This was a short brief in response to the live D&AD brief. My aim was to produce a cover for the Little White Lies magazine, with the feature film being, The Tree Of Life. I had to produce something illustrative and the design also had to feature the main character of the film in it. I wanted to take a different approach to the style of Little White Lies magazines, but also keep it relevant enough to pass as one.

These photographs I took aimed at expressing a moment/emotion. They almost act as still shots and can be interpreted in any way, telling any story.

I created and designed the covers for a new film magazine. There are 12, one for each month for the film year 2011. I wanted to create the covers using film stills and type. The colour of the type can change according to how appropriate it is to the specific film and how well it sits over the image.

I developed and designed a range of fruit juices, with the use of facial expressions as a way of expressing the particular flavour. My design had to incorporate photography, logo design, slogan and ingredients.

Four films, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, 28 Days Later and The Beach. These four films directed by Danny Boyle have been published into books. I have designed the covers for these four books and also complimentary products that could be sold alongside the books.

Film posters I produced during a placement at the film marketing agency Empire Design based in London. I used Photoshop to manipulate/layer photographs to create an image designed from a concept relating to the film itself.

A variety of film posters. Some are produced through the manipulation and editing of photographs, some have been designed originating from an illustrative approach. All are developed with an understanding of type and layout and are driven from a concept.

Branding and Identity for Drum and Base music artist Elliott M. Identity featured within branding was carried across formats that could compliment, promote the music artist. The hand stamp and wrist bands were designed to ideally be UV activated, creating an atmosphere that helped communicate the music.

RO I designed and developed a concept that would work throughout a series of covers for a photography magazine ‘Roll’. The relationship between the logo and the image, and how they focus on specific areas of the photograph, is the concept behind the design direction.

Designing book covers based on classic novels that became films. I wanted to use symbolic illustrations that would be understood more once the book had been read, instead of predictable imagery.

A HÜ

This brief focused on re-branding the German artist Astrid Hübbe. I chose to use her initials, ‘A HÜ’, especially including the umlaut in her name as it’s significant and unique to her. Also featured, promotional material and exhibition design for her exhibition ‘art’.
