Admit One Home Systems
The mission here was simply stated: This family loves the movies, but hates going to the cinema. They wanted a world class audio and video experience. The client — who’s exceptionally fond of IMAX cinemas — wanted a screen as large as possible. The Admit One Home Systems team wasn’t willing to compromise 16:9 content by installing a 2.35:1 screen, so decided on a 16:9 screen with masking to 2.35:1, which allowed for a more impactful viewing experience from the Sony 4K laser projector. Additionally, the integrator was lucky to work with someone who had an appreciation for both high-quality video and audio. As a result, a 7.1.2 system provides a tremendous immersive sound experience from the content delivered by a Kaleidescape Strato player.
Staggered stud construction helps isolate the room, while speakers are stashed behind transparent fabrics and the 153" microperforated Stewart Filmscreen.

The room did present a few challenges, the most notable of which is the snack bar cabinetry at the back of the cinema. Rear speakers had to be placed carefully in the ceiling to provide the right-rear surround experience. Even though the homeowners are “empty nesters,” their family visits often — hence the seating for eight.
