Third Sunday in Lent (Purple)

Prayer Focus: Central’s Youth Ministry

Welcome to worship at Central!

In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to worship at Central where it is our mission to follow Jesus by loving God and loving our neighbors. Our clergy, Rev. Thomas Smith, Rev. Dr. Ann Kovan, and Rev. Meg Jiunnies, are grateful you’ve chosen to make Central a part of your day today. If it is your first time worshiping with us, please visit the rear Greeters Table and fill out a Connect Card where you will receive a gift from the church. Once again, welcome!

Sermon Series: Who’s Who in Lent

Our current sermon series is called Who’s Who in Lent. Each week’s Gospel lesson invites us to ask ourselves what the Scripture teaches us and to consider what we can learn from asking about the “who” in each reading. Lent is a season of introspection, inviting us to take a spiritual inventory and prayerfully consider our faithfulness as disciples of Jesus.

Sermon Note

Our Lenten journey asks us to identify with a tree! Let’s read this passage by putting ourselves in the place of the tree. God supplies what we need to live a fruitful life that can mature and blossom into the fullness of love of God and neighbor. How are we growing?

Midweek Lenten Recital

This Wednesday, March 26 at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary, Central’s musicians will present reflective vocal and instrumental music for the Lenten season. Included is vocal music sung by Lacy Choral Scholars Sary Jackson, Ashlei Jones, and Dianna Wilson and organ and piano music offered by keyboardists Don Grice, Beverly Hazelwood, and Benjamin Woods. Join us for this contemplative program.

Connect & Refresh

(Offering one another signs of reconciliation and love within worship is an ancient Christian practice. This is a time to greet others, both familiar and new, whether in your seat, at a table, or while refilling your cup and plate. The countdown on the screen will alert you when it’s time to return to your seats for the next act of worship.)
