New for ISE 2020, the CEDIA® Cybersecurity Workshop provides an in-depth look at the concepts of network security and privacy. Taught by industry experts from around the world and designed for both residential and commercial integrators as well as manufacturers, the one-day workshop will take place on Monday 10th February at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam.

Park Technical College, Wisconsin. Jeff is currently a full-time faculty member and lead Instructor of the Computer Information Systems — Network Specialist programme. He is also the author of the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification “Security Fundamentals” Exam Review Kit: a series of review lessons that serve as a resource and guide for teachers and faculty.

In the age of the Internet of Things, residential networks and connected devices have greater potential to be exploited. In response, CEDIA’s Cybersecurity Workshop will deliver content to help integrators deal with the growing proliferation of threats in this space. The workshop will cover all aspects of network security and privacy, and how these concepts have evolved to be critical components of every system design, implementation, and aftercare plan.

CEDIA’s Cybersecurity Workshop will mix seminars and demonstrations with immersive and collaborative sessions. It will guide attendees through the most up-to-date examples of cybersecurity policies, allowing a company to ensure systems are implemented securely and customer expectations are managed.

Jeff Sonnleitner

The course will be led by Jeff Sonnleitner of Moraine

During the workshop, attendees will take part in sessions where they will create the outline for two important policies: an Operational Cybersecurity Policy for staff to ensure every network is designed and configured in a secure manner; and a User Cybersecurity Policy to guide end users in playing their part in maintaining security and privacy.

TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY Science and Snake Oil: Deconstructing the High Performance Audio Signal Path Peter Aylett, President and CTO, Archimedia Tuesday 11th

09:30 - 11:00

ROOM: D202

What does ‘accurate’ mean? What defines ‘great sound’? Why do different manufacturers all say that their system is ‘the best’? Though audio should be defined by objective science, the nature of reproducing the recorded arts means that notions of quality are mostly subjective. This fun and interactive session will separate science from snake oil from the perspective of the entire signal path — from source codec to room acoustics — and define the elements that come together to produce really great audio. Today’s sports world is all about how multiple marginal gains come together to deliver a winning performance. Think of the audio signal path as a series of marginal gains — this course will discuss that science and allow you to separate out the snake oil, using private cinema and consumer Hi-Fi signal paths as examples. This course is suitable for all professionals, experienced or not, looking to deliver great audio to their clients.

This session will take a deep dive into our daily interactions with “harmless” technology and will cover how to tackle the constant grapple for subconscious control of our information, our wallets, our devices, our lives, and the subtle — yet “smart” — subversion of our perception, and how to leverage this to leave customers more enriched, engaged, and enlightened.
