Vicky Kaushal, born on May 16, 1988, in Mumbai, hails from a Punjabi Hindu Brahmin family. His father, Sham Kaushal, is a Bollywood action director, and his brother, Sunny, is also an actor. Despite earning an engineering degree, Vicky followed his passion for acting, starting as Anurag Kashyap's assistant before rising to Bollywood fame. He now lives in Juhu with his wife, Katrina Kaif.

Vicky Kaushal began his Bollywood journey assisting Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). After minor roles in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and Bombay Velvet, his breakthrough came with the lead role in Masaan (2015), earning acclaim at Cannes and global recognition. He later starred in Anurag Kashyap’s psychological thriller Raman Raghav 2.0.

Successful breakthrough
Vicky Kaushal’s breakthrough came in 2018 with Love Per Square Foot on Netflix, followed by acclaimed roles in Raazi, Sanju, and Manmarziyaan. In 2019, he won hearts with Uri: The Surgical Strike and delivered an awardwinning performance in Sardar Udham, solidifying his place as one of Bollywood’s finest actors.

For his role in Zubaan (2015), he worked with a speech therapist to accurately portray stammering, temporarily affecting his own speech. In Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016), he played a drug-addict cop, isolating himself and undergoing intense physical strain, including heavy smoking and dehydration.
Despite health challenges, his commitment earned the film recognition at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
