CITY UPDATES

CITY OF CELINA OFFICIALLY OPENS FIRE STATION #3

On Thursday, April 4, the City of Celina marked a significant milestone with the Grand Opening of Fire Station #3. Chief Mark Metdker extended a warm welcome to a distinguished gathering comprised of Federal, State, and County Representatives, City Officials, City of Celina leadership and staff members, and notable figures from HED Architectural Firm and Crossland Construction. Additionally, the presence of Fire Chiefs from surrounding cities added to the sense of camaraderie and shared commitment to Public Safety. Situated strategically on the western border of Celina, the inauguration of Fire Station #3 heralds a new era of enhanced emergency response capabilities for the community.

CELINA CAJUN FEST TICKETS NOW ON SALE

This past week, Crawfish Platter Tickets and Front Row Experience Tickets went on sale for our annual Celina Cajun Fest, which is scheduled for May 11 beginning at 2:00 PM on Celina’s historic Downtown Square. The Crawfish Platters includes 2.5 lbs of crawfish, corn, and potatoes and are on sale now for $20 per platter ($30 on the day of the event). The Front Row Experience includes a Crawfish Platter, one alcoholic voucher (must be 21 or older to use voucher), an exclusive viewing area for headliner Aaron Watson, and Celina Cajun Fest merchandise. FIRST CLEAN SWEEP ON THE YEAR SET FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 6

Clean Sweep is open for ALL Celina residents. Please bring a current water bill as proof of residency. The City’s Clean Sweep will be held at the Public Works Building located at 10165 County Road 106 in Celina. Please follow signage along the way to enter the facility. Upon entering, there will be a checkpoint to verify you are a Celina resident. Drivers will be directed to the relevant drop-off zone(s) based on the types of waste they want to dispose of. Drivers and passengers are asked to stay in their cars for safety reasons. Workers will be on-site at each station to unload items from vehicles. COMMUNITY GRAND OPENING FOR FIRE STATION #3 IS SATURDAY, APRIL 6

On Saturday, April 6, Fire Station #3 will host a Grand Opening from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM for residents to tour Celina’s newest Public Safety facility. Fire Station #3 is located at 4400 FM 1385 in Aubrey. There will be plenty of activities for the kids, including face painters, carriage rides, roping demos from legendary horseman Punk Carter, giveaways, and much more. In addition, a tradition push-in will begin at 11:00 AM where the community can help push the City’s newest Fire Truck into the facility bay.

RECAP OF DOWNTOWN COMMISSION MEETING

The Downtown Commission held its regular meeting on Thursday, April 4, in the Council Chambers Conference Room. Joe Monaco, Director of Marketing & Communications, presented on the Special Events Guidelines for Downtown Events to received feedback from the Commissioners on third-party event requests. Monaco is gathering feedback from several Boards before presenting findings to City Council in an upcoming meeting.

Kari White, Planning Manager, gave downtown development updates including on-going and new projects. While Anthony Satarino, Strategic Services Director, led a discussion on the function of Ty Behringer, Development Liaison, and the benefits he brings to downtown. Behringer serves current business owners and new developers in downtown helping them navigate city processes, answering questions, and serving as an overall partner though their investment in Downtown. Chair of the Commission, Jack Ousley, discussed the Grand Re-Opening of the Heritage Museum and encouraged the group to show their support and attend on Saturday, April 20. Satarino also discussed the hiring timeline for the Downtown Manager position. The job will be posted next week and the process, including onboarding, is expected to take up to three months.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATE BANQUET SET FOR APRIL 30

The City of Celina is proud to host its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday, April 30, at Two29 on the Square. This invite-only event is a special occasion to honor the remarkable dedication and service of a few of the many volunteers within our community, including the members of our Boards and Commissions. The evening will be a celebration of the selfless service that makes Celina the vibrant and caring community it is. Guests will enjoy dinner, a recognition ceremony, and the company of fellow residents who share a commitment to service. We extend our deepest gratitude to these individuals who embody the spirit of Life Connected. through their volunteerism.

NORTH COLLIN COUNTY NEIGHBORHOOD CONFERENCE SET FOR APRIL 20

This year’s North Collin County Neighborhood Conference is slated for Saturday, April 20, from 9:45 AM - 1:00 PM. The theme for this year’s conference is “Home Safe Home,” and this free event is an opportunity for residents all across north Collin County to come together and learn about neighborhood safety. Attendees will hear from a panel of local Police Chiefs as they discuss crime prevention strategies. In addition to the Police Chiefs’ panel, attendees will benefit from essential home safety tips to maintain healthy and thriving neighborhoods, code compliance tips, and ideas for hosting block parties to foster community bonds. This event is open to residents, HOAs, and neighborhood associations aiming to strengthen their communities.

ENGINEERING

Starting on Monday, April 15, Roseland Parkway will be closed from Hyde Way to County Road 92, and the closure is expected to last for three months. Please expect delays and seek an alternative route, if possible. Street closures can be found at https://arcg.is/5bfOa1
