Design Portfolio Céadan Hogan

The task was to study existing products and create your own unique design using alternate materials.
The product I studied was Headforms by Marblue. Materials used needed to be inexpensive, child-friendly, durable and flexible.
The existing headphones are sketched on the right and my own design is on the left.
1st Year Project with a four week duration. The task was to create a high-end multi-purpose structure.
The garden plan had to have a social area, workshop, laundry area and storage space and floor plan.
This was my proposed idea on how to accomplish all of the tasks in an efficient and thoughtful way. Below is my suggested garden and shed layout.
For this project we did group thinking exercises to come you with a concept for an improved covid thermometer. One idea we had was a long-range thermometer that could give a reading from 2 meters away. The thermometer would have a laser pointer for the user to be able to locate its target.
Another idea was an accompanying app that would store data from the readings. This would be useful for an employer would temperature checks their employees each day. It would record the data each day and save it for them.
For my final design I decided to put two of my ideas together into one covid safety themed thermometer
I used Affinity software to render my speaker design after first sketching and creating a concept model.
The task was to sketch your ideas and then render them using affinity software.
I created 3 colour options as per the images on the right.
My design would have a wireless charging stand would be magnetic to ensure the speaker would stay firmly attached.
Final marketing mock-up for my Bluetooth speaker.
For this assignment I had to pick a branded product and come up with a marketing poster using my photography skills and Affinity Publisher for the text.
I chose the Guinness Nitro Surge device for my product.
I borrowed my dads camera and used his lights.
I got a synthetic marble counter top from a building site and used a wooden panel as a back drop
After testing many different variations I settled on these as my three final designs.
My task was to choose a product and then visually explain that product functions. I created sketches of the various functions first and then created images visually explaining each function using Affinity Designer software.
A few examples of my 3D software assignments from first and second year college.
I have made many models for college assignments to help me understand dimensions and form of products. See some examples here.
Some example of a clay model I did for an earmuff design.
On the right is 3D printed model of a tin opener for people with arthritis.
My favourite teamwork project was our chain reaction challenge which is shown on the right. I worked with my classmates to create a line of continuous reactions that could be set off and would continue all the way to the end consistently. This proved a challenging project to implement but it was very enjoyable when we finally succeeded.
One of own creative interests is film photography.
My interest was sparked when I found my Dads old SLR film camera and I bought a new battery and film for it.
Here are some sample photos that I took at a recent music festival.
Some film photos I took at an event night that I organised along with some friends.
I have started learning graphic design using Photoshop. I began teaching myself by watching videos online I use this software to create posters for DJ events that my friends and I organise for college students. Here are some posters I have created for different events.
I have started an Instagram page for my graphic design work and have recently began getting paid to create posters for events companies. Some of my latest commissions are featured below.
