the quantity of courses related to the theme which are studied by the students during the development of theirs study careers. The formation of the architect as well as on a national as international level, has always contemplated the theme of the construction structures with different emphasis like something co-essential to the architectural proposal. Along the history, starting from what has happened in Europe, two formative tendencies are recognized: That one which comes from the Schools of Fine Arts and the other one incarnate in the Technical Universities. The architecture always in a certain way or another has grazed these two visions to approach the interpretation and the proposal of architectural work: the Art and the Technique. It depends on the origin and tradition of each School of Architecture work: the Art and the Technique. It depends on the origin and tradition of each School of Architecture in which way and how profound it faces the reaches and matters of techniques and technology. Our present plan of studies due to the objective of the profile of the graduate declares the following: “The architect graduate of the UTFSM, will build a new interdisciplinary dialogue linking in an indissoluble way the creativity and architectural innovation with the sciences of engineering and the management of the resources.

Since the start of the career in 1996 the study plan contains a line conformed by five courses of construction-structures, which are preceded by four courses of mathematics and two of physics. This is a fact not know in the Chilean Architecture Schools; there is no other study plan on the national level with such an extent of courses in these matters. This plan of studies causes the supposition that a key factor of differentiation of our graduates in the domestic market consists in the knowledge and management of the construction structures of an architectural project. Nevertheless the results obtained during the 10 years of existence of the career are not reflecting this intended differentiation. Therefore there are raising diverse questions regarding the methodology of teaching of these matters which without any doubt are indispensable to try to decipher.
