To avoid additional charges or interruption in service, please return the Application for Service to our office within one week. You may prefer to fax the Application for Service to our office at 770-504-7877. You may also email a scanned, signed copy to csr@cgemc.com. We accept all major credit cards for fees and monthly billing charges, and this can be handled by calling 770-775-7857.

ALERTS & REMINDERS Central Georgia EMC can help you stay organized and informed when it comes to your electric account We offer customizable alerts and reminders that you can set up in moments. Get started by logging in to the Customer Portal and choose the Alerts tab. From there you are able to quickly customize the types of reminders you wish to receive.

Select Due Date Reminder from the alert menu and choose how far in advance you wish to be notified.

Choose the payment confirmation alert. A notification will be sent when your account payment has posted.

Alerts can help you save! Consider setting a High Energy Usage Alert. You determine the usage threshold and you will receive notification only when your electric usage exceeds that amount.

You can adjust your alerts or opt-out at any time.

Alerts and reminders can be sent by text message, email, voice, or for smart phones, push notifications. Alerts and reminders may also be set by using our Mobile App, or you may call customer service at 770-775-7857 for assistance.

How to Report an Outage

First, go to your main electrical panel to see if a breaker has tripped.

If the problem is not in your home’s wiring, contact our 24-hour Outage System at 770-775-7857 or report your outage on the Central Georgia EMC Mobile App or online at www.cgemc.com. You can also text OUTAGE to 352667 from the mobile phone number listed on your account.

When you call in to report the outage, you can hear an outage report to see if an outage has already been reported in your area. Our automated response system will return calls to members to confirm that their power has been restored.

Subscriptions are limited and handled on a first-come, firstserved basis.

ENERGY FROM BIOMASS As a member of Green Power EMC, Central Georgia EMC offers electricity generated from biomass, specifically methane gas reclaimed from the Taylor County landfill. The clean energy generated through this process is transmitted through the energy grid and is available to customer-owners in 150-kilowatt-hour blocks for $4.50 per month. Operation Round Up®

OPERATION

is a community support program designed to raise funds to support worthwhile charitable and educational needs within the 14 counties served by Central Georgia EMC.

ROUND UP

Our participants elect to have their monthly bill automatically “rounded up” to the nearest dollar. For example, if your bill is $64.35, you will pay $65.00, with the .65 cents going into the Operation Round Up fund.

The average contribution is about $6 per year, but this small change makes a big impact in your communities. The contributions are tax-deductible, and a summary of your gifts will be included in your December electric bill. Funds are not used for political purposes or electric bills.

Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation is a not-for-profit, customer-owned electric cooperative.

Central Georgia EMC was created and exists today to distribute electricity to the people in portions of fourteen Georgia counties. By paying a membership fee and receiving electric service from Central Georgia EMC, you become a customer-owner of this Cooperative.

The employees at Central Georgia EMC understand that we do more than sell you electricity. At CGEMC, we all work to provide you the electric power that helps to make your life comfortable, convenient, and secure. Our employees are focused on helping you get the most for your energy dollar.

The governing body of the Cooperative is the Board of Directors. The directors are elected at the Annual Meeting of Members and serve three-year terms.

Central Georgia EMC is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by you, our customerowners. As such, each dollar paid in excess of the cost of providing service is an investment.

The Board of Directors determines when these funds, known as capital credits, can be paid to customer-owners based on maintaining a sound financial condition and in accordance with the Code of Regulations and board policy.

Our mission is simple. Provide customer-owners the most reliable electric service at the lowest practicable cost.

Application for Membership & Electric Service I (we) hereby apply for Membership with Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (CGEMC) and for electric service according to the terms and conditions set forth and agree as follows: 1.

To comply with and be bound by the provisions of the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and such rules and regulations and policies as may be adopted from time to time by the Board of Directors of CGEMC; and when requested by CGEMC to execute and deliver easements or right of way in accordance with such reasonable terms and conditions as CGEMC shall require across my (our) property for the furnishing of electric service to my (our) premises or to provide service to other premises.

To indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CGEMC against all claims, demands, cost or expenses for losses, damages, or injuries to persons or property in any manner directly or indirectly arising from, connected with, or growing out of the transmission or use of electrical current at or on my (our) side of the meter, or arising solely by virtue of CGEMC providing electrical service to my (our) premises or arising from electric service to a manufactured or mobile home with the meter base mounted on the home. I (we) understand that CGEMC does not assume any responsibility for wiring beyond the meter or any responsibility for inspection of wiring beyond the meter.

All past due accounts which are deemed uncollectible will be turned over to Central Georgia EMC’s contract collection agency, court, or to Central Georgia EMC’s attorney for collection with full authority to make payment demands for the cooperative. All costs of collection will be added to the customer’s past due account and will be paid by the customer, including court costs, reasonable attorney fees, and a reasonable collection agency fee of 35% of the amount of the past due account for accounts that are turned over to a collection agency.

Prepaid metering agreement • Security Deposits and Late Fees: As a prepaid customer, the normal security deposit for a residential account is not required and you are not subject to normal residential account late fees. In the event that service is disconnected, all applicable collection and reconnection fees will apply.

• New Customers: New customers electing prepay metering will need to complete a membership application if an application is not currently on file. A membership fee of $5.00, an account establishment fee of $20.00, and a minimum of $50.00 for daily usage/monthly fees ($75.00 minimum total) are required for initial service. Prepaid accounts will be charged a $7.00 monthly prepaid service fee, as well as standard residential energy and monthly service charges.

• Existing Customers: When your account is converted to prepaid, your existing deposit (if applicable) is applied toward any outstanding balance with the remaining credit (if applicable) applied to your prepaid service. All fees and unbilled energy must be paid before an account can be converted from post paid to prepaid. Prepaid accounts will be charged a $7.00 monthly prepaid service fee, as well as standard residential energy and monthly service charges.

• Bill Viewing and Bill Calculation: Central Georgia EMC is providing a service so you can view your daily usage, receive notifications, make smaller payments as often as you would like or as your budget allows, and does not require a security deposit. The prepaid account will be calculated daily with daily adjustments of all charges and fees deducted from the prepaid credit balance. The account will be reconciled once per month.

• Billing: Prepaid accounts do not receive paper statements (bills). Daily prepaid account history (usage, charges and payments) will be available by phone, via the internet at www.cgemc.com, or the CGEMC mobile app . The website and app will also allow you to modify your notification settings. You are solely responsible for managing and updating the notification settings on your prepaid account(s). If your contact numbers and/or email address are not current, you will not receive notifications and service may be disconnected without further notice. It is strongly recommended that you maintain a pending disconnect notification on your account.

Prepaid customers who do not have access to the internet can retrieve their current balance, payment, and usage history by calling the toll free number 1-800-222-4877 or 770-775-7857.

• Payments: Payments can be made at the CGEMC office during working hours. Payments can be made 24 hours a day via credit card, debit card, or check through the IVR system at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877, online at www.cgemc.com, or using the CGEMC mobile app.

Agency awards will not be considered as payment and will not postpone the termination of service. It is the Customer’s responsibility to maintain a credit balance on their Prepay account until CGEMC receives the actual payment for the Award.

• Disconnection and Minimum Payments for Reconnection: A prepaid account will be subject to immediate disconnection any time your account does not have a credit balance including weekends, holidays or during severe weather conditions. A reconnect fee will be required each time your service is disconnected. In addition to the reconnect fee, prepaid accounts will be required to purchase a minimum of $30.00 prepaid electric service, as well as any unpaid balance, before service is reconnected.

• Returned Checks: Any returned checks or charge back fees will be charged to the customer’s account immediately. If this causes the credit balance to be exhausted, service will be disconnected within 24 hours.

• Payment Arrangements: Prepaid accounts are not eligible for payment arrangements.

• If an account is disconnected and does not become active after three (3) days, the account will be considered inactive and Central Georgia EMC will mail a final bill to the last known address on file.

• Termination of Service and Final Billing: Service terminated at the request of the customer will receive a refund of any remaining credit on the account after all final bill amounts have been calculated.

• Conversion to Post-paid Service: You may elect to convert your account to post-paid service at anytime. The Cooperative may require full payment of the deposit as a condition of continued service.
