DIRECTOR'S REMARKS Dear Friends, Partners, and Impact-Driven Leaders, As I reflect on this past year, it is with incredible pride in our center, our staff, our partners, our students, and our greater community that I see all we have accomplished together. Everything that we have done in the past year has been centered upon our mission: to educate, engage, and empower the Smith community and the world through thought-provoking dialogue, thought leadership, and hands-on experience. We took our mission to new heights this year, proving that the sky is the limit for CSVC. One of our focal points as a center this year was to create lasting impact with each of our programs and events. With that in mind, we expanded our Impact Consulting Fellowship to have 3 more iterations, giving more than 150 students the opportunity to grow their skills by providing pro-bono consulting work to impact-driven organizations. We launched the Research Impact Fellowship, in which 13 undergraduate students conducted research relating to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and ultimately were published in our first-ever Journal of Value Creation. We hosted industry experts who spoke to our students, numerous case competitions that gave our students real-world exposure, and partnered with various value creation oriented organizations to further our mission. This year we also held our inaugural ESG Conference. Bringing together 12 engaging speakers and over 100 impact-driven attendees, this conference gave a comprehensive view on several issues in ESG and urged the audience to think creatively for solutions. We are excited to host our second ESG Conference this December.
We would not have been able to accomplish what we have in this past year if it wasn't for our dedicated Board of Directors, Faculty Affiliates, and Staff. Each member of these teams contributes tremendously to our center, from event execution to classroom engagement and long-term planning. We also would not be where we are today if it was not for our generous donors. This year, we raised a record-high amount of money for our center during the year. On Giving Day 2022, we also had the second highest amount of individual donors within Maryland Smith. We thank each of our donors for their generosity, allowing us to continue our mission and put forth the initiatives outlined in this report. I am excited to see what this next year brings as we continue to grow. We look forward to expanding our presence in education and academics, publishing further research on value creation, and so much more. If you are interested in joining us, our door is always open.
