Staff Report Commercial-News DANVILLE —Instructors from the Center for American Values, based out of Pueblo, Colo., are presenting a patriotic program in a mobile classroom setting throughout this week. Vermilion County students, after their classroom lessons, visited either the Vermilion County War Museum or the Fischer Theatre. The traveling classroom is set up in the parking lot between the Danville Public Library and the War Museum.

The Center’s focus is to develop good character and leadership skills in the next generation of emerging citizen leaders. Stephanie Huchel, who teaches eighth-grade history and current events at Westville Junior High School, is the education coordinator for the local group which is sponsoring the event. “We are committed to making this a memorable and inspirational time for the students of Danville and Vermilion County,” she said. “It’s part of the Center for American Values Honor, Integrity and Patriotism Education Outreach Program, which visits communities like ours all over America.” Huchel, an educator for two decades, said she comes from a “long line of teachers, soldiers, sailors and airmen.” She said she was excited when she became involved with this event through serving on the United Committee, which is presenting this event locally.
