Get out and do something!” Her grandson, Steven Birmingham said she could be one of Central Penn’s oldest living alumni. On several occasions, Carrie said she would like to visit her alma mater at its present location. Steve took the next step and has arranged to bring her to campus. Todd A. Milano and a small group of faculty and staff gathered in the Museum to welcome Carrie back to Central Penn. She resides in Newport. Hulda (Coble) Kinsey ’38, Commercial, retired as Head Bookkeeper for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She wrote, “I was sent on an interview and was accepted for the job. I worked for the Union for 43 years. In the beginning I was the only one in the office, but as the years passed and the District grew, we had an office staff of seven. I became the Head Bookkeeper, and retired in 1981.” Hulda resides in Mechanicsburg. Sara Tritt ’38, Shorthand/Typing, retired from Nationwide Insurance. Sara wrote, “Both Hulda and I attended Central Penn when it was located above People’s Drug Store in Harrisburg. Through Central Penn I was employed by FARM Bureau, now known as Nationwide Insurance. I continued working there for 43 years.” Sara resides in Shiremanstown.

Ardella ‘Carrie’ (Hombach) Brubaker ’30

Ardella ‘Carrie’ (Hombach) Brubaker ’30, attended Central Penn when it was in downtown Harrisburg. Born in 1910, she graduated from Newport High School in 1928. This past July she was featured in a Patriot-News article that focused on Newport High’s opening day. Carrie offered this advice to today’s 22

Doris A. Mowrey ’38, Stenographic, worked in Washington, D.C. and Quantico, VA until she retired in 1971. She went to Central Penn when it was located on the second floor above People’s Drug Store in Harrisburg. Doris resides in Lemoyne. Martie Kunkel ’39, writes a column entitled Meet Your Friends and Neighbors for the Guide News. Her May 2, 2007 column was devoted to the success of Central Penn’s President

Emeritus Bart A. Milano. Before closing, Martie reflected on her own Central Penn days, “I was a student at Central Penn Business School when it was located on Market Street in Harrisburg. Even back then it seemed more like a college than a school. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and realize that the education I received there helped me with the rest of my years.” Martie resides in Mechanicsburg.

Helms F. Buchman ’71, Travel & Tourism, was promoted to Assistant Vice President for Columbia Bank & Trust Company in Hazelton. Previously he served as Community Office Manager at the bank. Helms continued his education at the Pennsylvania Bankers Association’s Central Atlantic Advanced School of Banking at Bucknell University. He and his wife, Marie, have two grown children: Anthony and Connie (Segedy) and three grandchildren. They reside in Drums. Kathleen M. (Felty) Clark ’75, Medical Secretarial, joined the Yahoo Group this past July and noted, “Things sure have changed. D’Amico ’76, Legal Secretarial, is a Firm Administrator for Mogel Speidel Bobb and Kershner. Margaret wrote, “The work ethic instilled in me at Central Penn remains with me today.” She continued her education and received a Bachelor in Accounting/ Finance degree from Alvernia College in 1991. She wrote, “After graduating I worked in the accounting field until I had my two children. Ben is 17 and Amy is 14. I went back to school for Travel and am very happy running my own business. Marie (Kerstetter) Cheatle ’85, Medical Assisting, is an RN in the Stroke Unit at McLeod Health Hospital. She graduated in December 2006 with an Associate in Nursing, and passed the State RN Boards on her first try in February 2007. “I contribute my success in passing to the good education foundation I had received over 20 years ago from Central Penn. It’s never too late to go back to school to further your education. I currently have three children: Michael,

Hillary A. Scott ’07, BSIT Multimedia/Internet Production, currently works in the E-Marketing Department of Harmon Media Group, which is a part of Dominion Homes Media within a division of Dominion Enterprises. She wrote, “I love what I am doing. It’s a lot of fun. I advertise/market/design emails to send out to our clients. Some would say I ‘spam’ people all day! When I was hired, my official title was E-Marketing Assistant, but three weeks after I joined the team, my boss left, so I really can’t be called an ‘assistant’ anymore. In the beginning of September, I was promoted to E-marketing Coordinator. Right now I am the entire E-Marketing Department! It is hard to believe that after being here for only six months, I am moving up through the company. It is all very exciting! And the GREAT thing is – I have my own office! I have been very successful since I left school, and I owe it partially to Central Penn for giving me the business mindset and the skills I needed to succeed.” Hillary’s father, Joe Scott, works in Continuing Ed at Central Penn. “I’m so proud of her.
