CITY UPDATES

CELINA’S RESPONSE TO THE WINTER WEATHER: A TEAM EFFORT

As winter weather blankets North Texas, bringing with it eight inches of snow here in Celina, we extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated City staff who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents during these cold temperatures.

Our Public Works team has gone above and beyond, working 12-hour shifts to maintain safety and accessibility throughout the City. Whether applying brine and sand to our roads, blading snow and ice, or addressing challenges such as the water geyser that emerged in the new build area east of Pinto Creek toward the DNT and Frontier, their commitment has been unwavering. They have also proactively supported our first responders, clearing snow and ice around our Police Headquarters and Fire Stations using skid steers and applying brine to prevent hazardous conditions.

We sincerely thank these incredible individuals for their hard work and dedication. Their efforts exemplify the true spirit of community service and ensure Celina remains a safe and connected place to call home, even in the face of winter’s challenges.

WASTE CONNECTIONS SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS DUE TO WEATHER

Due to current road conditions and anticipated freezing temperatures expected to drop into the low 20s on Friday, Waste Connections has announced the suspension of operations for all areas north of Highway 380 for the remainder of the week. To accommodate this disruption, they will collect additional trash placed outside of bins during next Thursday and Friday’s scheduled routes for those impacted by the weather-related delays.

TOWER CRANE INSTALLATION FOR PARKING GARAGE CONSTRUCTION

Swinerton will begin erecting the tower crane for the Parking Garage project on Thursday, January 23. This marks an important step in the progress of the project. Ahead of the crane installation, there will be increased traffic activity around the job site starting Wednesday, January 22, as equipment and materials are delivered. The City is working closely with Swinerton to ensure safety and manage traffic flow during this time.
