he Sayreville Borough Council has adopted a capital ordinance appropriating $750,000 for improvements to one of the borough’s water wells. On July 20, council members adopted the capital ordinance providing for the rehabilitation and/or replacement of a well located in the Duhernal Well Fields, the borough’s water system. The improvements will be made to Well BF, according to the ordinance. Through the ordinance, officials have appropriated $750,000 from the borough’s capital improvement fund to finance the costs of the project. In addition to the rehabilitation and/or replacement of the well, the appropriation will cover all work, materials and appurtenances necessary or incidental to complete the project. In other business, the council passed separate resolutions approving liquor licenses for the following businesses during the 2020-21 licensing term: Zinel & Nell, LLC (Covello Liquor & Bar); Mitthu, Inc. (South Pine Liquors); Tappan Liquors,

Old Bridge Police Department promotes two officers, welcomes four more By KATHY CHANG Staff Writer

wo police officers have moved up in rank and four new officers have joined the roster of the Old Bridge Police Department. Mayor Owen Henry recognized the officers at a Township Council meeting on Aug. 10. The new officers were sworn in on Aug. 6 with the mayor and Police Chief William Volkert.
Promoted Officers Bryan Doel was promoted to lieutenant. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was hired by the township in 1994 as a patrolman and worked his way to the Detective Bureau. Doel was promoted to sergeant in 2012 and served the department in many capacities. In 2019, he served as commander of the department’s Traffic and Safety Bureau. Timothy Snee was promoted to sergeant. He graduated from the Monmouth
County Police Academy and served as a corrections officer before coming to Old Bridge in 2005. Snee served the department in various capacities including range officer, field officer,and emergency communications officer. He is a member of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Operations Team and had been accepted into the FBI Division of Special Weapons Special Tactics School. In 2018, he was assigned to the Detective Bureau and was promoted to acting sergeant on April 1.
Both Doel and Snee have received numerous letters of appreciation from the public and have received many awards during their service.
New Officers Steven Hartman, 26, graduated from the Morris County Police Training Academy. He was honorably discharged after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2014-18. For his service he received the National
