Cedar Hill Prep had the joy of welcoming back one of our own—Jeeya Patel, CHP alumna and author of Adventures of Pablo and Pepas. Jeeya visited our Preschool through Kindergarten students for a special book reading session, sparking imagination and joy in our youngest learners.

The moment was made even more meaningful when Jeeya reunited with her former preschool teacher, Ms. Karen Holstein, capturing a sweet reminder that the bonds formed at CHP truly stand the test of time.

We are so proud to see our alumni giving back and inspiring the next generation of readers and dreamers!

Thinking Like a Leader: A Visit from Our Mystery Reader

X. Bridges’s mom, Ivy, read a laugh-out-loud picture book by New York Times bestselling author Karma Wilson and celebrated illustrator Matt Myers: A Dog Named Doug. Dogs love to dig—but one dog named Doug takes digging to new heights (and depths)! Meet Doug. Doug is a dog who loves to dig. But when Doug digs, he doesn’t just dig holes in the backyard. He digs…ditches the size of tractors! He digs…tunnels through gold mines! He even digs his way into…the White House! But not even the Secret Service can stop this digging doggy—because when Doug digs, oh boy, does Doug DIG! Thank you, Ivy, for reading this fun and energetic story with us!

I. Joshi’s mom, Purvi, was our final Mystery Reader of the year! She read Pea, Bee, & Jay #1: Stuck Together: A Graphic Novel by Brian “Smitty” Smith. Like all peas, Pea loves to roll. So when a no-good strawberry dares him to roll all the way off the farm, he’s determined to prove he can do it—easy me-zee! But along the way, a powerful thunderstorm strikes and sends Pea off course… right into two unlikely new friends: a bee named Bee, who thinks she knows it all, and a bird named Jay, who can’t quite figure out how to fly. On their own, they may not seem like much—but if this trio can stick together, they just might help Pea find his way back home! Thank you, Purvi, for sharing this humorous and heartwarming story with us!

This day would mark their transition into Middle School. For these curious, industrious, and creative students, the Grade 4 Graduation Ceremony marked the culmination of a collaborative effort that was highlighted by the students’ reflective speeches and enjoyment in singing. MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Math Mart 2025: Where Numbers Meet Innovation!

During the last week of school, our 7th-grade students, along with some 8th graders, applied their knowledge of percentages, discounts, mark-ups, and profit to real-world scenarios. As vendors at “Math Mart,” a marketplace of goods and services, students served fresh waffles, ice cream sundaes, homemade cakes, chocolate fondue skewers, quesadillas, ramen noodles, cotton candy, popcorn, and mocktails. We also had students exhibit talent like making origami, Pokemon art, and make 10 species of birds from cotton! From understanding supply and demand to managing competition and pricing, the students learned several key entrepreneurial lessons. They worked hard and made real profits!

CHP Faculty vs. CHP Volleyball Team

Our annual CHP Faculty vs CHP Volleyball Team volleyball was a big hit! The students came out strong, winning the first two games thanks to powerful serving by Aanya Vig. But the teachers weren’t going down without a fight— they rallied and took the final game, led by impressive serves from assistant coach Travis Villafranca. The middle school crowd cheered on both sides and had a blast watching the friendly competition. It was a fun and memorable way to wrap up the year!

Honoring Excellence in Middle School

The middle school award ceremony was dedicated to honoring every achievement of each of our students. It was a celebration of their hard work, talent, and perseverance across various fields.

From academic excellence to artistic accomplishments and sports achievements, every student’s effort was recognized and applauded, highlighting the diverse strengths and contributions that make our school community so vibrant and successful.

Team Bonding & Bear Sightings!

Our recent staff day trip to Princeton Blairstown Center for Outdoor Education was one for the books! We spent the day participating in team-building activities that helped us connect, laugh, and learn more about each other outside of our usual work routines.

The highlight? A surprise encounter with local wildlife — we spotted a juvenile black bear and, even more exciting, a mama bear with four playful cubs! Nature gave us a show we won’t forget, adding a thrilling twist to an already unforgettable day. Here’s to teamwork, fresh air, and a little adventure!

This summer, we say goodbye to one of Cedar Hill Prep’s most beloved educators — Ms. Ruth Sulitzer — as she retires after years of dedicated service that began when the school was still known as Oak Crest Academy. Ms. Sulitzer wore many hats during her time with us — from Admissions Coordinator to Kindergarten teacher — but her role in shaping young minds and hearts is what truly defines her legacy. She brought warmth, wisdom, and a steady calm to every child’s first steps into school life. Her classroom was a place of wonder, kindness, and encouragement. Generations of students have grown under her gentle guidance, and colleagues have cherished her humor and grace. And of course, we will never forget the way she sang the “Oak Crest Academy” song — a heartfelt reminder of where we began and how far we’ve come. Ms. Sulitzer, thank you for the love, the learning, and the memories. You’ve made a difference in every student — and in all of us.

With deepest gratitude, The Cedar Hill Prep Family

Farewell to Ms. Ruth Sulitzer — A True CHP Treasure

Cedar Hill Prep Celebrates Athletic Excellence at Annual Junior Olympics

Families were invited to campus to witness the opening ceremony, which began promptly at 10:00 AM with students marching out to the Olympic theme song—an unforgettable moment filled with pride and excitement. An 8th Grade student beautifully performed the National Anthem, setting a heartfelt tone for the day. Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students participated in their own age-appropriate Olympic-style activities, which concluded at lunchtime. Meanwhile, students in Grades 1 through 8 competed in five main events: the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 800-meter relay, and shot put. Participants were selected through qualifying trials held during gym classes, with the fastest boy and girl in each grade representing their peers. The event concluded with an award ceremony celebrating the dedication, effort, and sportsmanship of all participants. It was a memorable day that reflected the school’s commitment to fostering teamwork, perseverance, and joy in learning—both inside and outside the classroom.
