Over a beer in 2013, one of my close friends said, “isn’t it time you did your own thing?”. I had literally never given it a thought as I’d been so focused on selling yachts. But with the seed planted, I couldn't shake it.
All the frustrations of being part of a big business could be banished in a heartbeat. I could focus my attention on my best clients and not waste time on internal politics. So, from the dining table in my flat, Cecil Wright & Partners was born.
From the outset my plan was simple: to look after a select number of clients as well as I possibly could. Make it about them, their families, and their yachts. Not about me and my business. I wouldn’t need to worry about spending time and money on branding as my clients already knew me. I thought, if I do a good job, they’ll recommend me to their 10 friends. That was the model.
My mantra quickly became "fewer clients, served better" and it remains the most distilled and potent expression of our approach.
Clients, shipyards, senior crew and, most importantly, our brokerage colleagues now regard us a reliable ally in the business of large yachts. The number of deals we transact has grown and so, inevitably, our business has grown. But it is steady organic growth to meet demand, not simply for the sake of growth.
Our expansion into Charter Central Agency management was in response to regular requests from our clients. It’s been a speedy ascent and I’m proud to announce here that we have just signed the magnificent, brand-new, 122m KISMET to our fleet. We now manage 12 charter yachts and I see this department becoming even more essential to our offer in the future.
However, beyond the vessels and transactions, it is the people – our dedicated team – who truly define our identity. They're not just colleagues; they're friends. There’s a great sense of fun and purpose in the office where every person brings their own expertise and energy. We communicate 24/7 over a myriad of WhatsApp groups. Some are totally private and deal related, others are group chats about market intelligence and others are inevitably sports related. It’s communication that counts and our team is good at it.
Looking back on the last 10 years, it's rewarding to see what we've built together. We’ve embraced technology to help us gather and share the data our clients need to make the best decisions; and looking forward, technology becomes even more important, as artificial intelligence helps us further with analysis, but in this era of virtual interactions, we've made it our mission to be 'real'. Cecil Wright is run by real people with really useful connections and real expertise. And that's something we’re proud of.
Having sold the 95.2m KISMET (renamed WHISPER) in 2023, we are thrilled to announce our appointment as Charter Central Agent for her replacement, the extraordinary new KISMET. Like her predecessor, she is a Lürssen, but at 122m she truly is in a class of her own and totally redefines opulence on the water.
At the time of printing, she was so new and so rare that no real-life photography was available which, for now, only adds to her mystique. She is the pinnacle of exclusivity in the realm of charter yachts. Let us reiterate, KISMET is not just a superyacht; she's an experience beyond all comparison and comprehension. Her launch sets a new benchmark for luxury at every turn. Now allow us to tempt you with some details.
Indulge in a world of wellness where every whim is met with luxurious finesse. Step into a realm of tranquillity inspired by the serene beauty of Bali. The opulent spa is a sanctuary of rejuvenation, boasting a hammam, heated loungers, sauna, plunge pool, ice fountain and a cosy fireplace to melt away the stresses of modern life. Recover from your workout in her cryotherapy chamber or find your balance in KISMET's state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor gym and yoga studio, complete with a refreshing juice bar to nourish body and soul.
When you step aboard, entertainment knows no bounds. Picture this: an enchanting outdoor cinema awaits you on the bridge deck, setting the stage for unforgettable movie nights under the stars. But wait, there's more! Venture below-deck to experience the Nemo cinema, boasting a stunning 150” drop-down screen for an immersive viewing
experience like no other or dive deeper as you find yourself mesmerised by the underwater viewing lounge, where the ocean itself becomes your cinematic backdrop. Dance the night away on the pool deck disco floor or showcase your skills on the Boganyi grand piano. With multiple bars, including a Champagne bar, and cutting-edge technology for sports or movie nights, the possibilities for fun are endless.
For those seeking thrills on the water, KISMET offers a plethora of water sports toys, from WaveRunners to E-foils, ensuring endless excitement. Dive into crystal-clear waters for snorkelling or explore the depths with top-ofthe-range dive gear. And when it's time to relax, unwind on the floating deck, creating unforgettable memories on the water.
Satisfy your palate with KISMET's unparalleled culinary offerings, ranging from Michelin-star dining to casual fare from the outdoor kitchen. Indulge in a teppanyaki feast on the pool deck or enjoy al fresco dining with a BBQ. With a wine cellar to tantalise oenophiles, every meal is a celebration of taste and luxury.
Find solace in KISMET's expansive interiors, where her design scheme boasts the very best in tactile materials and intricate craftsmanship, and where even the air itself feels somehow rarefied – then enjoy the exterior spaces of KISMET, designed for both relaxation and sophisticated entertaining. With ample seating configurations and cosy fireplaces, guests can unwind in comfort and style, whether indoors or out.
Accommodating up to 12 guests across eight luxurious staterooms, KISMET ensures every need is met with a minimum crew of 36. From seamless service to unparalleled attention to detail, every moment aboard KISMET is tailored to perfection, ensuring an unforgettable journey on the waves.
KISMET will only be enjoyed by a very limited few and she is available exclusively from Cecil Wright.

Experience the unparalleled thrill of the Monaco Grand Prix, a pinnacle event in the Formula 1 calendar boasting a rich history dating back to 1929. Renowned for its glamour, this iconic race transforms the principality into a hub of excitement, drawing actors, artists, celebrities, and tycoons from around the globe.
ROSS CARSONThere’s no better way to view the racing and absorb the high-octane action than on board a superyacht!
Watching the F1 drama unfold while drinking Champagne with your family, friends or colleagues is a once-in-alifetime experience.
The team at Cecil Wright has expertise on all things yachting, with the Monaco Grand Prix being no exception.
The complexities around a Monaco Grand Prix charter can be quite daunting for a client. Finding the right yacht is particularly important. We usually suggest a tri-deck vessel with ample amounts of outdoor deck space, especially on the sundeck and bridge-deck aft areas. This will ensure an optimal viewing platform for you and your guests.
Once the yacht is booked, we begin the process of securing a Zone-1 berth in Port Hercule. These berths have the best views of the circuit and are notoriously difficult to guarantee, with the straight between the chicane and Tabac corner being the most desirable location for a superyacht. Here yachts are backed up
against the port wall giving an unobstructed view from the exit of the tunnel through to Tabac corner.
Amongst the complexities are the things you’ll need to be eligible for a track-side berth: firstly, you’ll need a driver’s letter from a current F1 driver, and secondly, you’ll have to secure a letter from an F1 sponsor. Both are essential for your berth application.
Cecil Wright has a close relationship with the port and the key decision makers within F1. This allows us to give an accurate prediction on where we think the yacht will be located.
This year we have five yachts attending the Monaco Grand Prix (23rd – 26th May), four of which have a prestigious, track-side berth overlooking the circuit.
Please get in touch should you require further information about the Monaco Grand Prix. We have the experience, the knowledge and expertise to help create an unforgettable Monaco Grand Prix experience for you, your family, and friends.
Why she represents the best deal on the water.
Launched in 2010, the 90.1m Lürssen PHOENIX 2 is presented in pristine condition and exudes Manhattan Art Deco opulence. Designed for exquisite indoor/ outdoor living, she boasts voluminous interior and exterior spaces across several decks: ideal for relaxing or entertaining. She combines multiple sensational attributes such as a movie theatre, dedicated spa and gym, a beauty salon, beach club and an elevator. Offering flexible accommodation for up to 14 guests in seven cabins, she features famous interior and exterior styling by Andrew Winch.
She has just completed a major refit of around seven months in Barcelona, with the main task being the total rebuild and zeroing of her MTU engines.
The opportunity was taken to also look at the rest of the powertrain; gearboxes were rebuilt, all the shaft lines checked, props taken away for balancing, and the rudders, thrusters and stabilisers dropped out, checked and refurbished.
On deck, forward areas were also taped, masked and repainted, and the interiors meticulously refreshed. Even to an expert eye PHOENIX 2 is now as close to a brand-new vessel as is possible to achieve. Compared to the lengthy planning, build-time and cost of commissioning a new yacht, PHOENIX 2 represents the outstanding deal on the market. She is asking EUR 124,950,000 (VAT paid).
Epitomising ‘true luxury’, Loro Piana Interiors is the go-to fabric and accessories producer for world-leading shipyards and designers.
RACHEL INGRAMModern luxury is all in the details. Superyacht owners expect the best so when it comes to furnishing their prized vessels, the intricate finishing touches become as important as statement pieces. Quality and comfort can be instantly found – or lost – through fabric choice, which is why, like in fashion, many designers turn to Italian textile manufacturers. Loro Piana Interiors is one such producer. Known for crafting versatile and high-performance materials which are ideal for life at sea, the brand combines fine craftsmanship with innovative research to create fabrics and accessories that exude understated elegance.
Loro Piana Interiors is the “perfect expression of Italian savoir faire,” say famed designers Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering, co-founders of Lazzarini Pickering Architects. “Loro Piana Interiors expresses the artisan sense of industry that is an essential and unique part of Italian design and production. [It] combines research, design and quality; revelling in new challenges and inventing technological developments with an extraordinary eye and elegance and attention to quality.”
The designers, like many others in the industry, regularly call on Loro Piana Interiors to create textiles for their superyacht projects, which include 36-metre motor yacht KOJU and 37-metre superyacht MOTOPANFILO, both built by Italian shipyard Benetti.
“Luxury is a now widely abused adjective but we believe the MOTOPANFILO 37M and its design express a new meaning for the word in yachting,” Lazzarini and Pickering add. “She’s the unique expression of two Italian companies that express what true luxury and the Italian ‘way of life’ really mean.”
“Benetti and Loro Piana Interiors share many values, first and foremost a focus on fine craftsmanship and a predilection for timeless elegance. This is in fact the stylistic essence of the Benetti MOTOPANFILO 37M, which embraces our yachting

heritage and projects it into the future, making it the perfect fit for the style embodied by Loro Piana Interiors,” adds Giovanna Vitelli, President of the Azimut/Benetti Group, which has also utilised the company’s fabrics on builds such as 67-metre full custom yacht CALEX.
As well as offering its bespoke services, Loro Piana Interiors creates annual fabrics and accessories collections. The 2024 range features customisable pieces for the bedroom, dining room, bathroom and spa which draw on the brand’s signature palette, blended with watercolour hues and enhanced by new iterations of classic Loro Piana Interiors patterns. Several innovative new textiles have also been introduced, including Tweed spun from pure cashmere, cotton velvet, sustainable hemp and weatherresistant Trevira® – ideal for outdoor decks.
“The foundation of our collections is always the textiles,” says Francesco Pergamo, Director of the Loro Piana Interiors division.
“For 2024, with a view towards personalisation, we’re focusing on the finest linens and cottons, and of course wherever possible a touch of cashmere, which is the essence of our DNA.”
“Keeping faithful to our ‘spirit of service’, this year we’ve intentionally concentrated on completing the range of highperformance fabrics, which are also really versatile in terms of textures and weights, size, composition and performance, while never failing to offer inimitable sensory experiences that speak volumes about us and our know-how.”
Such fabrics are ideal for yachting as the constant wear and tear of chartering demands optimum quality and durability. But for Loro Piana Interiors, there’s also always a guarantee of style and elegance that resonates with the ‘Made in Italy’ moniker. loropianainteriors.com

With exterior design by Ed Dubois, and interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon, KOKOMO was the second largest sloop in the world at launch in 2010, and remains the largest, fast-cruising sloop available for charter. Even though she has an enormous 74m-high mast and 2,230 square metres of spinnaker, she can be sailed by just two people thanks to the helming and trimming technology onboard.
She can cruise into bays shallower than her mast suggests, thanks to her innovative 130-ton lifting keel, which effectively reduces her draft from 8.7m down to 4.6m. The interior layout is carefully laid out so that the raised keel remains hidden.
Charter KOKOMO and you will experience luxurious living with exhilarating sailing experiences. Ideal for families, KOKOMO boasts a child-friendly setup, ensuring comfort and enjoyment for all guests. With a master suite, VIP cabin, double cabin, and two twin cabins, along with two Pullman beds, she accommodates guests with ease; whilst a crew of 10 ensures impeccable service throughout your stay.
Indulge in onboard comforts and entertainment, including a deck with a hot tub for relaxation amidst breath-taking vistas, Wi-Fi for staying connected, and air-conditioning for year-round comfort. KOKOMO's aluminium hull and superstructure, powered by twin Caterpillar engines, afford a cruising speed of 13 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots, with a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles.
Get closer to the ocean with KOKOMO's impressive array of water toys; from Laser Vago sailboats and towable toys to scuba diving equipment and paddleboards. Additionally, a 6.1m/20' Hamilton Jet tender ensures seamless transfers from ship to shore.
Available for charter in the Caribbean in European winter and the Mediterranean during summer, KOKOMO promises an unparalleled luxury yacht vacation, delivering an exceptional blend of sophistication and thrilling adventure, under sail, for discerning travellers.

If you're underway, in a rush or visiting remote destinations, there are times when a tender simply won't do. A helicopter takes accessibility, convenience and comfort to new heights, starting the enjoyment of the yachting experience long before you board. For the owners of the world's largest superyachts, helicopters are elegant extensions of their floating homes. Far from being an afterthought, they're often customised and built into the blueprint of a new vessel, becoming an essential feature from day one.
RACHEL INGRAMOwners and shipyards seeking the best turn to Airbus Corporate Helicopters (ACH). Launched in 2017 as a division of Airbus Group, ACH offers the largest range of helicopters in the skies, including a growing fleet of single- and twin-engine crafts designed for the unique needs of the superyacht owner. Favouring form as well as function, ACH’s helicopters feature elegant styling, penned by a special creative team occassionally in collaboration with leading designers and brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin.
“Our aircraft are always executed with the highest standards of craftsmanship, which makes each product instantly recognisable at the first glance,” says Frederic Lemos, Head of ACH. “The key differentiator for ACH is our unparalleled focus on meeting the highly specific and very demanding requirements of private and business aviation owners and operators. We created ACH with the explicit goal of taking this kind of customer through the journey of helicopter ownership from first enquiry to final disposal.”
The yachting industry has been at the forefront of the company's mind since day one. “We identified the yacht-based market as a key sector even before the creation of ACH and we’ve developed exceptional expertise in yacht operations,” Lemos says. “From the moment that design starts on a new vessel we are ready to engage with the customer in order to ensure that the final configuration is the optimal design and size to meet the owner’s objectives.”
Among modern superyacht owners, the ACH145 is currently the most popular model installed on new builds. “It’s twinengined and provides the single best solution in terms of internal cabin size and compact external size taking into account the restrictions of deck dimensions,” Lemos says. “We see a lot of them during the summer season onboard yachts.”
This modular aircraft is super flexible thanks to its changeable seating arrangement that can be modified to seat four to eight passengers – or removed to fit cargo. It’s suited for exploration in a broad range of destinations and climates due to its fixed landing gear, robust build and high-performance engine.
The six-passenger ACH135 is another excellent option for superyacht owners. Like the ACH145, this model has a very compact footprint which is important because the deck space reserved for helicopters can be tight. Owners requiring additional seats can opt for larger ACH160 and ACH175 models, depending on the availability of space.
“It’s so important to talk to us at an early stage in the design process so that we can advise on the appropriate helicopter and ensure that the correct helipad is incorporated,” Lemos says, adding that not all yachts are suitable for helicopter installation. “In general, 50 metres is the minimum required length for a yacht to be suitable for helicopter carriage. ACH expects an average of seven new projects each year with potential for helicopters.”
For all its models, ACH offers clients complete interior customisation. One of the design team’s greatest challenges to date was the creation of a bespoke vegan leather interior for an animal-loving client – vegan leather doesn’t bend and stretch in the same way as non-vegan alternatives, I’m told, but you’d never know looking at the finished craft.
Clients also have the option to select designs created in collaboration with world-leading brands, including prestigious car manufacturers. Two stand-out launches are the ACH145 Mercedes-Benz Style and the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition. “The former is very well suited to yacht operations while also benefitting from Mercedes-Benz’s design expertise. It has excellent potential for exploration activities but at the same time the interior is incredibly sophisticated in line with our clients’ lifestyles,” says Lemos. “With Aston Martin we incorporate their design values into the ACH130 single to produce a superb looking helicopter reflecting the agility and sports styling of the manufacturers’ cars.”
Headquartered in France but with a global footprint, ACH stays with clients long after delivery, offering support solutions wherever they are in the world they sail – another reason that the company blows competitors out of the water.

In February 2024, the Cecil Wright team was privileged to be invited by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquity on a nine-day trip to discover the country’s ancient treasures and explore its potential as a destination for superyachts.
The delegation of 12 industry professionals took an in-depth tour of the Red Sea coastline to visit some of the existing and proposed marinas and resorts, as well as the many fascinating wonders of this ancient land.
Driven by a desire to bolster its yachting infrastructure and attract superyachts, the Egyptian government aims to maximise its 1,800 miles of Mediterranean and Red Sea coastline, which boasts an enviable climate, characterised by minimal rainfall and year-round warmth. The region's exceptional scuba diving opportunities, with shipwrecks, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life, present an alternative to the Mediterranean. There is huge potential for Egypt to become an oasis for superyachts, and although much investment is needed, the will is certainly there.
The first marina visited was the still under-construction El Galala. The development was conceived as a world-class marina with top-class amenities. Due for completion next year, El Galala is located 30 miles south of Suez and a 90-minute drive from Cairo, on the western shores of the Red Sea. With a rugged mountainous backdrop and sparkling shoreline, the plan is to offer 300 berths, residences, shops and restaurants.
Home to three already well-established marinas El-Gouna, near Hurghada, is Egypt’s busiest yachting centre. Development here started 30 years ago and the purpose-built resort is a network of small lagoons, canals, and cobbled streets, with a relaxing atmosphere. The bougainvillea and terracotta tones give an almost Mediterranean vibe. The diving here is spectacular, with prolific marine life. Visibility is excellent and there are some 60 dive sites, 10 of which are wrecks.
Lapped by the Red Sea on three sides, with sandy beaches and views of desert mountains, Somabay lies 28 miles south of Hurghada. Spread across 2,500 acres, the luxury resort has golf courses and the largest Thalasso spa in Africa. The five-star Cascades Golf Resort enjoys a fantastic location on the highest point of the Somabay peninsula. The marina itself offers a total of 44 berths for yachts up to 40m. Visitors can also enjoy a range of boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
For the superyacht delegation, the highlight of this journey was stepping onboard one of the country’s less-known treasures, the 160-year-old presidential yacht EL MAHROUSSA. Tucked away in a heavily guarded naval base in Alexandria, EL MAHROUSSA is cared for by the Egyptian Navy. The yacht was commissioned by Khedive Ismail for his personal use and is still used by Egypt’s President, HE Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, to host visiting dignitaries.
EL MAHROUSSA (meaning guarded by God’s blessing) is the oldest yacht in the world still in use and has borne witness to the history of modern Egypt. Despite her age, at 146m she is still ranked the eleventh largest in the world. Until now, she had never been seen by anyone in the superyacht industry. Our charter broker, Lucinda Rosen comments,
“Going onboard EL MAHROUSSA was such a privilege and was like stepping back in time. The yacht has remained almost unchanged since her launch. The guest cabins, which once belonged to the royal princesses, still have their original furniture and even the rather fragile and faded bedcovers. It is extraordinary to think that this yacht hosted historical figures like the Empress Eugenie (wife of Napoleon III) at the inauguration of the Suez Canal in 1869. The Empress gifted a piano which is still onboard and in working order. We were even able to have a tinkle! Made in Germany in 1867, this piano is considered the oldest and most valuable in the world. It was wonderful to see the pride the naval officers take in caring for this amazing yacht.”
Although EL MAHROUSSA is closely protected and not open to visitors, it seems the Egyptian government may be considering ways in which she could become an ambassador for yachting in Egypt. Maybe one day she will be opened in some capacity so that this floating palace and her treasures might be appreciated by a wider audience.

LUCINDA ROSENDepending on who you ask, there are somewhat polarized feelings about the state of the yacht market. Undoubtedly the smaller end of the market has felt the impact of wider financial market concerns and interest rate increases but I would argue that it has had little impact on the larger yacht market – if well priced, appropriately marketed and in good order, large yachts are turning around from owner to owner at as fast a pace as ever.

At Cecil Wright, we kicked off the 2023/24 sales season by selling the 95.20m Lürssen KISMET (2014) asking EUR 149,000,000 after only three months of listing her, an industry record for this size of yacht and not surprisingly one of the largest sales of the past 12 months. This presented us with a bit of an issue as we had planned to present her at the Monaco Yacht Show as the largest yacht for sale. Thankfully, we took on the listing for another Lürssen, the 90.1m PHOENIX 2 (2010 / 2024) asking EUR 124,950,000 and we neatly filled the berth. Following the show she headed straight for Barcelona where she is undergoing an EUR 10 million refit. In viewable condition by April and due to relaunch by the end of May, she represents a unique opportunity to buy a top pedigree yacht in immaculate condition that won’t need any significant work for several years to come – and at less than half the replacement cost of a new build today.
New build inflation is something that is recognised across the yards in the industry and is something that we believe hasn’t
yet been fully priced into the secondary market. With the global rate of inflation being in the region of 12%-16% over the last two years, this translates to an effective discount on brokerage yacht prices (certainly for those that have been listed at the same asking price over this period).
At the top end of the market there are limited options but there are some standout opportunities, some of which have this inflation built in and others not. The 91m Lürssen LADY LARA (2015 / 2023), with her gleaming white interior is asking EUR 230,000,000. The 74m Amels NEW SECRET (2017) asking EUR 109,000,000 is another new to market option which I suspect won’t be available for long. The 67m Heesen SPARTA (2024) is asking EUR 99,000,000 and is one of the very few brand-new yachts available in the world. Lastly, we have the 60m Amels COME TOGETHER (2022) asking EUR 59,950,000. She achieved a phenomenal amount of charter last season which more than covered her running costs and is the first of the extremely popular Amels 60 range.
Yacht Name LADY LARA PHOENIX 2
There has been a significant increase in sales activity of Feadships in the last 12 months, with 15 sales completing. The increase has not only been in volume but also in terms of both length and value. There were seven sales over 60m, the most notable of which were the 77.32m PI (2019) asking POA, the 75.00m ARROW (2020) asking EUR 139,900,000, the in-build 71.76m SAKURA (delivery 2025) asking POA and the 68.77m DRIZZLE (2012 / 2019) asking EUR 63,000,000.
The speed at which sales have been completing has also been unusually rapid with six of the 15 sales completing in less than four months from listing, including four of the seven 60m+ listings mentioned above.
Whilst there are 43 Feadships on the open market, if you are looking for specific areas within the fleet then the options start to become rather reduced. The standouts from the fleet are the 85.30m SAVANNAH (2015 / 2020) asking POA, which at 2,305 GT is the largest Feadship for sale by some margin. The next option is the inbuild 75.80m Project 825, asking EUR 169,500,000, which is due for launch at the end of this year and if one considers the 3–4-year build time plus the inflationary impact then this really presents a very interesting opportunity. Another rare opportunity is for the 55.21m SOMNIUM (2021), asking EUR 75,000,000. She is one of two Feadships on the market that are less than 10 years old and whilst her asking price does seem a little high, when compared to replacement cost, it is on about a par and there is of course some room for negotiation.
An option which I feel is probably overlooked in the market is the 62.30m FLAG (2000 / 2022) asking EUR 39,500,000. She has been for sale collectively for a little over 2½ years having been listed, withdrawn and then relisted which I suspect might lead to some trepidation about buying her. The truth of the matter is that the
owner wasn’t realistically a seller initially but this has now changed and this was indicated by a reduction in the asking price.
New to the market and listed with the team at Cecil Wright is the 49.99m HERCULES (1998 / 2024) asking EUR 19,500,000 (VAT paid). Having just passed her 25 year Lloyd's Survey, she represents a turnkey opportunity to acquire an overtly robustly-built Feadship.
Last but by no means least is the 30m LA MASCARADE (1997 / 2022). Asking EUR 3,495,000 she is a one-off in terms of what Feadship built of this age and having recently completed a refit at Pendennis, is ready to go to a new Owner.
Other phenomenal Feadships for sale are:
– PREDATOR – 72.80m, 2008 / 2016, asking EUR 69,000,000
– SEA OWL – 61.87m, 2013, asking USD 90,000,000
– KAHALANI – 55.05m, 2010, asking EUR 39,750,000
– OLYMPUS – 55.00m, 1996 / 2023, asking USD 28,500,000 – SEA HUNTRESS – 55.00m, 1997 / 2022, asking EUR 26,750,000
BERILDA – 47.10m, 2001 / 2022, asking USD 21,000,000
– GO – 43.00m, 2010 / 2020, asking EUR 18,700,000
As ever there are off market opportunities in both the Feadship market and the wider market, details of which are available on request along with information of in-build projects that are available for sale both openly and in the closed market.
INSPIRATION
Taxidermy was once considered the remit of eccentric pub landlords and country estate owners but the artform is experiencing somewhat of a renaissance. Eccentricity is still the key to modern taxidermy but the ancient craft has taken on a fresh lease of life thanks to the pioneering work of Dutch duo Jaap Sinke and Ferry van Tongeren.
The former advertising creatives founded Fine Taxidermy in 2013, fuelled by a joint curiosity of the process of animal preservation. After shadowing a traditional taxidermist who taught them the age-old technique, they set out to modernise the art for the next generation, combining their learnings with their experience of creative direction to transform ethically sourced animals into unique works of art.
The duo launched their first collection at an exhibition in London in 2015 and immediately took the art world by storm. Illustrious British artist Damien Hirst, known for his sensational works, bought all 39 pieces for his private collection. “It was a jump start and a recognition that we were right thinking that what we thought was beautiful and special could be agreed on by a niche market,” says Jaap.
With Hirst’s endorsement, the duo persevered, and their expanding collections were quickly coveted by collectors, fashion designers, gallerists and interior designers who placed them in houses, palaces, and hospitality venues around the world.
Jaap and Ferry’s most iconic works include giant bird cages covered in colourful, exotic parrots, and wall hangings comprised of snakes that dramatically swirl around each other. “People see that what we do has nothing to do with the dusty stuff you know from old pubs or grandparents' houses,” says Jaap. “We are recognised as the people who changed and revived taxidermy.”
Fine Taxidermy only works with animals, birds and reptiles that lived and died in captivity of natural causes, meaning it's often a long process to find desired bodies suitable for the taxidermy process. “Sourcing animals was a very challenging task in the beginning,” Jaap says. “We focused on zoos and special breeders to get the most rare and special specimens.”
As they don't accept hunted or poached animals, Jaap isn't concerned about backlash from campaigners – their greatest headache is the admin involved in securing the animals and delivering the finished pieces. “It is a very regulated business; there is a lot of paperwork involved,” he says.
Fine Taxidermy’s creative process is led by “intuition and inspiration”. “We just see combinations appear in our imagination and start sketching flamboyant poses to create our signature style,” Jaap says. “Every animal we create has a unique pose. This means we don’t work with factory moulds to put the skin around. We sculpt every mannequin ourselves in a very dramatic or flirting pose.”
When they’re not in the studio in The Netherlands, the pair travel the globe to source animals for their “frozen vault”. Inspired by golden age painters Melchior d’Hondecoeter, Jan Weenix and Frans Snijders, they also seek out quality 17th-century ornaments and antique bases to complete their compositions.
The company’s pieces are mostly tailormade commissions for clients, including several superyacht owners. For one British business tycoon looking to decorate his Feadship explorer yacht, the pair created an onboard ‘Darwin Room’ inspired by 19th-century naturalist and biologist Charles Darwin. “We created a number of wunderkammer collection boxes with shells, eggs and hummingbirds mounted as scientific specimens,” Jaap says. “We also created a work with a complete collection of birds from the Turaco family. To gather such a collection of different species within one family of birds took us years to complete.”
Currently Jaap and Ferry are collecting rare dinosaur fossils for a special collection. So far, they've secured an elephant bird, a basilosaurus, and a giant mososaurus skull. Projects such as this are about more than art; they spread an important message of preservation and the immortalisation of nature’s animals for the next generation.
The next stage of Fine Taxidermy’s mission to transform the industry is to make their work accessible to the public in a permanent exhibition. “Our ultimate goal is to create a museum of endangered species in our creative style,” Jaap explains. “We want to fill a beautiful monumental building in a European capital with works that will be beautiful and tell the message of wildlife preservation with much more impact.”

We were naturally delighted when Vita Heathcote and Chris (Twiggy) Grube claimed silver in the 470 World Championships in early 2024 and by doing so secured Team GB, and themselves, a qualifying place in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
There are many enthusiastic sailors within Cecil Wright and grassroots sailing is something that Chris Cecil-Wright holds very close to his heart, so it was a natural fit for Cecil Wright & Partners to support Vita over the last three years with a boat, sails and enthusiasm to help her achieve her dream of reaching the 2024 Summer Games. Letter from Vita:
“I want to thank Cecil Wright who has been there throughout; right from the start, always in my corner and giving me the backing I need to achieve great things! Their support has given me the confidence in myself that I’ve needed at times to keep pushing. It is a very special partnership that I value greatly.
Having not raced since August 2023, I felt a bit blind going into the Worlds in terms of where we stacked up in the fleet. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but I knew we had to use what we did have and fight bloody hard! What everyone else does is out of our control, we needed to channel our learning and bring the best versions of ourselves, and I was confident we would come out well. And boy did we do that!
I’m very proud to say we found the best versions of ourselves – through solid routines and utter focus. Every day I would go out with the thought of right, I’m just going to concentrate as hard as I possibly can, knowing that our boat WILL go fast!
After six months of training, I was SO ready to go racing. Waking up on day one of the event, I was literally vibrating with energy! This is why we do what we do. It’s for this moment. Getting on that start line, heart rate elevated, I channel that energy into absolute focus on the task at hand.
I can’t explain how much I love 470 racing! There is nothing on planet Earth like it. The pureness and intensity of it is incomparable to any other racing.
Every day I was awake at 6am (my body just decided to) buzzing for the day ahead, I literally couldn’t contain my energy and
excitement! We kept things simple, were comprehensive and consistent with our pre-race routines. We would always have the right conversations; about the conditions, identify priorities and style of sailing needed for the day.
It is so great to have such experience in the boat with me. This was Twiggy’s 15th World Championships! Knowing that he’d been under this pressure 15 times before was so reassuring and allowed me to fully focus on my job, knowing full well that he was doing the same.
What I determined was this… we race very well together. Things feel simple and collaborative, that’s not to say easy! It made me realise that for us, our training has been about learning how to race together; verify our roles, routines, strengths and weaknesses, and where we can collaborate. This is what made us so powerful.
The most impressive part of our week was the consistency of our series. We never got a result outside the top 13. This is very rare in such a long series and shows we can always fight back from a tough position. This is extremely powerful and not something easily achieved.
After such an encouraging performance, we have eyes on the top spot! There was not a lot between us and the gold medal performance. I have full faith that if we continue like we have been, trusting the process – that gold could be ours.”
Vita HeathcoteThe Paris Olympics will run from the 26th of July to the 11th of August, with the sailing events taking place in Marseille Marina between the 28th of July and the 8th of August. Watch Vita and Twiggy with us this summer.
Costa Rica is an adventurer’s dream. Cruise along this magical Pacific coast from Marina Papagayo to Playa Herradura to discover a peaceful idyll bursting with wildlife, waterfalls, noisy jungles, colourful birds, deserted beaches, and waters that come alive with tropical fish.

Costa Rica is known for its incredible biodiversity; its Pacific coastline is home to a wide variety of marine life including dolphins, whales and sea turtles. There’s also a rich cultural heritage and excellent yachting infrastructure. The dry season, from December to April, is the best time to visit.
Arrive at Liberia International Airport, just a 25-minute transfer to Marina Papagayo, a fantastic marina conveniently located off the stunning Papagayo Four Seasons Resort, with world-class golf and nestled in the Bahia Culebra. After some welcome refreshments and a safety briefing, you have a short cruise to a nearby anchorage at Playa Nacascolo, only 2nm away, where you can enjoy an afternoon of watersports and beach activities, then dinner at anchor.
An early morning cruise brings you to Playa Huevo (7nm), a beautiful anchorage surrounded by green forest. Listen out for howler monkeys. At high tide you can take a jet ski, SUP or kayak tour into Mangrove Palmares, one of the jewels of the peninsula. Venture into this natural sanctuary and explore a unique ecosystem of eerie “walking trees” able to thrive in salt water, creating a rich refuge for wildlife. Surfers will want to head to Witch's Rock, a 20-minute tender ride away. It was the location for the cult surfing classic ‘Endless Summer II.’ A helicopter tour to Rincón de La Vieja Volcano National Park can be organised. Visit the canopy trees, waterfalls and mud or thermal pools or try a zip-line canopy tour. An e-bike tour of the coastal trails is another fun activity.
Depart at first light for the 19nm cruise to Playa Conchal, arriving in time for breakfast. Depending on the wind and sea conditions you may alternatively anchor at nearby Playa Zapotal. Both are wonderful bays where you can enjoy your yacht’s water sports toys for the morning. Inshore fishing for mahi mahi or roosterfish can be organised. Keep an eye out for humpback whales. Visit the Chorotega indigenous village of Guaitil, capital of pottery in Costa Rica. Scuba diving for beginners can be organised at Punta Gorda, or for experienced divers at the Catalina Islands.
Overnight cruise to Isla Tortuga, 93nm (7-8 hrs).
You will wake up at Isla Tortuga, also known as Turtle Island, widely considered the most beautiful anchorage in the region. Renowned for its pristine white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush greenery, this protected area of islets has some of the tallest palm trees you will ever see. Snorkel, paddleboard, beachcomb and relax in this tropical paradise. Take time to explore the far reaches of the peninsula to Cabo Blanco and you’ll be rewarded by pods of 1,000+ spinner dolphins, breaching whales, and untouched beaches. Spearfishing around Islas Brumel is also possible.
After dinner (or a beach barbecue) it’s an overnight cruise to Drake Bay (96nm, 7 ½ hrs).
Wake up at the stunning anchorage of Drake Bay, nestled in dense rainforest. This is a World Heritage Site and one of the most biodiverse places on earth. The small eco-resort village is an inviting spot
to sample some local cuisine or a fresh juice. Nearby Isla del Caño is a Jurassicstyle island about 12 miles to the west, which offers world-class snorkelling and diving with whale sharks, manta rays, and a kaleidoscope of fish and corals.
Back onboard in Drake Bay, explore the jungle estuaries on the WaveRunners. Look out for howler monkeys, scarlet macaws and freshwater turtles.
A mangrove river tour of the Rio Sierpe, the biggest mangrove area in Central America, is a must. This labyrinth of water channels is full of life. The tour lasts around 2-3 hours and your naturalist guide will explain the secrets of this unique ecosystem.
A morning cruise brings you to Isla del Caño (13nm, approx. 1hr), a biological reserve. This island is home to a spectacular variety of stunning marine flora and fauna and to Costa Rica's largest concentration of coral-building organisms along the Pacific Ocean. Bright blue waters and excellent visibility make this
one of the country’s best snorkelling and dive sites.
Overnight cruise to Golfo Dulce (70nm, 5 ½ hrs).
Today’s anchorage is a small bay close to Rincón Golfo Dulce (or Sweet Gulf) –the only tropical fjord in the Americas, surrounded by high dense green jungle. This is one of the wettest places on earth and with over 200 inches of rainfall a year, it’s home to giant ancient trees which tower 140’ high. This is heaven for nature lovers.
Overnight cruise to Playa Herradura (119nm, 9 hrs).
Early in the morning you arrive at Playa Herradura, Los Sueños, one of Costa Rica’s best marinas, a spectacular 25 min helicopter ride from San José.
Whatever you need to move, the Grenadier lets you load it, tow it, drag it, recover it, or strap it to the roof. 3.5 tonnes towing capacity. Up to 2,000 litres of loadspace. 5.5 tonnes winching power for recovering yourself or others.
