winter quarters. However, at the end of spring quarter there are no dining dollar refunds. For more details and information, please look on the Dining Services web site at www.cwu.edu/dining.
