involved in three of his music ensembles. He expected the same level of commitment from me as he did from the music majors. He expected nothing less than 100 percent. As one of his students, I found his high expectations at times frustrating, but he taught me so much over the years. He believed in each of his students and wanted us to succeed. He took me from being an 18-yearold with a natural vocal talent to a refined and polished, confident performer. Although intense with his work, he also had a great sense of humor and cared about the wellbeing of his students. He was full of energy and had a passion for life – even evident in the last weeks of his life. A memorial service was held on Oct. 14 at Paul H. Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Dean of the Conservatory Dr. Ron Shroyer surprised Drummond during last year’s campus of Central Methodist Christmas concert with special recognition of his more than 25 years of conducting University.
