Builders of the Universe Program 2009 International Model UN Summer Camp Conflict Resolution 101 In this class, campers are thought basic mediation skills. They learn how to resolve conflicts that occur in their relationships with their peers. Concepts such as animosity, dissent, anger, frustration, rage, disagreement, differences of opinion, yelling, personal attacks, vindictiveness are addressed. Campers also learn how to identify, address and deal with difficult or toxic personalities and when to call for outside help.
Effective Communication 101 Communication influences all factors of life and is a key component to achieving and maintaining peace. From daily interaction with strangers on the street to the way campers present themselves, the way they communicate is a reflection of who they are and the way they establish relationships with those around them. Although there are many sides of communications (including verbal interactions, nonverbal cues, and even using technology to maximize impact), there are a few basic fundamentals that span around the globe. By understanding the way others communicate, campers increase their probability for success with others.
