Beginningwiththegraduatingclassof2018,CelinaISDrequiresthatallstudentsenrollin thecoursesnecessarytocompletethecurriculumrequirementsoftheFoundationHigh SchoolProgram(FHSP)andthecurriculumrequirementsforatleastoneendorsement. Uponenteringthe9thgrade,astudentwillindicateinwritingtheendorsementthatthe studentintendstoearn Studentsshouldchoosecarefullyinordertoselectcoursesthatwill bechallenging,interestingtothem,andthatwillmeetgraduationrequirementsaswellas leadtoanendorsement.Thiswillprepareourstudentsforcollege,careersandthe workforce.

ThepurposeoftheTexasFirstEarlyHighSchoolCompletionProgram,inconjunctionwith theTexasFirstScholarshipProgram(TexasEducationCode,Chapter56,SubchapterK-1), istopromoteefficiencyinthestatepubliceducationsystemandincentivizethe enrollmentofhighperformingstudentsateligibleinstitutionswithinthestateofTexas.

Allstudentsingrades9,10,and11willbescheduledfortheequivalentofeightclassperiods perday.Seniorsingoodstandingmustenrollinatleast5classperiodsperday;however, theymustbeontrackandmusthavemetallothergraduationrequirementstobeeligible forearlyrelease.Seniorsenrolledinacooperativeworkprogram(CareerPrep),ifoffered, willbepermittedtoleaveschooloneclassperiodearlierforjobtraining.Updatedbasedon privilegeperiodsandmodifiedblock
Eachyear,studentswillreceiveacourseselectionsheet.Thissheetwillincludeinformation thatwillassiststudentsandparentsinsettingacademicgoals,selectingdesiredcourses, andprovidingalternatechoicesifthefirstchoiceisnotavailable.Courseselectionsshould bebasedonknowledgeofgraduationrequirementsandendorsements,studentinterests andabilities,anddesiredcollegeorcareerplans.Courseselectionsheetsareexpectedto besignedbybothparentandstudentandreturnedonorbeforethedaytheyaredue. Gradepointaveragesshallonlyincludethefirstfourcoursestakenineachofthefour corecourseareasingrades9–12.Thecalculationofgradepointaveragesshallexclude anymorethanfourcoursestakenineacharea.Whenastudentenrollsinthe4thand5th courseinacoresubject,anexclusionformnotingthecoursetobeexcludedmustbe signedandsubmittedpriortothefirstsixweeksofthesemester.
Thecalculationofclassrankshallexcludegradesearnedinanydistancelearning course,includingatraditionalcorrespondencecourse;summerschool,anyassigned remediationortutoringcourse,anylocalcreditcourse,andanycourseforwhicha pass/failgradeisassigned,orthroughcreditbyexamination,withorwithoutprior instruction.(BoardPolicy,EICLocal)
GPApointsareassignedtonumericalgradesattheendofeachsemester.Pointsare averagedtogether.Averagesarethenputintodescendingorder(highesttolowest)with thehighestGPAaveragebeingthetopintheclass.GPAiscumulativeandincludesall coursestakenwhileingrades9-12withtheexceptionoftheexclusionslistedabove.

Studentsareevaluatedforeligibilityeverythreeweeks.Ineligibilityisdeterminedat theendofthefirstsix-weekgradingperiodandattheendofeachnine-weekgrading periodthereafter.Studentscanregaineligibilityattheendofanysix-weekgrading period,butmustbepassingallcourses.
AllstudentsremainacademicallyeligibleduringThanksgivingbreak,winterbreak, andspringbreak.
