CHARACTERISTICS OF PLANTS.

1. Plants make their own food. 2. They usually have roots, stems and leaves. 3. They do not have senses. 4. They are usually green. 5. They can react 2.–

CLASSIFICATION OF PLANTS:

2.1.– Plants without flowers: like moss and fern.

2.2. Plants with flowers or seed plants: (grass, bushes, trees…).

Grasses are the smallest plants. Grasses have a green, thin, flexible stem.
Bushes are bigger than grasses. Bushes have a thin, woody stem, which divides into branches close to the ground.
Trees are the biggest plants. Trees have a thick, woody stem called trunk, with branches that grow high above the ground.
They can be evergreen or deciduous trees.
PLANTS are living beings with chlorophyll that can produce their own food and they can’t move from the soil.
The bonsai is a plant.

3.- PARTS OFAPLANT:

All plants with flowers have the same structure:
THE PARTS OF A PLANT are:

. Roots: absorb water and nutrients.
.
– Stem: gives support and it transports nutrients.
.
– Leaves: make food (photosynthesis).
. Flower: reproductive system of the plant.
3.1.– Roots: are under the ground and support the plant. They absorb water and minerals from the soil.

3.2. The stem: grows up from the soil and su pports the leaves. It carries water and minerals from the roots to the leaves.
3.3. The leaves: grow from the stem and branches and are usually green. Make food.
3.4. The flowers: are the reproductive organs of plants. They attract insects.

roots, stem, leaves or flowers:
It transports water and minerals to the leaves:
They take water and minerals from the ground:
They make food for the plant:
They can be many different colours:
Photosynthesis happens here:
They have got pollen:
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar.

1. Leaves absorb sunlight. 2. Leaves get carbon dioxide from the air. 3. Roots take waterand minerals from the soil. 4. Water and minerals travel from the roots to the leaves.
5. Plants make food with the sunlight, water and minerals. They release oxygeninto the air for us to breathe.
