The Cedars Boldest Innovation

The Sam L. Cohen Households challenges the conventional and outdated notions surrounding older adult care. The “Household Model” is much like the name implies and brings with it both design and operational elements that focus on person-centered care in a home environment.
The Sam L. Cohen Households
Grounded in a Culture of Person-Centered Care
Leading Life My Way

The adoption of the Life Story is widely recognized as one of the most important components in the effective treatment and care of residents in assisted, residential and long-term care settings. Engaging residents and family in “What Matters” to the individual will directly affect the success and ability to provide a meaningful person-centered approach to care.
What matters to you?

Ask what matters… Listen to what matters… Do what matters…

“I
am glad in the way my life has shaped me, and I have so many people and aspects of life to be thankful for. My new life at the Sam L. Cohen Households is filled with friendships, kindness, laughter, activities, good food, and privacy when I need it.” -Harvey W.

Raising nickels within the community, the Young Hebrew Women’s Association found a way to serve a great need for their Jewish elders. Today, The Cedars honors the tradition of serving Maine’s older adults as a leader in compassionate care. Our volunteers are an integral part of our daily operations, and the diverse threads of volunteerism
