NEW! Caregiver Connection

Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30 PM FLC - Room 209

Attention Parents and Caregivers! We invite you to connect with other families of Magnifying Abilities participants during our November Bingo Night. A designated room at the Family Learning Center will be open for this casual, unstructured time, designed to offer an opportunity to get acquainted, share experiences, offer support, and build a community dedicated to the well-being of you and your loved ones!

Volunteer with Us!

If you are looking for an opportunity to be involved in the community, consider volunteering with Magnifying Abilities! We invite individuals 16 and older, with a friendly attitude and a willingness to help others to provide support at our events! The time commitment is short (typically less than 2 hours) and we have a lot of fun!! Attending family members of participants willing to be an “official” event volunteer are asked to contact MA staff regarding upcoming opportunities. Please reach out to Susan Meyer with Magnifying Abilities at (952) 556-6434 or meyers@district112.org or register on our website.

Social Media

We love to capture photos at our events and share them on our social media platforms! However, we NEVER share names of individuals. If you would prefer your image not be shared, please indicate on the registration form. If you register online, feel free to email meyers@district112.org to make your request. Due to privacy concerns, we ask all participants, attending staff and family members to refrain from sharing photos of or tagging other participants on social media without their direct consent.

Some participants may need a family member or home staff to attend with them indefinitely due to medical, safety, or behavioral needs.

Guidelines for Participating in Activities

The following guidelines have been developed to ensure participants’ safety and enjoyment. The Magnifying Abilities staff supervising each activity will enforce these guidelines.

• Show respect to other participants, families, and staff by using appropriate language, respecting personal space, and avoiding an activity that could cause physical or emotional harm to others.

• Be respectful of and responsible for the facilities used for events/ classes.

• Avoid activities that may hurt or injure other participants (physically or emotionally).

• Be able to take care of personal hygiene.

• No consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed at any MA events by participants, family members or staff.

If concerns arise regarding participants, the supervising Magnifying Abilities staff will discuss the situation with involved parties. If needed, families, home staff, or other individuals will be contacted regarding the incident. If issues cannot be rectified, individuals may be required to attend activities with a supervisor or will be asked to not attend the activity for a period of time.

Expectations of Participant’s Staff

• Cell phone on silent mode.

• All district properties are tobacco and alcohol free.

• Speak respectfully to all participants.

• Notify Magnifying Abilities staff of any issues with other participants.

Magnifying Abilities cannot guarantee all diet requests will be accommodated at our events, but we will attempt to provide alternatives if possible. Participants with special diet concerns are also welcome to bring their own food to any MA event at which food is provided, unless otherwise indicated.

For the safety of our participants, staff, parents and care providers are required to accompany the participant to and from the activity area. If dropping off participants, please pick up promptly at the scheduled activity conclusion time.
