“There’s never a need to worry that someone will outshine us. It’s not a competition. We all need to shine the brightest we can in our own unique way. It’s not possible for there to be too much light in this world. Shine… and let shine.”

Though its origin is unknown, I find this quote affirming and compelling. A recognition of the innate abilities in each of us and an intrinsic desire for attainment and expression. A testament to finding win-win solutions, rather than zero sum outcomes. A beacon formed by optimism that might inspire others to gleam as well.

Shine. This theme suggested by the auditorium marketing team engaged and guided me, leading me also to thoughts regarding mindfulness of presence. Keen awareness of the moment. Being truly present is to be both cognizant of and in tune with what is happening right now

Not tomorrow, not yesterday, not someday. Now. It is a time to shine. There has been too much darkness and isolation. It is time.

Embracing the opportunity to shine is a choice. A positive one. Choosing joy, showing grace, and letting your light shine just might be the spark to ignite the potential in someone else.

The arts are one way that who we are and who we can be are reflected. I hope that you will be able to be a part of upcoming performances throughout the 2022-2023 season and that you will be entertained and uplifted by the experience. Your presence has an impact on the artists, the audience, and the overall atmosphere of the event. You make a difference. This is your moment. May it shine.

“Let the darkest times reveal the brightest you!” ― Somya Kedia

“The shine of our souls, radiance of our smile and kindness in our hearts creates long lasting memories for everyone around us.” ― Purvi Raniga

Bluegrass royalty Leigh and Eric Gibson step into what some might at first see as uncharted territory on their country-soul breakout Mockingbird, the new album produced by Grammy Award winners Dan Auerbach and Fergie Ferguson. A mix of country, soul and seventies rock, the album further cements the sibling duo as musical trailblazers. As players and vocalists, they are superb; as songwriters they stand without peer, having long been a band awarded for their songs and songwriting.

The ‘Alt’ is a storied glen on the side of Knocknarea, and it was in the shadow of this glen in the little village of Coolaney that the three master Irish traditional musicians in The Alt—John Doyle, Nuala Kennedy, and Eamon O’Leary—first gathered to rehearse. Each player in The Alt is a leading light of today’s folk scene and though this could be easily called a supergroup, at its heart The Alt is really a celebration of friendship and song.

Now, whether live or on record, the band still radiates the energy of a ragtag crew of music students playing bluegrass on the street. Whether sharing lead vocals and instrumental solos or blending their voices into loose, joyous harmony, the members of Damn Tall Buildings blend elements of bluegrass, blues, roots-rock and vintage swing to create a captivating, high-energy sound.

The Queen’s Cartoonists perform music from cartoons! Pulling from over 100 years of animation, TQC’s performances are perfectly synchronized to the films projected on stage. The band matches the energy of the cartoons, leading the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-instrumental mayhem, and comedy. Projections of animated films dazzle the audience, while the band re-creates original soundtracks note-for-note, or writes their own fresh compositions to modern pieces, all the while breathing new life into two uniquely American forms of art: jazz and animation.

Since the beginning, Keith and Ezra have played shows for audiences of all ages in all sorts of venues. Trout’s broad appeal comes from their ability to connect with whoever is in the audience and their ability to create a full, rich sound that belies the fact that only two instruments are being played. It may be impossible to categorize what kind of music Trout plays, but after attending a show, you’ll know exactly what you’ve witnessed: two guys who still love what they do and are excited to share it with you.
