Cecilia is a recent graduate from the School of Interior Design at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). As a creative individual, Cecilia believes that environments could bring cultural and psychological attachment to human, and the surroundings. She seeks to create telling spaces. As a passionate designer, Cecilia desires to create with functionality, sustainability, and innovations. She is adept at reliable and punctual skills in handling multitasking design works, while offering strong communication skills in a bilingual manner. Several of her works have been selected to the Year End Show (YES) of the School of Interior Design at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).

BONESET STUDIO Location: 238 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, Canada Software used: Revit (modeling & rendering), Illustrator & Photoshop (post-process) In light of the proposal of “the future of the workspace”, the new workspace designed for the local fashion industry, Boneset Studio, aims to achieve a natural environment that enhances the wellness and wellbeing of employees. The new design brings flora and greenery into the workspace that speaks to the green outdoor square in the surrounding neighbourhood. The greenery and floral scent are also a representation of Boneset’s brand identity that always aims for local sustainability and wellbeing.

PENUMBRA *Group project in cooperation with Sanaya Chaze *Based on the conceptual idea given by Cecilia, the product was made based off of a cooperation between both members working through material experimentations and manufacturing process.

Concept: Inspired by water drops as an organic shape, “Penumbra”, is a light fixture made from veneer that interacts with surrounding environments through shadow, shape and form.

EGGSHELL Concept: Inspired by broken eggshell, the goal of the vessels is to achieve a textured surface. The combination of two vessels in different sizes and materials allows more expressions of textures, and more possibilities in colour and tactility. An eggshell creates an uneven edge when it breaks. This organic form is used as a secondary performance.

The idea of creating a set of two candle diffuser holders is developed through the concept of “open” and “edible”. The objective is to have the final products each made of edible materials - chia seeds and jasmine rice.

A PSYCHEDELIC DREAMSCAPE

G A T H E R I N G

In light of the “work from home” circumstances due to Covid-19, it became common to virtually meet/gather through online platforms. The intention of this project is to build a virtual space that allows gatherings through the internet, in a more realistic way.

*Group project in cooperation with Thuc Bui & Leo Ng. *The group worked collectively throughout the design and construction process.

Concept: Adopting from Verner Panton’s use of light, colour, curves, and repetition, an interpretation of a psychedelic space is formed. The exaggeration of forms are repeated in the space to create a sensory illusion but enables navigation through a visually continuous environment. The ornamentation of coloured surfaces encourages the idea of Verner Panton’s fluid motifs to echo an experience of a sensory overload.

GLAZED Location: 596 Ossington Ave, Toronto, ON, Canada Software: Revit (modeling & rendering), Illustrator & Photoshop (post-process) This design proposal targets the lot area on the intersection of Ossington Avenue and Harbord Street in the historical Harbord neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. The building is newly designed as a commercial-residential building for a workshop-based firm, Site 3 Colaboratory. Inspired by the concept of “greenhouse”, the glazing facade conveys the moment of transparency and brightness. The interior spatial planning followed the strategy of “a space within a space”, where the blocks of areas aligned and stacked inside the glazing shell.
