Cedar Crest Academy offers an outstanding educational program across its four campuses on the Eastside of King County Each campus boasts its own unique features and culture, yet all adhere to the same level of academic excellence The curriculum, consistent across all grade levels, has been specifically designed to meet the highest standards and ensure that all students receive the same exceptional education, regardless of the campus they attend
Elementary program covers Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
Are Kindergarten through Fifth Grade classes available at all schools?
All Cedar Crest Academy locations offer Kindergarten to ensure a smooth transition from Pre-Primary to Elementary However, only our Bellewood campus offers classes from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Kindergartners at Park Highland, Northup, and Redmond transfer to Bellewood Elementary for First Grade and continue through Fifth Grade
Do all campuses provide the same accelerated curriculum?
Yes! All campuses follow the same curriculum, ensuring every student has equal access to learning materials and growth opportunities. Additionally, teachers from the same grade band meet monthly across all campuses to share strategies, lesson plans, and innovative activities.
Which campus should I choose?
When selecting a campus, families often consider the daily commute and proximity to home. Some prefer our smaller campuses for a more intimate atmosphere, while others opt for larger ones. We encourage families to prioritize their child’s needs in this decision. Regardless of the choice, all campuses provide equal access to resources and opportunities for learning and development
Why is Bellewood Pre-Primary not accepting applications or hosting tours?
Currently, we are not offering tours or accepting applications for Bellewood's Preschool and Pre-K programs, as we may not have the capacity to accommodate new students due to re-enrollment of our current families We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates should spots become available later in the year Thank you!
Cedar Crest Academy’s programming seamlessly supports students from Preschool through Fifth Grade To ensure your child’s smooth transition and continuity in our curriculum, we encourage families to enroll as early as possible, as spaces in our elementary program are limited
For many students, our Pre-Primary program is their first introduction to a school setting. Here, we promote creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning within a structured and predictable environment. We nurture their educational, social, and emotional growth while supporting their individual interests and learning paces, laying a strong foundation for their future
The transition from Pre-Primary to the Elementary program marks a significant milestone for Kindergarten students At this stage, students further develop their foundational skills and are presented with an environment that offers structured and engaging challenges The Kindergarten program serves as a crucial stepping stone in the academic journey of young learners, providing them with a solid base as they continue to first grade and beyond.
As students advance through the upper elementary grades, they cultivate a deeper passion for learning. Our curriculum encourages curiosity and exploration, while also honing critical thinking and reasoning skills. Students benefit from collaborative opportunities, leadership development, effective communication training, and participation in philanthropic activities, preparing them for future success.
Starting your child’s journey in our Pre-Primary program at Cedar Crest Academy unlocks a world of possibilities that lasts throughout their educational experience We believe that early childhood education lays the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning Our program blends academic and play-based learning to ignite creativity, selfexpression, and essential problem-solving skills.
Early enrollment helps children embrace our school culture, fostering a deep sense of belonging as they progress seamlessly from Preschool to Fifth Grade By joining us early, families can secure admissions more easily, ensuring their children build a strong foundation for academic and social growth.
As your child embarks on this transformative journey, they will create cherished memories within a vibrant community of learners. How do Pre-Primary families stay updated on their child’s habits?
Cedar Crest Academy’s Pre-Primary staff rely on Brightwheel, an online childcare software, for their daily operations. Using this application, Pre-Primary families can receive regular updates on their child's eating, sleeping, and potty habits. Additionally, teachers can easily send messages and share pictures to keep families fully informed about their child's progress and overall experience at school.
Are Pre-Primary students required to wear uniforms?
No Uniforms are only required for our students who attend Kindergarten - Fifth Grade at the Bellewood location All Pre-Primary students are asked to wear weatherappropriate and comfortable clothes so they can participate in school activities
Does my child need to be potty trained?
Yes All Pre-Primary students are required to be fully potty trained before they begin school. It is a strict policy of our program and pull-ups or nap-time diapers are not permitted. We do, however, understand that accidents are common for students at this age, so we request parents to send extra pairs of clothes.
Is Cedar Crest Academy a Montessori style program?
Cedar Crest Academy is not a Montessori school. Although we do incorporate some Montessori teaching techniques and tools, our approach to learning is a blend of play and exploration through formal lessons. Unlike Montessori, our Pre-Primary students are grouped into grade levels that are strictly based on their chronological age. We adhere to this age requirement to ensure compliance with local public schools
As students enter Elementary, they embark on an immersive learning experience, exploring various disciplines with greater depth and curiosity. Our well-rounded and inclusive core curriculum is enhanced by in-school specialists and a diverse array of clubs, all aimed at nurturing ethical, creative, and compassionate individuals. Through both whole-group and small-group instruction, students are empowered to engage deeply with the material while receiving personalized guidance
At Cedar Crest Academy, we are dedicated to helping every Elementary student achieve academic, social, and emotional excellence. Our goal is to instill confidence, curiosity, and courage, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need for success in middle school
All Cedar Crest Academy locations offer Kindergarten to ensure a smooth transition from Pre-Primary to Elementary. However, our Bellewood campus uniquely provides programming from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.

My child is academically advanced. How will the Elementary program accommodate their needs?
Cedar Crest Academy's elementary curriculum is specially designed to be one grade level advanced than the regular curriculum for their grade Our small class sizes also enable us to provide personalized attention to every student by tailoring the instruction to their specific needs We also use standardized assessments and a math placement test to ensure that each student gets an appropriate challenge.
What are Clubs? How do they enhance the core curriculum?
Every year, Elementary staff organize clubs that cater to different disciplines and interests such as yoga, dance, reading, bird-watching, theatre, and more. All students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade participate in ten clubs throughout the year, with each club rotation occurring twice a week.
While Cedar Crest Academy has expanded to four campuses, our commitment to individualized learning and establishing a strong connection between the home and school environments remains unchanged. We believe parents are influential partners in their child's education and want to emphasize parent involvement and open communication.
We recognize that every child learns at their own pace and has unique learning styles, and our goal is to support each student and collaborate with their families to help them reach their full potential. We challenge our students to explore difficult content and encourage them to broaden their understanding of each subject area.
We do the following to further individualize our curriculum and communicate with families
Students in Pre-Primary and Elementary are given assessments so teachers can evaluate their understanding of the curriculum and alter their teaching strategies accordingly Progress reports are also sent home to parents to provide a more formal review to families.
At the conclusion of the academic year, every family is presented with a Student Portfolio, which is a tangible representation of their child's development and progress over the year. Teachers diligently gather samples of each student's work from September onwards
Both Pre-Primary and Elementary programs host conferences and additional opportunities for families to connect with staff. Our aim is to encourage families to collaborate with teachers in setting academic, social, and emotional goals for their child.
Each campus has a distinct familylike culture which allows students to develop stronger and more meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers. Our small class sizes also help instruction to be personalized and focused.
We are committed to providing your children with fresh, organic, and nutritious meals daily We believe that a healthy body is essential for learning, which is why we offer high-quality, well-balanced meals that include all five food groups, along with organic milk, fruits, and vegetables.
Each Cedar Crest Academy campus features a four-week rotating menu prepared by our trained chefs We ensure that all meals and snacks adhere to strict health, safety, and sanitation standards set by our school and Washington State's Health Department and Department of Early Learning.
