Mission and Vision

The Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston (CICMH) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit, volunteer run organization. Its unique mission is to spread the essence of Indian arts and culture, by presenting the many facets of the traditional artform of Indian Classical Music in its most holistic and purest form.

We believe that the inherent richness and underlying meditative values of this time-honored tradition make it one of the best avenues to attain physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing for every individual, irrespective of their background, lifestyle, occupation and nationality.

We aim to bring peace and harmony in the world by transcending all man-made barriers, promoting greater understanding and weaving together the peoples of this fast-changing world with the purity of seven musical notes of Indian Classical Music.

Community Outreach

CICMH has cultivated a musical ecosystem, enhancing diversity in the community through increased cultural, ethnic, and social understanding. Indian Classical Music helps people to connect with the rich culture and heritage of India. This enhances cultural understanding, and bolsters relationships in today’s diverse communities. The therapeutic properties of Indian Classical Raags, as described in various ancient texts, aid in reducing anxiety and depression, improving tolerance to pain and increasing overall wellbeing. This benefits society at large.

A unique online professional concert series conceptualized as a tribute to Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj Ji and to help the corona ravaged world find inner peace through Indian Classical Music.

Saadhana Sur Sang

A concert series featuring stalwarts and sought after exponents of Indian Classical Music

Sur Sannidhi

An interactive concert series featuring professional musicians in an intimate setting, harking back to the tradition of such events.

Sangeet Martand Smriti Samaroh

This online professional concert series was conceptualized and put together by Pandit Suman Ghosh Ji, a world-renowned Hindustani Classical Maestro and a torch-bearing disciple of the legendary Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj Ji as a humble tribute to his Guru. Through this initiative, that began in September 2020, we hope to aid a Corona-ravaged world in finding solace and inner relief through the purity of Indian Classical Music.

The Samaroh featured musicians who are stalwarts in Indian Classical Music and are celebrated exponents of the art.

With support from generous donors, we have been able to recompense these world-renowned artists featured in this series with due remuneration.
